Chapter 44
"Ana, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell again?"
Finlay immediately pulled Analise into his arms and dropped the conversation they had been having. His face was filled with worry.
"Finlay... I feel a little dizzy. I want to rest for a bit."
Analise replied in a deliberately weak voice.
"Lieutenant Hansen, about what you just mentioned, I'll inform the security force for you. Our female isn't feeling well, so we'll be leaving now."
Scott, who was usually composed, spoke faster than before. A trace of concern flickered across his face.
"Alright... Yes, of course."
Sawyer hadn't expected Analise's sudden discomfort, and now he could only nod repeatedly.
Analise was highly valuable to everyone at the moment.
If something happened to her while she was here, it wouldn't just be the Stormclaw Alliance coming after him-other alliances would too. Especially those lunatics from Shadowhawk Alliance. They were notorious for stirring up trouble. After all, she was the first discovered pure-human female with mind essence.
A smile crept onto Sawyer's lips as a new idea formed in his mind.
Once Scott and the others were out of sight, Sawyer immediately called over a male and whispered in his ear. "You, come here. Find a way to notify Nelson Carter from Shadowhawk Alliance and tell him..."
The male hesitated.
"Just do it! And be quick about it."
Sawyer's expression darkened at his hesitation.
As soon as they boarded the starship, Finlay was about to carry Analise to the resting cabin, but she stopped him.
"Put me down, I'm fine," Analise said.
Finlay wasn't convinced. "Fine? Are you sure?"
"Yes, really."
Analise shot him a glare. "Your being carefree is one thing, but it's not always a good thing. You almost fell for Sawyer's trick."
"Tricked by Sawyer?"
Finlay scratched his head. "But he's in such a bad situation. His mate is pregnant and got taken away. I don't think he'd lie. He just wants help."
"The security force allows anonymous reports. That means if Sawyer had any suspicions about his brother but didn't want to make a scene, he could've just reported it anonymously.
"But he didn't. Instead, he came to us, the ones who saved Karl, and just met Lord Hansen. Why do you think that is?" Analise asked.
She tugged Finlay's ear as she questioned him.
"Because we're the good guys."
Finlay blurted out without thinking.
Scott's expression darkened. "Because you're an idiot."
Feeling wronged, Finlay turned to Analise for support.
Yet, Analise nodded in agreement with Scott without hesitation. "Yeah, you're kind of dumb."
Scott voiced his assumptions. "Sawyer is probably working with the Reclaimers. That 'female' he mentioned might never have been his mate in the first place."
"Lord Hansen probably realized something was off, which is why he sent Jay to follow Karl. Otherwise, Karl would've been dead by now."
"But he said his mate was pregnant..."noveldrama
Finlay was still stuck on that point.
"That was a lie. He wanted to trick us into calling the security force. I'm guessing there are already therians in this city who have been calmed by that robot female."

"If Sawyer doesn't get rid of Karl, he can't rightfully claim the lordship or gain real power over the Ironhorn Alliance. But what if the security force runs into berserk therians from the fronhorn Alliance? And what if that robot female is still inside the Lordship Estate?"
Scott glanced at Finlay before breaking down the situation.
"Why do you think the robot female is hiding in the Lordship Estate?"
Analise frowned, looking at Scott in confusion.
"Karl was in the estate. If that robot female was there too, then Sawyer shouldn't have been so surprised when he saw Karl. If she were truly in the estate, she would've kept Sawyer informed.

"That means Sawyer wouldn't have reacted with such shock when he saw Karl, who was fully recovered But his expression was pure disbelief, like he was certain Karl was dead and never expected to see him alive."
Before Scott could respond, Analise began analyzing the situation herself.
"It's exactly because the robot female was in the estate, yet she never noticed Karl was still alive, that Sawyer was so shocked," Scott said with absolute certainty.
The situation was already too complicated for Finlay to untangle, so he just stood quietly to the side.
"If Sawyer tracked us all the way to the starship station, he's definitely not going to stop now. Where are the people we prepared to impersonate us?"
What do you think?
