Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Evelyn's POV
"Lee, why are you dragging me here? Shopping mall is there." I whine trying hard to release my hand
from Leah's strong grip.
"We didn't come here for that." She says in a very cold voice which is very odd since it's Leah we are
talking about who is always fun. A blind could say she's trying hard not to push me down the street.
And the reason, I know very well.
"Then why are we here?" I ask, hiding the smile that was about to appear on my face.
"I have something to talk to you about." She replies as she leads me to a coffee shop across the street.
Her face is damn serious.
For the past week, Nick has been continuing his mission in full swing. And that made me know what a
good actor he is. From the day he told me to flirt with him, he has been annoying me in all the possible
ways and I am tolerating this nuisance with a 'Whiny kid's mommy' patience.
If the boy who never notices someone wearing a dress or tote bag, starts to pick up the 'Pink dress' for
me, something is definitely wrong.
The same one who smeared make up on my face starting to catch flaws in my appearance, always
following me and pretending like someone named 'Leah' doesn't exist anymore; these all are enough to
make his plan work. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
But I think now we should stop this drama. Leah is hurt and I don't want to hurt her more. It's clear that
she is going to talk about Nick today and definitely will lose her shit on me. I don't want to be the prey
of my feisty friend. It is high time to spill the truth.
Walking into the cafe,we make our way to an empty table and sit down. I quickly send a message to
Nick asking him to come over where we are. Looking up from my phone, I see her giving me a cold
stare.
"So Lee, tell me what you want to talk about?" I ask finally as she leans forward.
"Can't you really understand, Evie?" She asks in a low voice and I give her a haughty smile.
Yes, baby I understand everything.
"How would I if you don't tell me?" I shrug.
"Don't act like a baby girl, Evie! I want to know what the hell is going on between you and Nick. Don't
think I didn't notice anything" She roars slapping her hand on the table and looking at me frantically.
So now you are mad! And when I asked you a thousand times how you feel about him, what you said?
"Nothing, Evie, nothing." Then what is this? Let's make you angry until Nick arrives. This is your
punishment for the torments I have endured because of Nick!
Her action was loud enough to catch the attention of the people around us. They snap their heads in
our direction and I glare at Leah.
"Will you be slow? Don't catch more attention." I snap.
"And what you wanted to know? What is going on, right? Why do you care? You have no feelings for
Nick, do you? Just remember how many times I told you, he likes you, he likes you. But what you did?
You just ignored me and hurt Nick. And now you care too much, huh? What did you think, he will wait
for you until his hair grows white, really?" I retort making a blank face.
She keeps on staring at me without blinking and then suddenly a tear rolls down her cheek.
Oh my God, she is crying! It came out rougher than I wanted. Damn! Damn!
I hurriedly get up from the chair and sit on the seat next to her. I wrap my hands around her back as I
speak,
"Lee, sorry. I'm so sorry. I was acting. Trust me. I was trying to make you angry but I messed up
everything. Please don't cry. I'm sorry. Hey, look at me. Lee?" I apologize but she doesn't listen to me
and keeps crying.
"Lee, trust me, we both were acting to know if you really love Nicki or not. It was a plan. WE WERE
ACTING."
At last she looks up at me, confusion and disbelief shading over her face. Her eyes are red, face
swollen, tears are all over the place.
"Wh...what?" She asks, stuttering.
"Yeah. Nick is coming. We will make it clear to you. Let's go." I say holding her hands. I take off the
chair with her and head towards the exit. Once we are outside of the shop, we walk to our car and I
unhook my hand placing it on her face. Wiping the tears, I speak up,
"I am sorry, Lee. We are sorry. I did it for you two. Don't misunderstand me. Hmm?" I smile a little as
she nods her head.
"Wait here. Nick is about to arrive." I tell her and see her relieved a bit.
I lean against the car keeping my eyes on the road. The sun is about to set. Cars passing one after
another as well as our life, day by day. Darkness will consume everything in a while but still there will
be lights. We know our hearts will stop one day yet we look for love.
I didn't believe in love but now my heart wants to believe.
Maybe true love really exists. Otherwise, this lovesick girl wouldn't have been by my side today.
If that's the truth...
Is there any love for me?
Will I ever find the love of my life?
**********
"For the love of God, now at least stop your acting and tell her the truth." I tell Nick, smiling.
He looks at me surprised and Leah stands there in confusion. Such a mess we made together!
"Why is she crying?" He asks, looking at her softly.
Ugh...what a dumbass!
"That's what you wanted to see, didn't you? Are you sure now that she loves you?" I smirk as a faint
blush forms on her cheeks and she lowers her head down.
"I am sorry, Leah." Nick says slowly, turning to Leah. His eyes are showing he is in guilt.
"I want to know everything from first to last." Leah demands stubbornly to which I smile a guilty smile
before starting, "Alright, I am telling you."
"Nicki has had a crush on you since the first day he saw you at our house 5 years back. But being big
of a coward he is, he couldn't even ask you on a date. And you! You also liked him but being so shy of
a Cinderella you are, you also denied that you have feelings for him."
"Whatever, one week ago, Nicki told me that he was ready to confess to you but before that he wanted
to be sure. So he requested me to flirt with him so that you got jealous and he could be sure. A goofy
idea, might I add! Whatever it worked out, you stepped into our plan, got jealous and cried your heart
out one hour ago. It all was our acting but still we are sorry."
I exhale a deep breath,"Now that everything is clear; hug, kiss or do whatever you want to but excuse
me, I am not in the mood to watch a movie." I smirk but soon it fades away as Leah gives us a furious
look.
"You? How dare you two? You were making me fool?" She yells.
"Wait, it's not my plan. Nick forced me to do this. I told him no but he didn't listen to me. Now what
could I do?" I defend myself, throwing my hands up in the air.
Giving me another glare, she throws a punch on his chest, mad.
"You ugly baboon, why did you do this to me?" She tries to punch again but he grabs her hands.
"Leah, I am sorry."
"Fuck your sorry. You were fooling around and I believed all your lies. You hurt me and now you are
sorry? I hate you. I hate you so freaking much." Before she can say another word, Nick stops her with a
forced kiss and pulls her closer by her waist.
Oh no
"OMG! Nick ! You are gross. Eww...shame! Shame! I'm out." I shout as a fit of laughter comes out of
me.
I shouldn't disturb them anymore.
I turn on my heels and run towards the car, shaking my head amusingly with a spreading smile on my
face.
Finally they are together.
That's all I wanted.
