Chapter 18
Chapter 18
“We saw Lewis and Natasha.”
“Where? When?” She asked in a low but commanding tone. She was confused but needed them to shed more light.
“Your birthday party.”
Katherine nodded, encouraging him to keep talking.
“We saw them kiss.”
Kathie frowned.
“Kissing?” The triplets nodded simultaneously.
Kathie was silent for almost a minute, trying to make sense of what She just heard.
“They are siblings. It could be a friendly kiss on the cheek. Just like the kiss you give your sister.” Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“No, mama.” Sophie voiced out.
“It wasn’t on the cheek,” Sebastian added.
“Are you guys sure?” Katherine said, looking so confused already. Her birthday party was held at the mansion almost nine months ago.
The triplets nodded in unison.
“Where did you see them?”
“The kitchen. When you ask us to go meet Alice for cookies. But they didn’t see us”
“See, mommy is sad. You should not have said anything.” Sophie glared at Sammy.
“Is that why you guys didn’t tell me? You thought I would be sad?”
“Are you not sad?” Sebastian alleged. “You like Lewis very much and we knew you wouldn't be happy hearing this. We didn’t want you to be sad.”
Katherine sighed. “I understand that you all have my interest at heart but that doesn’t justify you keeping secrets from me.”
“You’re sad about it. Aren’t you?”
“I’m shocked but I’ll get over it. I also promise to act on it.”
“We are sorry, mama. We did not mean to keep secrets from you.” Sophie said, her eyes were already teary. She could be emotional sometimes.
“Come here, baby.” Kathie gestured and Sophie crawled towards her mother. By the time she cuddled her daughter, the little girl was already crying on her shoulders.
“It’s okay baby, don’t cry.” She patted her back, trying to calm her.
Before Kathie knew it too, her sons were by her side, trying to calm their sister.
Katherine couldn’t help but think that was the only trait her daughter got from her. Being emotional and kind. The rest was from her father, including his looks. The little girl was like his female version.
“Mama is not sad or angry. So there’s nothing to be sad about.
“Ar....are you sure?” She said in between hiccups.
“Yes, my love. You know I don’t like it when you cry. It makes me sad.
Knowing she was doing what could make her mama sad, Sophie stopped crying immediately.
Getting out of her mother’s hold, her brothers gave her a joint hug which warmed Katherine’s heart. She was grateful for the bond between the trio. She chuckled when they helped her wipe her teary face. Sammy focused on one eye while Sebastian focused on the other eye. There was no tissue nearby so they were wiping the tears off with their pajamas shirt. Kathie was grateful the boys were so protective of their sister.
“What will you do now?” Sebby asked his mom after Sophie was back to her normal self.
“There’s no need to worry, honey. Mama will be fine.”
“What do you want us to do for fun this weekend?” She said, intentionally changing the topic.
After they were done with their discussions, Katherine read some bedtime stories to her kids. The trio only fell asleep when She was almost done with the fourth story.
Katherine's bed was big enough to contain her and her three babies so they usually spend Friday nights with her.
She laid them properly on their preferred sides after which she covered them with the duvet. Then she picked up her phone from the nightstand and exited the room, quietly shutting the door behind her.
Just as she was about to dial Michie, her phone rang and it was indeed Michie.
A small smile appeared on Katherine's lips as She slid to pick up the call and brought the phone to her ear as she made her way towards the balcony.
"Was just about to call you."
"Hi, love. How did your day go?"
"Stressful. Yours?"
"Fine. Tell me about it." Michelle said.
"Lewis sent me gifts. Flowers and a gold necklace."
"Isn't your fiance doing too much already? That's so sweet of him."
"Yeah. Then when I called to thank him, he told me to stay away from Natasha."
"Why?" Michelle sounded confused.
"I guess they got into a fight or something. But I know something isn't right."
"For a while now, he would dismiss our conversation whenever I asked about her. He said she's not happy with the proposal and wants to do all it takes to destroy all we have."
"That doesn't sound like Natasha," Michelle said suspiciously.
"I know there's more to the matter. We are meeting for lunch tomorrow. He promises to explain everything to me but in the meantime, urges me to ignore and avoid any form of contact with Natasha."
"I still find it very strange. The two of them are really close. They have a very strong sibling bond so I wonder what went wrong."
"I don't know. My head is a mess right now; I don't even know what to think. The Triplets finally told me why they dislike Lewis."
"Holy shit, what did they say?"
"They saw Lewis and Natasha kiss on my birthday."
"Kiss? Like mouth to mouth?!!" Michelle said in horror.
"That's what they said."
"Fuck!!" Michelle cursed.
"I know those two used to have a tight sibling bond but I don't know if kissing on the lips count as something normal between siblings."
"Apparently, my babies didn't say anything because they knew I would get sad by the news."
"Kids have the purest of hearts. They wouldn't dislike anyone without a cause."
"Indeed," Kathie mumbled.
"So what's gonna happen now?" Michelle asked, knowing her friend was not happy about the situation.
"My head is full right now but I'm trying to remain calm and not overthink anything. But I'm really hoping the Triplets misunderstood whatever scenario they saw then."
"I'm glad you're seeing Lewis tomorrow. You guys should talk it out."
"Yes, we would. But I just have this uneasy feeling about tomorrow."
"Because of what my god babies said?"
"Not really. Natasha opposing to the engagement. Guy, I really looked up to her as the elder sister I never had and she knows how much I love her brother."
"I know stuff like that can be really painful but you can never know the heart of man. Just keep an open mind to what Lewis has to say tomorrow and I would advise that it's better to hear from both sides."
"For Lewis to want to get a restraining order against her, She must have really pushed him to the wall."
"I guess so. But babe, please don't stress over this issue."
Katherine nodded even though her best friend couldn't see her.
"So how's Marcus?" She stopped pacing up and down the balcony and rested on the railings.
"Kate!!!!" Michelle groaned, making Kathie chuckle. She could feel her best friend glaring at her over the phone.
“Oh please,’ Katherine rolled her eyes. “Don’t tell me you're still giving the poor guy a hard time.”
“Geez, Kathie, what the hell? You know he’s my Boss, right?”
“So??” She said, less concerned.
“So I cannot date him.”
“You have issues, babe.”
“Says the person who refuses to date Bart.”
“Don’t be a bully. I have no issues dating someone from work. I only turned him down because I liked Lewis.” Katherine said.
“Now I’m wondering what things would have been like if I went for Bart. Maybe the Triplets would have loved him and I would be living a peaceful life.”
“And maybe not. Don’t start being too hard on yourself, babe.”
“I’m not, babe. I just can’t help but think about how everything used to be perfect until my mother’s engagement.”
“That’s life for you and honestly, there’s no point overthinking. It’s a phase that will pass and you will be just fine.”
“I hope so.”
“Lunch at my place this Sunday? I want to see my babies. I’ve missed them so much.”
“Sure. They’ve missed you too. We will be there.”
“Cool, I will prepare their favorites.”
“You should. And mine too.”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Don’t make me murder you, Michie.”
Michelle giggled, “You won’t because you cannot live without me.”
“I hate you.”
Michelle laughed. “I love you more darling.”
The two best friends talked some more before deciding to call it a night.
Not wanting to go in now, Katherine decided to stay out for a little while, enjoying the cool weather. She was lost in her thoughts, thinking randomly about everything that has been happening in her life.
Suddenly, a thought came to her mind and instead of shrugging it off, as usual, She decided to give in to the urge.
Katherine unlocked her phone, and then went to her browser. She exhaled, after which she punched in Oliver’s name. Almost immediately, the internet brought out results about him. Katherine chuckled when she came face to face with the first picture that popped up. Ollie walking out of the club with two ladies. One with an extremely big ass and the other one with big boobs.
“Not surprised!” She mumbled, scrolling up the page. She saw posts about his relationship, work and other activities. For the next five minutes, Katherine occupied herself with the information after which She decided that She had had enough.
Deciding it was high time She joined her babies in the room, Kathie got ready to leave the balcony.
As She was about to go inside, her phone rang out loud. Looking at the caller ID, She stopped in her tracks.
“Natasha.”
