Chapter 177
Chapter 177
Grace Smith's eyes fell on Heinz Jones, and he also returned her gaze.
Their eyes met, and they stared at each other, but no one said anything.
At this time, Jensen Charm also came in with two police officers in uniform.
They greeted Heinz as soon as they came in.
Heinz also respected Jensen's colleagues and shook hands with them.
Heinz wore a faint smile on his face as if nothing had ever happened between them at all.
Grace looked at his handsome face, which was softened a lot by this smile, and everything around
Grace seemed to be eclipsed by this smile.
Jensen said, "Grace, here's the thing. Heinz has taken part in your rescue. He has some testimonies
during this period, so I need you to come also to verify them."
Grace didn't think that it was reasonable and thought that Jensen must have made a mistake as he did
not know that she was not on good terms with Heinz right now.
Perhaps Jensen did it out of good intention, but Grace was still very upset to see Heinz now.
Heinz refused to believe her.
As there were other people there, she didn't say
anything much. Heinz just said faintly, "Okay, I'll cooperate as much as I can."
"Heinz, we have a few questions to ask you." Jensen looked at him.
"Go ahead." Heinz sat down beside Grace.
Grace instantly felt a strong sense of oppression and deterrence as his aura was so overwhelming and
cold.
Heinz sat with his back straight quietly.
Jensen glanced at them and probably could tell that the atmosphere between them was not the same
as before. He smiled and said, "You guys don't leave first after we're done. I'll treat you guys to lunch."
Grace subconsciously looked at Heinz.
She had pondered upon what had happened yesterday and thought that her reaction was indeed
inappropriate. After all, it was indeed a fact that Simon Brown had held her in his arms and it was
normal for Heinz to be angry.
Therefore, if she could have a meal with him, she would apologize to him and explain herself. Perhaps
he would calm down and understand that the situation yesterday was just a misunderstanding.
She subconsciously looked at Heinz. Heinz didn't look at her but looked at Jensen and said, "It's your
treat? Are we eating in the canteen?"
"Puff—" Jensen sniggered and said, "Can you stop mocking me like this? You can pay the bill. Shall we
go out and eat? Anyway, I am a poor policeman, and I really don't have much money."
"Let's go to the hotel opposite then," Heinz said.
"Okay." Jensen nodded.
His colleagues also looked at Heinz eagerly with their shining eyes.
Heinz looked around and said, "Feel free to join.
Invite the others as well."
"Thank you, Mr. Jones."
Several subordinates who were present there were delighted.
Jensen looked at him, sighed, and said, "It's really good to be rich. A poor police officer like me can't
even afford to treat anybody a meal."
Heinz glanced at Jenson and said, "Let's get started. Stop complaining."
"Okay."
Jensen asked Heinz right out of the gate, "How did you know that Grace was kidnapped?"
"Through investigation." Heinz said, "I asked Lester to arrange someone to investigate once Grace was
missing and when she didn't pick up the phone."
Grace's heart ached when she heard her name coming out of his mouth.
Heinz acted as if nothing had happened. Looking at herself again, she seemed to be too nervous.
She took a deep breath, sat there, and listened quietly.
"Shall we record it here stating that Grace is your girlfriend?" Jensen looked at Heinz and asked.
Grace's mood suddenly rose, and even the two policemen who were standing opposite them were
stunned and they all subconsciously looked at Grace.
It seemed that they weren't aware of that. It only then did they know that Grace was Heinz's girlfriend.
Heinz's expression was indifferent and he said with his normal tone, "There's no need for that."
With a buzz, Grace's mind was in a mess, and it seemed like her brain had just experienced a crash.
She was shocked and thought to herself, "Is Heinz unwilling to admit it?
Or is he ready to break up with me?"
Her face turned pale in an instant and she quickly lowered her head. Her long eyelashes above her
drooping eyes trembled slightly and they covered her eyes which were dark and empty.
It seemed that he was still angry. He was angry that she had been hugged by Simon.
Jensen nodded and looked at Heinz while throwing a wink at him, hinting him to take a look at Grace.
Heinz glanced at Grace fiercely and said in a low voice, "I don't have a girlfriend."
He really didn't want to admit it.
Well, to be fair, he had never said that she was his girlfriend.
She suddenly realized that she was too shameless. She had slept with him without knowing anything
about him.
Just because he was Little Gary's father, and just because they had a child together, she had let her
guard down.
In the end, it turned out that she was a joke.
Jensen's colleagues were also surprised. They looked at Grace who had lowered her head and then at Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Heinz, and they didn't dare to say anything.
Jensen didn't know what had happened between them. He was simply surprised.
He continued to ask questions.
However, Grace was not following his words clearly as she was still in a daze because of what Heinz
had said.
It was not until Jensen had shouted at her that she had returned to her senses, "Grace, did you hear
what Heinz said just now?"
Grace had a blank look on her face. She stared at him and said, "Officer Charm, yes, I heard
everything."
"Alright, that's it." Jensen looked at his watch and said, "It's almost half-past eleven. Let's pack up and
call our brothers and sisters to go for lunch together."
"Okay." They all went out soon.
Jensen said to them, "Wait for us. We'll be back soon."
Then, he left, leaving Heinz and Grace in the room together.
They sat together and were very close to each other.
Grace lowered her head and swallowed a mouthful of saliva. She wanted to say something, but she felt
that her words wouldn't come out from her mouth no matter how hard she tried.
Heinz didn't say anything as well, and the atmosphere was very heavy.
At this moment, Heinz suddenly stood up.
Grace's heart skipped a beat. All of a sudden, she shouted, "Wait a minute."
Heinz's tall body stopped moving. He just stood still with his stiff back facing her. He didn't say a word.
Grace stood up, looked at his back, and said, "Heinz, I have something to say."
He was still silent.
Grace looked at his figure from behind. His hair was combed meticulously and he was wearing a suit
with collars of his white shirt peeking out of the suit. Everything was clean and tidy.
She took a deep breath and said, "Yesterday I was at fault. I shouldn't have let Simon hug me like that
no matter the circumstances."
Heinz's back was even more upright.
"But, I will not admit that I still have feelings for Simon, so I cannot agree with what you said to me last
night."
Heinz remained mute.
Looking at his back, Grace felt a crushing defeat weighing down on her.
No one could probably understand that complex feeling.
"You denied that I'm your girlfriend just now, so I also understand what you mean." Grace said softly
again, "I'm not an obstinate person, and I won't pester you in the future again."
She took her bag and walked towards the door without saying another word.
She didn't look at him at all because she was afraid that she would feel depressed and tear up
uncontrollably.
