Chapter 183
Chapter 183
The woman in the hospital bed looked at him and smiled slightly. "Brother, thank you."
Heinz Jones also grinned at her and said, "Don't be so polite with me. By the way, the child looks a little
like me."
"People often say that nephews usually look like their uncles," Leanne Jones looked at Heinz and said.
"Brother, Old Qandler told me that you took a woman to the villa on the mountain."
"News spread so quickly?" Heinz raised his eyebrows. "What a bigmouth he is."
Leanne burst into laughter and accidentally aggravated her wound. She took a sharp intake of breath
from the pain.
"Alright, let's not talk anymore. Your wound is not completely healed yet," Heinz said in a deep voice.
"Well, okay," Leanne calmed down and said. "The wound hurts too much. Anyway, brother, who is the
woman you brought with you?"
"A secret," Heinz said in a deep voice.
"Are you going to hide it even from me?"
Heinz looked at her and smiled faintly. "Leanne, I've already informed Qandler Logan. His flight will
arrive tomorrow morning."
"Okay."
Heinz came out of the Intensive Care Unit, took out
his phone, switched it on, and glanced at it. She... didn't call again.
It was already five o'clock in the morning when he left the hospital. It was almost dawn.
He took out his phone and called Grace Smith.
The phone rang only twice before it was rejected.
He was stunned and tried again. However, the call was still declined.
Heinz had no choice but to send a message. He asked, "Did you call me earlier? What's the matter?"
Seeing the message on her phone, Grace curled her lips slightly and her eyes were full of sarcasm.
She didn't reply.
Was it still necessary now?
She didn't want to say anything.
However, at this moment, the phone rang again. She glanced at it and realised that it was Heinz again.
She had not slept all night and was very tired. Moreover, she had to ask for leave to go to her
grandmother's grave later. She was really exhausted.
She didn't answer the call, and the phone was still ringing.
Finally, she picked it up, and her voice was hoarse. "Nothing."
As soon as Heinz heard her voice, he frowned and said in an unhappy tone, "Why did you call me at
midnight if it were nothing?"
Grace held her mobile phone and said with a selfdeprecating smile, "Mr. Jones, I've disturbed you. I
shouldn't have called."
"What the hell is going on with you?" Heinz was surprised at her nonchalant attitude. "What's wrong
with you?"
"I'm fine. I called by mistake," Grace said perfunctorily.
Some words were better left unsaid. It would be humiliating to say anything else.
"Grace," Heinz said in a deep voice. "I don't believe that you're okay. If you are, you wouldn't have
called me, let alone call so many times!"
"Since you know that I made several phone calls, why are you calling me back only now? Is it still
necessary?" Grace felt angrier as she thought about it.
When Heinz could sense the bad attitude, it was as if he had also eaten gunpowder. He immediately
scolded coldly, "Why are you being so rude?"
Grace was stunned by the stab and said, "I'm not being rude. I'm fine now, Mr. Jones. Rest assured I
won't be looking for you again."
Upon hearing this, Heinz was even more irritated. He frowned and said, "You're getting increasingly
rude."
"Is there any need for me to be polite?" Grace hung up the phone right after she said that. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
When he saw that she ended the call, Heinz was so furious that he almost threw the phone onto the
ground. He was not in a good mood as he had not slept for the whole night.
Grace silenced her phone and called Hermione Lowe to request for leave for the day.
"Editor Lowe, I need today off to visit my Grandma's grave."
"Are you not coming in at all?" Hermione asked.
"I'll be there in the afternoon," Grace replied. "I'll go to the grave in the morning and I'll come into office
in the afternoon." "Alright, I have something to discuss with you when you get here."
"Okay."
In the newspaper office.
Heinz arrived at newspaper office early in the morning. He stood by the car and waited for Grace.
From her car, Hermione saw Heinz in the distance. She thought for a moment, got out of the car, and
walked towards him.
"Mr. Jones, is it really you?"
Heinz frowned when he saw her and did not make a sound.
Hermione suddenly realised something and said, "So, you're not injured?"
"Injured?" Heinz was puzzled. He looked at her and scowled. "Why would you say that I'm injured?"
"Last night, I went to the hospital to see Lorenzo Chen and I saw you there. So, I thought that you were
injured. I told Grace and she said she wanted to go to the hospital to see you. Did she find you?"
explained Hermione. Upon hearing her words, Heinz had a sudden revelation.
"Grace went to the hospital?" "Yes, I told her last night that you might be hurt and she was very worried
about you. So she wanted to go to the hospital to see you." Hermione looked at Heinz questioningly
and asked, "Didn't you two meet each other?"
Heinz suddenly realised that she must have made the phone calls when she went to the hospital.
Could it bethat... she misunderstood?
Heinz frowned and questioned, "Where's Grace?"
Heinz walked as he spoke.
"Mr. Jones, Grace is going to her grandmother's grave today and she will only be here in the
afternoon."
Heinz was stunned. "She asked for leave?"
"Yes."
Instantly, he turned around and left.
Hermione said, "Call her."
"Thank you," Heinz said and drove away.
He called Grace from the car but couldn't get through.
Heinz suddenly realised that Grace had blacklisted him.
D*mn it, this woman must have saw something and misunderstood.
After sending Little Gary to kindergarten, Grace went shopping for some things and bought a bouquet
of flowers. Then, she took Alice to Alpine Resort.
Upon arrival, they got out of the car together.
"This is Alpine Resort.” Grace looked at the sign at the entrance with sadness in her eyes.
She got pregnant here.
Life was never the same again.
She saw that Alice was holding the bouquet of flowers and staring at the resort. Alice's face was very
pale and she seemed sorrowful.
Grace was a little surprised and asked, "Alice, what's wrong with you?"
Alice suddenly came to her senses. She turned to look at Grace, saying, "Sister, I'm fine. I just
suddenly thought of Grandma."
After that, she lowered her head unnaturally and looked at the flowers in her hands. The despair in her
eyes was covered by her long eyelashes.
Grace's face was also gloomy. "Let's walk there. This used to be such a familiar place but we haven't
been here for a long time. Let's walk this part of the road and honour Grandma."
"Okay." Alice nodded and looked up at the 'Alpine Resort' signboard with sadness and uneasiness in
her eyes.
However, Grace was mourning her grandmother and did not notice Alice' change of emotion.
She wasn't aware that the moment they arrived, Alice started acting strangely.
"Alice, have you not been here since?" Grace asked.
Alice said, "Yes, sister. I've not been here since Simon Brown became our brother-in-law."
Grace was shocked. "Why did you stop coming here because Simon became our brother-in-law?"
"No." Alice shook her head, pursed her lips, and said bitterly, "Sister, I mean, I haven't been here
since."
