It was the end of Melon and Adeles first day in their new kindergarten.

Adele, who hadnt slept well at noon, went upstairs to bathe and sleep right after dinner.

Melon, however, was still full of energy and refused to go to bed.

He insisted on playing with building blocks in the living room with Ariana.

The teachers at the kindergarten were kind, and I made a lot of friends.

My new friends shared some yummy treats with Adele and me and invited us to play together, and the teachers took a lot of fun group photos and put them on the classrooms wall, Melon replied with a smile.

Ariana had initially been worried that Melon and Adele might have problems fitting in.

However, hearing Melon recount his day gave her much-needed relief. It seemed that even though she and Holden had intentionally kept Melons and Adeles true identities a secret, they had still had no problem winning the affection of their peers.

Ariana lovingly ruffled Melons hair and gave him a kiss on the forehead.

But soon, Ariana began to feel drowsy and nodded off.

The building block she held in her hand fell to the carpet as she fell asleep on the sofa.

Melon, who had just finished building his blocks, turned to Ariana expecting praise only to find her already asleep.

He blinked, confused.

Holden descended the stairs from his study and saw Ariana asleep on the sofa.

Dad, why did Mommy suddenly fall asleep? Melon asked, puzzled as he pointed at Ariana.

Holden, however, signaled for him to be quiet and not wake his mother.

Melon, understanding his meaning, nodded and continued playing with his building blocks quietly.

He then walked to the bedroom and put her on the bed.

He covered her with a blanket and tucked a strand of stray hair behind her ear.

He sat by the bed and looked at her with a look of concern.

Despite everything she had been through, Ariana had managed to survive it all.

Her body had endured much, including the drugs Moss had injected her with in Conata, the injection Jasper had given her, and the sequela brought by hormonal imbalances and injuries during her pregnancy… ALL these had left her with lingering complications requiring intermittent medication.

Mitchel and the other experts had informed Holden that the mixture of drugs taken in by Ariana over time was quite significant and could potentially lead to organ failure and death… In order to help Ariana get better, Holden had begun seeking collaboration with biomedical institutions, hoping to find a cure.

However, developing a cure was proving to be a challenge due to the prolonged mixture of different drug residues in Arianas body.

Mitchel was also conducting research on Arianas condition, but no significant breakthrough was expected soon.

Holden sat by the bedside, Arianas hand in his. His brows furrowed as his thoughts wandered.

He feared that one day Ariana would suddenly leave him.

They had been through so much together.

Now that things were better, he couldnt bear the thought of anything bad happening to her again.

After a long while, Holden finally broke out of his reverie.

He gazed lovingly at Ariana as the sound of her gentle breathing brought him a slight sense of security.

In order to distract himself from his worries, Holden decided to think of other things.

His thoughts went to the proposal ceremony he was planning, the custom wedding dress, the ring for Ariana, and their future together.

He also thought about Melon and Adele.
