Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 678

Chapter 678

"Don't leave..." Bernard pleaded as he reached for Hera's hand to stop her from leaving.

He was scared. He was afraid that she wouldn't come back to him again if she left this time.

Having just woken up, his face was as pale as a sheet, making anyone who set their eyes on him pity him instantly. Suppressing her sympathy for him, Hera wrang her hand free from his grasp and left the ward in a hurry. Instinctively, Bernard got up and tried to go after her, but pain and soreness spread from every inch of his body.

His right hand was bandaged, but the gauze was stained red because he exerted too much force too abruptly just

now.

"You have soft tissue damage all over your body. You have to stop moving around," Douglas advised.

Johnson piped in, "That's right. Let her get some rest. She kept you company all night, so she didn't get much sleep. She needs to rest,"

If it weren't for Hera last night, Johnson and Douglas might have needed to wait until dawn to bring Bernard down. Hera didn't leave last night. It meant that she still cared about Bernard. The unease within him subsided a little. Now that Bernard had calmed down, Felix approached him and said, "Mr. Killian, it's time for another follow-up." Bernard lifted his eyes to look at Felix, his expression darkening considerably at those words.

Sensing this, Felix explained, "You aren't in a particularly good condition right now. Please come with me to see Sage. If you don't get treatment, you'll end up hurting Ms. Youngworth."

At first, Bernard was against the idea of getting treatment again, but Felix's last sentence hit the bull's eye.

He could recall only snippets of what happened after Hera left last night, but all of them were bad.

Furthermore, he was worried that he'd hurt Hera if he suffered a relapse again.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

After contemplating it for a bit, he turned to Douglas and said, "Free up some time for me."

"Okay," said Douglas readily.

Feeling much relieved that Bernard finally agreed to get treatment, Felix turned around and messaged Hera about the good news.

"Ms. Youngworth, Mr. Killian has agreed to it."

Hera had just arrived at the clinic when she got the message.

She replied with, "Okay. I'll leave him in your hands, then."

"Hera, you're finally back!" Wayne greeted her the moment she stepped into the clinic. "Are you sure a burglar didn't enter this place? Should we call the cops?"

When he and Catherine came to the clinic this morning, they saw what a mess the western wing was. The door was broken and couldn't be closed, and when they entered the building, the living room was a total mess.

The place looked as if it was hit by an earthquake earlier this morning. Thinking that something bad had happened, Wayne quickly called Hera to ask her about it.

He would've called the police if she hadn't told him not to be bothered about it.

"It's fine. A dog barged into the western wing last night," Hera had told him.

"A dog? What kind of dog is capable of wreaking such havoc?" Wayne was astounded because the furniture in the western wing was made of wood and was extremely heavy even for a man.

"It must be a husky. Huskies are like that. My boyfriend has a husky, and it's a naughty little one, indeed," Isla commented after overhearing a snippet of the conversation.

"What?" Wayne couldn't believe his ears. "That's horrible!"

And although Wayne believed it eventually, Catherine didn't buy it.

After asking Hera to meet her in the office, Catherine asked, "Herie, did something happen between you and Bernard?"

There was no hiding anything from wise, old Catherine.

"It's nothing. He suffered a relapse. That's it. Don't worry," Hera answered.

"A relapse? Didn't he recover completely?" Catherine had heard from Hera that she had treated Bernard before. As for his condition, she had no idea what it was.

Not wanting Catherine to worry, Hera said, "Yes, but it's under control now."

Although Catherine knew things weren't that simple just by looking at the state of the western wing, she believed that Hera could settle things on her own.

Instead of probing further, she asked, "Do you need help with anything?"

"Not for now. I can settle it on my own. You can focus on treating the patients at the clinic."

After reassuring Catherine that everything was well, Hera called a cab and took Tiramisu and her luggage to the villa in Jadeite Bay.

The western wing was a mess, so it wouldn't be habitable until she cleared the mess up. Hera didn't feel like staying there for now anyway.

When she reached Jadeite Bay and calmed Tiramisu down, she went to get some sleep.

She slept until 2:00 pm the next day. Even then, she felt like continuing her sleep, but someone rang the bell, making her snap wide awake.
