Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 764

Chapter 764noveldrama

"Have you eaten, Herie?" Catherine stepped forward, asking out of concern. "If you haven't, I'll prepare some pasta for you."

"Grandma, we ate before coming home." Hera held Catherine's hand, indicating her not to tire herself out.

Catherine would usually be done with her stroll by now and would've gone home to prepare for bedtime. Since she was still here, she clearly wanted to know the details of the case. "The culprit has been caught, and Lucius' name has been cleared," Hera took the initiative to inform Catherine. She then began to give a brief rundown of the truth.

Hearing the truth made Catherine grip Hera's hand tightly. "I'm glad everything has come to light. Thank you, Herie. If it weren't for you, I never would have learned the truth."

"Grandma, you don't have to be so formal with me. It's what I should do and what I wished to do as well," Hera comforted her.

"Will Lucius be released without any charges?" Catherine asked. Seeing that Lucius was her son-in-law, she was concerned for his welfare.

Hera glanced at Bernard, who replied, "He'll be released tonight."

"That's good. Shall we offer him a lift? It's so late, so he probably can't catch a cab,"

Catherine stated worriedly.

Hera also considered whether they should go and pick up Lucius, but she changed her mind after recalling their previous conversation. By now, he should be hurrying back to the Killian residence.

"No need. Someone will send him back to the Killian residence," Bernard answered.

"That's good to hear." Catherine sighed in relief.

"It's getting late. You should go back and rest early. We can talk more tomorrow." Hera checked the time.

Catherine was worn out as well. "Sure. You two should rest early too. Wayne, let's go. As for the rest of you..." While speaking, she glanced at the remaining visitors in the hall.

Gideon stood up as well before pulling Gino up with him. "It's getting late, so we'll leave as well."

"Sure," Hera replied. She then suddenly considered something. "Did the two of you intentionally drop by just to transfer the money to me?

"Exactly! I was afraid if I didn't transfer the money in front of you, someone might intercept the money halfway," Gino said, leaving Hera speechless.

"There are so many hackers around the globe. What if someone gets jealous of my earning abilities and is lying in wait to steal my money?" Gino added earnestly.

Hera, Gideon, and Bernard were at a loss for words. If the hackers truly wanted to steal

Gino's money, they could still do so while face-to-face with him.

"We'll be going now. Hera, remember to inform me in advance which company's shares I should buy," Gino reminded Hera before leaving.

"Will do," Hera answered, thinking that Gino was so money-minded.

"What about you two? Thinking of staying back?" Bernard shot a glance at Thiago and Nicholas, who were still sipping on their coffee.

"Sure. It's not like I haven't done it before," Nicholas retorted.

Bernard pointed outside. "Alright. Go outside. That's where you're staying tonight."

Nicholas was at a loss for words.

"Hera, I feel better knowing that you're doing fine. I'm here to say goodbye. Something came up in the south, so my dad asked me to return on a midnight flight. I'll miss you a lot after I return home, and you must think of me too," Thiago said while getting up.

Something urgent must have happened if Thiago had to hurry back on a midnight flight. Since he did not give away any details, Hera did not ask further.

"Alright. If there's anything you need help with, let me know anytime," Hera said.

"If I ever need help, I'll be sure to ask you." Thiago chuckled. "But I do have a small request. Before I leave, can I hug you?"

Upon hearing that, Bernard immediately stepped forward like a tiger protecting its cub.
