Chapter 33
Chapter 33
“Sonia is an avid fan of novels and always talks about how the
women in shotgun marriages eventually find out they’ve married. billionaires.
“But why would a billionaire need to go on a blind date or get into a shotgun marriage? She reads too much of those things. Whenever she has time, she likes to read a novel or two,” Lorraine said.
Lorraine was realistic and didn’t believe in fairy tales. They were just stories and didn’t have anything to do with reality. In real life, anyone who could be called a prince would only marry a princess befitting of
his status.
Logan couldn’t help thinking that he had to be careful around Sonia. He didn’t want her to expose him.
Lorraine patted his shoulder. “Work hard, okay? Maybe you’ll be a CEO one day too. Get to know how things work at construction sites and take this opportunity to build your wealth and network.
“Then, you can set up your team and take on projects. After that, you can establish a construction company. That way, you’ll be a CEO too.”
“Alright. I’ll work hard, and so will you. You’re striving to become the richest woman in Glendale, so I’ll strive to become the CEO of a large corporation,” Logan said.
At that moment, the merry–go–round stopped. Lorraine forgot about talking to Logan and hurriedly went to meet the children.
Logan suddenly felt a little jealous. Her attention was always on the twins. Were his charms and good looks no match for them?
He was actually very domineering and couldn’t stand the woman he liked focusing on anyone other than him. Yet, the targets of her
attention were his children. Even if he was jealous, he couldn’t do anything to Finnegan and Luna.
Not only could he not do anything to them, but he even had to treat them well and raise them to be upstanding people. Alas!
When Logan saw Lorraine meeting the twins at the exit and crouching down to wipe their sweat with tissues, he found himself feeling a little hot too. He wanted her to wipe his sweat as well.
As Lorraine led the children back to Logan, she asked, “Did you two
have fun?”
“Yeah! Lots of fun!” they answered in unison.
She asked affectionately, “Is there anything else you guys want to play?”
Logan cleared his throat and said, “It’s getting late, so we should head home. We still have to buy groceries for dinner. Or should I treat you
to a meal outside?”
“No, let’s cook our own food.” Lorraine subconsciously wanted to save money on his behalf wherever possible. She couldn’t help thinking about how he had to spend ten grand a month on the twins‘ kindergarten fees.
She leaned close to him so that the children wouldn’t hear her. “We have to save every penny for the children’s fees.”
Raising children needed so much more money than people expected.
Logan fell silent. Had he gone too far in pretending to be poor? Look at how worried Lorraine was that he wouldn’t have enough to pay for the kids‘ expenses. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
Lorraine didn’t notice this. She held Finnegan’s and Luna’s hands and happily led them out of the park and to the car. As they passed by a small convenience store, she went in and bought four puddings.

When she came back out, she muttered to Logan, “These used to
cost a dollar each. They’re two dollars now.”
Logan was rendered speechless.
