Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 847

In the open doorway of the ER, fragments of urgent commands from the medical team floated out.

"Administer the antagonist!"

"Push 1000ml of saline, stat!"

"Increase the oxygen flow!"

"Chief, the patient's heart has arrested!"

"Prepare the defibrillator! Where's the blood gas analysis? Hurry up the lab! Clear the area, we're going to shock!"

Sherilyn's heart raced, her face turning ghostly pale. "Is it Galen?" she wondered.

She hastened toward a nurse who seemed to be looking for someone. "Nurse, I..."

"Sherilyn!"

Behind her, Edgar caught her arm. "Wait!"

Because from another door, a nurse emerged, pushing a gurney and glancing at a clipboard. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

"Any family of Galen here?"

Sherilyn froze, momentarily relieved as she realized it wasn't Galen they were talking about. Quickly turning around, she responded, "Here! I'm his sister!"

"The patient is stable now," the nurse explained. "He had traces of sedatives in his system. We've administered fluids to speed up the drug metabolism..."

"He's a blood donor for the hematology department; the hematologist has already seen him. He can be moved back to the hematology ward." "Thank you!"

Sherilyn looked down at Galen lying on the gurney, tears welling up in her eyes. The anxiety that had gripped her for days finally eased, and the tension melted away. Every second of the past few days had been torture... But thankfully, it was a close call with no harm done!

Soon after, Galen was transferred back to the hematology ward. On their way back to the room, he woke up.

"Sis..." Galen's voice was hoarse and weak as he struggled to open his eyes. "Am I... dreaming?"

"You're awake?" Sherilyn's eyes reddened as she squeezed his hand. "No dream, it's me, we're in the hospital!"

.." Galen frowned, trying to piece together his last memory of running out of a cabin and collapsing on the way down the mountain...

"..."

"Sis," Galen's voice was barely a whisper, "Sorry for worrying you."

“What are you apologizing for?” Sherilyn feigned anger, her voice choked with emotion. "You were drugged, and all you could think about was Jenna... Thank goodness, you're okay..."

If anything had happened to him, she would never be able to repay the kindness in this lifetime.

"Don't talk, just rest."

"Yeah.” Galen nodded and closed his eyes. The drugs hadn't completely left his system, and he soon fell asleep.

After settling him in the room,

Sherilyn stepped out to find Edgar

waiting for her. She gave him a weary smile. "Thanks for

everything..."

He had been up all night because of her.

"Sherilyn..."

Edgar's gaze fixed on her, cutting her off abruptly.

"Hmm?" Sherilyn was puzzled.

Edgar's expression was serious, his lips pressed tightly together as if struggling to speak.

“Is there something you want to say?" Sherilyn asked with a light laugh, sensing his discomfort.

But Edgar's demeanor turned even more solemn.

"What is it?"

"Sherilyn..."

He hesitated, then finally spoke, "The person they were treating in the ER... It was Gilbert!"

"?"

Sherilyn was momentarily stunned, not fully grasping the situation. "Gilbert?"

"Yes!"

Now that he'd started, Edgar found it easier to continue. He nodded, "I'm not sure what exactly happened, but when + got to Ivy Hollow, I saw Galen being carried down from the mountain..."
