Chapter 15 Wolves
“Why is it so cold here… it gives me goosebumps, like I’ve seen something scary.” Melissa said
“Stop talking carelessly, we are in the forest, we can’t talk carelessly.” Selgie said in an angry tone because the words spoken by Melissa made her body even colder and also felt the hair on her shoulders rise.
“Hehe… I’m just kidding… Are you scared Selgie?” What kind of silly question was that, even Selgie and Diana were feeling scared, their feelings suddenly became chaotic, especially as it was getting darker.
Melissa was still able to smile happily, even though her hand was holding Selgie’s hand tightly.
“Wait a minute,” Diana said, stopping her two friends’ footsteps,
Diana suddenly forgot the road when she saw three roads in front of them.
“Diana, don’t tell me you don’t remember the road?” Selgie asked, seeing the confused look on Diana’s face.
“No, I haven’t forgotten the path. It’s just that I’m confused about which path to choose among the three.” Diana said
“Same thing, Diana,” Selgie said while biting her lip,
“Geez, what now?” Asked Melissa who was starting to get nervous, if they were lost in a forest that looked so scary. whereas before they had seen a beautiful view when they were at the lake.
“How about we take a vote, whoever wins that’s where we’ll go.” Diana said.
“Hah! Are you crazy, what if we go the wrong way?” Selgie looked even more worried if the three of them got lost in the forest.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Even if we go the wrong way, we will still return to the lake we saw earlier and come back here. So we have to try all three paths one by one.” Diana tried to explain and calm her two friends down, even though she herself didn’t know if it was true or false, because she only heard it from others.
Selgie was silent for a moment listening to Diana’s words,
“Okay! Then we’ll do it now.” Selgie tried to follow Diana’s words by doing the hompimpah first, even though it sounded like a game from her childhood.
As the three of them played the game, the wind blew even stronger while they were playing a game of hompimpah in the middle of the forest. It was as if they were reciting a mantra.
Selgie won the game, and her two friends had to follow the first path.
When they tried to walk towards the first number, suddenly Melissa didn’t want to walk there, her gaze seemed to be blankly staring at the straight path.
Melissa was still standing in her place not wanting to take a step, her hand slipped from Selgie’s hand, even though before Melissa kept holding her hand tightly.
“Come on, Melissa we have to go soon,” Selgie invited while grabbing Melissa’s hand which was really cold.
“That way,” Melissa pointed at street number three, where the three of them stood closest.
Fear began to well up in Selgie’s chest, when she heard Melissa’s voice seemed different from hers, I don’t know what happened to her.
“No way, Melissa we have to try the path one by one.” Diana said while trying to pull Melissa’s cold hands, even Diana had a hard time pulling Melissa’s body.
Melisa’s eyes immediately rounded when she saw two wolves appearing from the two roads that Selgie wanted to pass, the first road and the second road.
They seemed to be surrounded by the two wolves that were in different directions and the only road left was the one that Melissa had pointed out earlier.
Auuuuu….
The two wolves of different colors howled so loudly, a second later Selgie shouted while pulling Melissa’s hand quickly took her running, while Diana ran first.
Selgie followed Diana through the path, stumbling several times over the rocks and roots of the weeds that were so numerous on the road that Selgie found it a little difficult to pass them.
Selgie did not think she could run on a road like this, even Melissa almost fell if she was not guided by her. Melissa continued to sob behind her so scared that maybe if Selgie’s hand slipped away from her she would have been torn to pieces by the wolf she saw for the first time.
The wind picked up and the tall trees crackled.
“Selgie, what if they devour me first…” said Melissa as she cried trying to keep running to keep up with Selgie but her strength seemed to be drained by her tears.
“I don’t want to die here…” Melissa said again.
Melissa’s words made Selgie angry at her and snapped at the girl without intending to look back.
“Will you shut up! And keep running…” Selgie snapped, gripping Melissa’s stunned hand even tighter.
Selgie’s heart was beating so irregularly, she herself was so scared, even though this was not the first time she had seen a wolf.
“We’re almost there…” Diana said, running first.
Selgie, breathing heavily, tried to maintain her running speed.
Selgie felt Melissa’s hand that she was holding so heavy, as Melissa started to run a little slower due to feeling tired, her throat choked.
“Melissa, hang on we’re almost there, go faster!” Selgie said to Melissa who was still behind her, trying to encourage the girl.
“I can’t take it anymore Selgie, my legs are too heavy to take a step.” Melissa muttered through tears as she thought of the wolf that might pounce on her later.
Selgie who felt her hand grip getting heavier, quickly tried to pull Melissa’s hand, so that they were hand in hand, embracing her shoulders while running.
The three of them thought that the wolf was chasing them, so the three of them continued running without intending to look back.
“Selgie…” Melissa whined
“Shut up Melissa! You’re wasting your energy talking.” Once again Selgie snapped at Melissa
Melissa was quite self-aware, if Selgie was angry at her out of kindness too, she didn’t want to let herself be pounced by the wolf.
Melissa did not dare open her mouth and she tried her best to keep running.
