Chapter 571 Having Ospean Food For Dinner
Chapter 571 Having Ospean Food For Dinner
Sienna was quick to regain her composure even when questioned. “I came here because I wanted to have a little chat with you, only to find out that you weren’t in after I entered the room. Who would’ve thought I’d run into you on my way out?”
Her calm expression and graceful smile made it impossible to tell that she was startled just seconds ago.
“What did you want to talk about, Mrs. Harris? We can talk about it now that I’m back,” Annie asked while observing Sienna’s expression. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
“I was going to ask you when you plan on making your move. Asher may be excused from his punishment due to his illness, but he will have to return to the ancestral hall once he gets better. I can’t bear to watch him faint from the abuse again,” Sienna said.
Annie could understand the cause of Sienna’s anxiousness. “Don’t worry, Mrs. Harris. I have made all the necessary preparations on my end and will make my move within a few days.”
Sienna breathed a sigh of relief when she heard that. “That’s good to hear.”
Annie was about to walk past her and enter the room when Sienna grabbed her by the wrist.
“The weather has gotten really warm lately, and my long hair isn’t making things any better for me. I was thinking of getting my hair done today! Would you like to come with me, Ms. Annie?” Sienna suggested amicably.
“Get your hair done?”
Sienna let out a chuckle. “That’s right. I heard young girls love dyeing their hair gray these days. I think you should give it a try, Ms. Annie.”
“I don’t mind keeping you company while you get your hair done, Mrs. Harris, but I won’t be getting mine done. I prefer my natural hair color, so I would prefer to not change it, Annie said without any hesitation whatsoever.
“Your hair sure looks great, Ms. Annie. I still think you would look even better if you dye it, though. Life is all about trying new things, after all. Besides, it would be pretty boring if you just sit there and watch me get my hair done.”
Annie shook her head and stood firm on her decision.
“I really don’t like dyeing my hair, Mrs. Harris. If you want to go to the salon, I’ll pack my stuff and head- out with you in a bit.”
Feeling disappointed, Sienna replied, “Forget it. There’s no point in me going if you won’t join me, so I’ll just put up with it for a few more days. I’ll go check on Asher in his room. Feel free to come see me if you ever need anything, Ms. Annie.”
“I will.”
The two then politely excused themselves and went their separate ways.
Annie quickly locked her bedroom door from the inside while Sienna returned to the master bedroom with a disappointed look on her face.”
Asher was sleeping soundly on the large bed of the master bedroom.
Exhausted from reciting and copying the scripture for a few days straight, he was using this opportunity to get some rest while he was sick.
Not wanting to disturb him, Sienna simply sat down beside the bed without making a sound.
I couldn’t find a single strand of hair inside Annie’s room, and she refuses to get her hair done either. Given how Annie is being extremely cautious around me, I doubt I will be able to complete the task that Gwendolyn assigned me.
With that in mind, Sienna sent Gwendolyn a text to brief her on the situation.
It wasn’t long before she received a reply from Gwendolyn.
The message read: Just wait and see.
Sienna figured Gwendolyn probably had a plan for this, so she decided to place her trust in Gwendolyn and stopped worrying about it.
When it was time for dinner, Sienna fed Asher some soup before heading downstairs with the empty bowl.
Annie was already seated and waiting for Sienna by the time the latter arrived at the dining hall.
Sienna then handed the empty bowl over to the housekeeper before sitting down across from Annie.
Annie gracefully munched on the food during dinner while chatting with Sienna. “Chanaean cuisine sure tastes unique and amazing. I was lucky enough to enjoy Chanaean food for a few years while studying here, but the cooking of the Harris family’s chef is the best I have tasted so far.”
“You can have more if you like it,” Sienna replied with a polite smile.
Annie nodded obediently before asking, “Have you ever tried Ospean cuisine, Mrs. Harris?”
“I have been to Ospea while I was on an international flight with Asher. That was when I had a chance to try out the capital city’s delicacies.”
“What do you think of the taste, then?”
Oblivious to the reason she brought that up, Sienna replied casually, “It’s not bad. Every country’s cuisine is unique in their own way, I suppose.”
Annie glanced at the two chefs and the housekeepers, who were standing next to the dining table, and gave it some thought before continuing, “I have been eating Chanaean food ever since I got here a few days ago. I’m starting to miss Ospean cuisine. Could you help me out with that, Mrs. Harris?”
Sienna paused in her tracks as she realized Annie was likely hinting at something. “Do you have something in mind, Ms. Annie?”
“I know a chef from Ospea. He’s an old friend of mine. Could you enlist his services for a few days and have him prepare our meals here at the Harris residence?”
Since hiring a chef wasn’t a big deal, Sienna saw no reason to deny that request. Besides, she had already promised Annie last night that she would comply with all her arrangements.
“All right. We can arrange for the chef to come over tomorrow if you’d like.”
Annie flashed her a bright smile. “That’s great!”
She then lowered her gaze to conceal the sinister glint in her eyes as she continued, “Mr. Asher is sick, but Ms. Harris has yet to come and visit him. Why don’t you invite her over for dinner tomorrow? That way, she could also have a taste of Ospean cuisine.”
That was when Sienna noticed something was off about Annie’s suggestion. Hmm? Is Annie planning to make her move?
She looked Annie in the eye in an attempt to see what she had in mind, but Annie simply maintained an innocent and harmless smile.
Her superb acting skills and flawless pretense made it impossible to determine what she was up to.
While Sienna was unsure of Annie’s intentions, she did not hesitate to respond as Gwendolyn had given her instructions beforehand.
“Sure thing. He is her brother, and he only fell sick because of her punishment, so it’s only natural that she should come to visit him.”
Having received the green light, Annie smiled even brighter. “That’s settled, then. I will contact the chef and have him report for duty tomorrow morning. He will need some time to get used to your kitchenware so he can prepare dinner for us. Look forward to tasting some of Ospea’s famous delicacies, Mrs. Harris!”
After the meal, Sienna then gave Gwendolyn a call in front of Annie.
“Hey, Gwen. Asher is sick and doesn’t seem to be doing well. Could you come to visit him and maybe stay for dinner? Ms. Annie is your guest, so you should at least show her some hospitality.”
Gwendolyn could tell from Sienna’s tone that Annie was right next to her.
“Got it. I will head over once I’m done with work tomorrow,” she replied coldly and ended the call.
Sienna turned toward Annie and complained angrily, “You see that? I’m her sister–in–law, and this is the attitude she gives me. Not only did she not greet me politely, but she even behaves impatiently when speaking to me!”
She sighed inwardly, anxiously hoping that Annie would reveal more of her plan for tomorrow night, but Annie simply held her hand and said, “I’m sorry you had to suffer Ms. Harris‘ wrath because of Mr. Asher, but don’t worry. This will all be over soon.”
Seeing as Annie did not reveal anything about her plan, Sienna decided to take the initiative and sound her out. “Are your preparations for tomorrow night complete? You’re not going to get anyone killed, are you?”
