Chapter 334
Chapter 334
"Come in," Xavier said.
Nanny Joy walked in with a bowl of soup in her hand.
Arya looked at Nanny Joy and asked, "Where's Ryan?"
Nanny Joy answered, "Ryan is with Mrs. Jones."
In fact, this soup was cooked by Daisy.
Nanny Joy handed the bowl to Xavier and picked up the clothes that Arya had taken off.
Nanny Joy said, "I'll take the clothes back and wash them. Put the dishes on the table later. When I
bring the clothes tomorrow, I'll pack them back."
Xavier carried the bowl to the bed and sat down. He scooped up a spoonful of soup and blew gently
before passing it to Arya's lips. "Open your mouth."
Arya enjoyed Xavier's "service". She opened her mouth and drank the soup.
The soup was stewed with big bones. The white soup had no ingredients in it, so it was light and tasty
without the oil, but it was also greasy if she drank too much. After drinking half a bowl, Arya frowned, "I
don't want to drink anymore."
"Hmm? Does it taste terrible?" Xavier asked.
As he spoke, he had a taste and his expression changed slightly. Because he was familiar with the
taste of Daisy's cooking, he immediately knew that it was her who cooked the soup.
"Don't waste it, anyway."
Xavier looked at Arya, his lips twitching slightly, but he didn't say anything in the end.
She was not fit to think too much.
But in Arya's eyes, all of this meant something else. "You're disgusted that this is the soup I've had."
If it was someone else's, Xavier would probably feel disgusted even if he saw it.
Disgust?
He even touched her mouth when kissing, so why would he despise a spoon that she had used?
Wasn't that nonsense?
Xavier scooped up the soup and put the whole spoon into his mouth. It was the same spoon that Arya
had just used. Xavier looked at her with charming eyes. "And a spoon with your scent on it."
Arya blushed instantly.
How could she forget that Xavier was a cheeky man?
"Janet will send the things later." Arya deliberately changed the subject, afraid that Xavier would say
something shameless again.
Xavier suddenly became serious.
Jacob had made new progress in the past two days. The timing was perfect and he was ready to make
his move in the next two days. But time was running out, as Arya's due date was fast approaching.
Xavier carried Arya into the bathroom to help her wash up. Arya put her arms around his neck and
thought for a while. "Let's go home when the baby is born."
Xavier paused and looked at Arya in surprise. "You..."
"The baby needs to live in a normal family."
She knew that as long as she was with Xavier, she needed to communicate with the people at the Old
Residence to ease their relationship. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Xavier was in a difficult position.
Ever since he came back, Xavier had never returned to the Old Residence. She knew that and
understood him.
Besides, they were Xavier's family, and her baby needed to be raised in a normal family.
Xavier's adam's apple rolled up and down, and he was deeply touched.
Arya's head rested on his shoulder, and she said, "Be nice to me in the future."
"Am I not good to you? I don't even go home anymore." Xavier smiled slightly. This was the first time he
had smiled since Arya's accident.
When they reached the bathroom, Arya asked him to put herself down. Xavier stood outside the door.
After Arya finished washing, Xavier carried her out and put her on the bed. Xavier lay on his side on the
bed, hugged her from behind, and kissed her hair. "Have a rest. I'll call you when someone comes."
Arya nodded. Now she needed more rest, and because of her pregnancy, she was easily sleepy. She
fell asleep in Xavier's arms not long after.
Not long after she fell asleep, Janet and Jacob arrived.
They met at the entrance of the hospital, so they came in together.
Xavier did not wake Arya up. Instead, he covered her up and called Jacob and Janet to the living room.
This was a VIP ward where both patients and visitors had beds to sleep on.
Xavier closed the door.
He looked at Jacob, asking, "Have you made a clear investigation?"
Jacob nodded and handed Xavier what he had discovered during this period. It was a disciple of Mr.
Gates who was found to have been caught in corruption, something that everyone avoided for fear of
getting involved.
The Gates Family also looked on with folded arms. After all, no one would get someone out of the
prison without full confidence. And Mr. Gates was at a critical moment when he stepped down, and he
would not risk his reputation.
This man betrayed Mr. Gates because of this, and it could be seen that he was really a villain. But he
was also very smart. If he spilled the beans directly, the whole thing would probably be pressed down
by Mr. Gates, so he did it when Mr. Gates was going to retire. This man also had connections; after all,
he had worked in official circles for most of his life.
That was why the man had his family contact Jacob privately.
Everyone knew that Jacob worked for Xavier.
And the feud between the Jones Family and the Gates Family was also an open secret, so the man
was sure that Jacob would agree to meet.
"Mr. Gates went there personally." The fact that Rufus had done something illegal was something
Xavier had known about for a long time, just not deeply.
He didn't expect Rufus to collude with the gangs in Burma.
Xavier looked up. "He will know such important information." Xavier did not believe that an abandoned
man could know so many secrets.
If he was important, would the Gates Family give him up?
"I investigated this man. He's very smart. He secretly investigated these things when he followed Mr.
Gates."
So, one would have to meet his demands to get him to show evidence?
Xavier looked over.
"He asked us to send his family abroad." The man was worried that he would implicate his family, so he
asked for it. "I've promised him. His parents are dead. Georgina gave this to Janet."
As he spoke, Jacob handed Xavier the things that Georgina had given to Janet.
Xavier tore open the dark tape and poured out the contents. There was a USB drive and a document
inside. It was the same as what Jacob had transferred to him, which meant that this was true.
Xavier threw the USB drive to Jacob. "Have a check."
Jacob took the USB drive, plugged it into the computer, and turned on the computer.
