Divorcing 387
Chapter 387 Isn't She a Nepo?
After her self-introduction, Michael finally remembered who she was.
Turned out she was the person who tried to get a job through nepotism.
"It's you."
But this remark led Maya to misunderstand that she left a deep impression on Michael.
"Michael, looking forward to working with you!" She smiled sweetly and bowed, looking youthful and full of energy.
However, Michael wasn't buying it. He replied indifferently, "You haven't started the job yet."
Maya's smile stiffened momentarily, but she quickly recovered, convincing herself that he just didn't want the company's employees to know about their relationship and preferred to keep things low-key. "Understood, Mr. Shawn. I'll head out now. The interview results should be announced soon!"
She turned and walked back into the elevator under everyone's gaze, still smiling.
Ethan entered the office. "Mr. Shawn, should I go and smooth things over with the interviewers?"
"Is she your relative too?"
Ethan was taken aback. "No, she's not."
"Then why are you so eager?"
He just thought she was Chloe's cousin, trying to curry favor but ending up rubbing it the wrong way.
Michael grabbed his coat. "Let's go. Don't we have a meeting for a collaboration today?"
Meanwhile, Maya returned to the interview area just as the interviews concluded.
After a discussion among the interviewers, two candidates were chosen to stay.
One of them was Maya.
Although she was somewhat arrogant, her professional skills were quite good, and her resume was impressive. For an internship position, she met the standards of Paramount Airlines. Thus, Maya was hired.
As the supervisor led her to her workspace, Maya asked, "Is my desk on Mr. Shawn's floor?"
The supervisor gave her a look. "You're just an intern. How could you be on the same floor as Mr. Shawn?"
Maya nodded, unfazed.
Since she wasn't on that floor, she'd just find more opportunities to go up and see him in the future.
Paramount Airlines' building was right next to the airport, with large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the runway.
This wasn't the life Maya had always dreamed of. But it was her entry into high society.
"Today is my first day at work. Sorry for any inconvenience. How about I treat everyone to dinner tonight?"
As the workday ended, Maya stood up and addressed her colleagues loudly.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
In contrast, the other new intern who joined with her was much quieter. And she was annoyed by Maya.
The other employees wouldn't turn down a free meal. Plus, Maya was still a university student, looking young and cute, so there was no reason to turn her down.
After work, the group headed to the ground floor just in time to see Michael returning.
The other employees didn't dare speak, but Maya stepped forward again. "Mr. Shawn, I successfully got the job!"
Michael looked at the person blocking his way, slightly annoyed.
He stepped back to increase the distance between them and said coolly, "Congratulations."
After all, she was Chloe's cousin, so he couldn't be too cold.
"Mr. Shawn, we are going for a dinner gathering. Would you like to join us?"
The other employees widened their eyes in surprise, not expecting her to dare to invite Michael.
Everyone in the company knew Michael was always cold and indifferent.
They had rarely seen him smile.
They thought Maya must be out of her mind to dare to approach him.
"I have other matters to attend to."
"But I've already called Chloe. I thought you might want to go too."
Maya showed a slightly disappointed expression.
Michael was a bit surprised. He didn't expect Chloe to go as well.
