“Am I late?” Sharon said, her voice a low growl that sent shivers down their spines. She walked into the room, her presence commanding and powerful. She was just wearing an ordinary long dress, but her aura exuded dominance, a sign of her werewolf nature honed through years of experience in the entertainment industry.
Donna greeted her with a mixture of relief and respect, her voice laced with a hint of fear. “Sharon, you’re finally here! We were just about to cut the cake!”
Sharon looked at her with piercing eyes, a threatening glint flashing across them. “I came right after the shooting ended, and I didn’t even have time to pick up the gift. Jessica will bring it over in a while!”
“Oh, that doesn’t matter. I’m already happy that you came!” Donna stuttered, her fear evident in her voice. Sharon’s presence was overwhelming, and Donna couldn’t help but feel a slight unease around her. Pinching Donna’s cheek aggressively, Sharon sneered, “How sweet of you!” “Come! Come!” Donna hastily pulled her further in, eager to please the powerful werewolf.
On the other side, Nelly let out a barely audible sigh of relief the moment she saw Sharon. Alpha Kilian, who stood beside her, could sense the tension in her. He leaned into her ear, his voice a low, menacing growl. “What’s the matter? What are you worried about?”
Looking at him with a mixture of fear and anticipation, Nelly raised her eyebrows slightly. “Take a guess.”
“Is someone else coming?” Alpha Kilian’s voice was filled with a sense of foreboding, his dark eyes staring into Nelly’s, full of certainty.
Nelly was stunned for a moment, the weight of her secret heavy on her shoulders. Alpha Kilian was perceptive, his sharp instincts uncovering the truth. She hoped that Spencer, the one person she feared would bring chaos, would somehow avoid showing up after he read her message.
Seeing that Sharon had finally arrived, Alpha King Larry assumed that everyone had gathered. He began to arrange the plans again, his voice firm and authoritative. But his attention was soon caught by Tony, who looked at Nelly with curiosity. “Oh right, Nelly, didn’t you say that a friend is coming, and you want to introduce us? Where is that friend?”
Hearing that, everyone’s eyes turned towards Nelly, their gazes piercing and demanding answers.
“Maybe something happened, and my friend can’t come anymore,” Nelly replied nonchalantly, desperately hoping Spencer had received her message and stayed away.
“Oh, okay, then,” Tony shrugged, brushing off Nelly’s response without much thought.
“Who said I can’t come?” A deep, resonant voice abruptly interrupted the conversation, causing everyone to turn towards the source. A man with an air of mystery walked in, his presence commanding attention.
Hearing that voice, Thalia, who had been laughing moments ago, froze in place. Her whole body tensed, and a mix of emotions flooded her. Did she hear it right? Could it really be him?
Everyone immediately focused their attention on the newcomer, Spencer. His black attire accentuated his brooding presence, and his flowing hair added to his enigmatic allure. A faint, charming smile played on his lips, captivating those who laid eyes on him.
“I just came a little late to pick up the presents. Who said I couldn’t come?” Spencer’s words were filled with a hint of mischief, his eyes dancing with amusement.
Locking eyes with the triplets, he approached them with confidence, introducing himself. “Hello, birthday boys and girl. My name is Spencer Teal. I have been friends with your mother for over ten years. I’ve been wanting to meet you guys, and I finally got the chance now!”
Spencer’s appearance held a mesmerizing quality, his features delicate and refined, rivaling that of a woman’s. His lips were temptingly red, his teeth pearly white, and his eyes held a captivating gaze that seemed to see through one’s soul.
Looking at him in awe, Donna couldn’t help but let out a breathless whisper, “You look so beautiful!”
Spencer’s surprise was evident, as he preferred to be praised for his handsome looks rather than beauty. But he had grown accustomed to such comments over the years. With a smile, he replied, “Thank you, but if it can be changed to being handsome, I’ll be happier!”
“You’re also handsome. You’re handsome and beautiful!” Donna gushed, her words dripping with admiration.
Spencer raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Donna’s flattery. “Thank you. You’re much cuter and kinder than your mother.”
He knew how to connect with children, his patience and warmth making him a natural with them. And looking at Donna, he couldn’t help but draw a comparison between her and Nelly, knowing that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
As he made his remark, Spencer shot a sarcastic glance towards Nelly, his eyes filled with a mix of emotions.
Nelly didn’t speak, her gaze fixed on Thalia, silently urging Spencer to do the same.
Spencer, perceptive as ever, followed Nelly’s silent instruction and shifted his gaze towards Thalia.
In that moment, Thalia slowly turned around, her eyes burning with resentment, hatred, and unacceptance.
The smile on Spencer’s face instantly froze, his heart racing as a wave of emotions washed over him. He had thought he could remain calm and unaffected upon seeing her, but he had clearly underestimated himself.
Withdrawing his gaze, he subconsciously glanced at Nelly, who wore a helpless frown. He knew deep down that Nelly would never do this on purpose. Something had gone wrong.
Unable to bear the weight of the situation, Spencer decided to make an abrupt exit. “I suddenly remembered I have something else to do, so I’ll be leaving now.”
Without waiting for a response, he swiftly turned around and left, leaving everyone bewildered and confused. The sudden departure left them questioning what had just happened.
But Thalia couldn’t let him go so easily. Her voice shattered the silence, filled with anger and desperation. “Stop!”
Spencer paused for a moment, his heart pounding in his chest. He debated whether to give in to her demands or to flee from the overwhelming emotions that threatened to consume him once again.
“I said stop, Spencer!” Thalia’s voice rang out, filled with fury and hurt. Spencer knew he couldn’t ignore her any longer. He had to face the consequences of their past.
But as Thalia chased after him, shouting accusations of cowardice, Spencer ran faster, desperately trying to escape. The tension hung heavily in the air, leaving everyone stunned and uncertain of what just occurred.
Even Tony looked at Nelly with confusion, seeking answers. “What’s going on, Nelly? Does your friend know Thalia?”
Nelly, unable to provide a satisfactory explanation, remained silent. The situation was too complex, too intertwined with their painful history. After a moment of contemplation, she looked at them and said, “I’ll go check on them.” With determined steps, she headed outside.
Alpha Kilian, uneasy about letting her go alone, swiftly followed her. “I’ll go with her. You guys stay here.” His protective instinct kicked in as he sought to keep Nelly safe.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Tony exchanged a glance with Ben and Donna, their unspoken communication conveying their shared concern. By the time Nelly stepped outside, Spencer and Thalia were nowhere to be seen.
Nelly frantically scanned the vicinity but found no trace of them. She reached for her phone and dialed Spencer’s number, hoping for some answers. But to her dismay, he didn’t answer.
Just then, Alpha Kilian appeared by her side, a strong and imposing figure. “What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice demanding but filled with concern.
Without revealing the full extent of her worries, Nelly simply shook her head, her eyes reflecting her inner turmoil. Alpha Kilian didn’t press further, understanding that some matters needed to be resolved by the individuals involved. “Let them solve their affairs by themselves. Them meeting each other is fate, right?”
Nelly looked at him, their past moments together resurfacing in her mind. She couldn’t help but smile, finding solace in his words.
“We should head back. The kids are still waiting to cut the cake,” Alpha Kilian suggested, grabbing her hand and leading her back inside.
As they walked back into the hall, Nelly noticed several tall, muscular foreign men approaching. Dressed in black, they seemed unremarkable at first glance. But as they passed by, Nelly’s attention was drawn to a tattoo on one of their arms.
It was the same tattoo adorning her late father’s shoulder.
Her steps faltered, her eyes widening in shock.
Noticing her sudden stillness, Alpha Kilian looked at her, concern etched on his face. “What’s wrong?”
Nelly didn’t respond, her mind racing with thoughts and memories. Shaking off his hand, she turned around and rushed outside, determined to uncover the truth.
