“Nelly!” the alpha growled, his voice full of urgency. There was an unsettled energy in the air, and he wasted no time in chasing after her.
Nelly, her feet clad in delicate high heels, stumbled after just a few steps, almost toppling over. Without hesitation, she kicked off the impractical shoes and sprinted out of the building.
A car idled menacingly at the entrance. When Nelly reached it, she discovered that three or four men had already climbed inside. Determined, she lunged for the last man about to enter.
Startled, the foreign man whipped his head around to face her. The others in the car turned their attention towards the commotion as well.
“Can I help you with something?” he asked in fluent Ustranian, thinking she was attempting to flirt. After all, encountering a beautiful woman in such a place was a rarity.
Ignoring his words, Nelly searched his arm for something. The man’s eyes narrowed, his lips curling into a smirk as he mistook her actions for flirtation.
“Are you trying to charm me, miss?” he chuckled, his voice dripping with pride. “I’m afraid I don’t have time for that now. How about you give me your number, and I’ll find you later tonight?”
Laughter erupted from the men inside the car.
In that moment, Nelly caught sight of a tattoo on the man’s arm and froze. It was similar, yet different, from the image etched in her mind.
Disregarding their laughter, she lifted her head and demanded, “Who are you?” The men were taken aback by her fluent Ustranian. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
“You speak Ustranian?” one of the men asked, his tone laced with surprise.
“What does this tattoo mean?” she pressed, ignoring their astonishment.
The man’s demeanor instantly shifted, his face growing serious at her inquiry.
“You recognize this tattoo?” he questioned, his smile slipping away. A dangerous aura emanated from him as he took two steps toward Nelly.
“Tell me!” Her eyes held no trace of fear as she stared him down.
The man sneered, “I can tell you, but there’s a price you’ll have to pay.” With that, he reached for the back of his waist.
Just as he was about to reveal whatever secrets he held, Alpha Kilian appeared, wedging himself between Nelly and the man.
The foreigner’s eyes narrowed at Alpha Kilian’s abrupt appearance. “Looks like another one wants to die!” he spat out.
“Feel free to try,” Alpha Kilian sneered, his voice simmering with rage. “We’ll see who meets their end first!”
The foreign man reached for his gun, only to be interrupted by a voice from within the car. “Erik!”
The voice was deep and commanding. “Don’t cause unnecessary trouble. We’re leaving now!”
Alpha Kilian glanced towards the car and noticed someone of higher authority sitting inside.
The foreign man studied Alpha Kilian and Nelly for a moment before holstering his gun.
“I’ll remember you. Don’t cross my path again,” he threatened, gesturing across his throat, believing he could intimidate Alpha Kilian.
But the alpha remained unfazed. He barely blinked, wearing a disdainful smile. “Be cautious of your own demise,” he returned with a seething calm.
Such taunts between the two men were not uncommon.
“And keep an eye on your woman!” With a final, warning glare, Erik climbed back into the car. The door slammed shut, and the vehicle sped away.
Determined, Nelly began to chase after the car. “Nelly!” Alpha Kilian called out, hastening after her.
As the car pulled further ahead, the driver said, “Boss, that girl is still following us!”
The passenger, casting a glance at Nelly through the rearview mirror, furrowed his brow behind his sunglasses.
“Boss, why don’t I take care of them?” Erik suggested.
“This is werewolf pack. Any hasty action will reveal your true nature. Besides, that man is no ordinary Alpha, he will be Alpha King soon.”
“But that woman recognized our tattoo!” Erik argued.
The passenger removed his sunglasses, his deep, sunken eyes taking on a gray hue. As Nelly’s figure grew smaller in the distance, a wicked smile curled his lips. “She doesn’t seem afraid of you, does she?”
“Perhaps she’s just a naive woman,” Erik dismissed.
The man with glasses chuckled. “You really don’t understand women.” Putting his sunglasses back on, he waved at the small dot disappearing in the distance. “Until next time, my dear!”
Meanwhile, Nelly chased after the car tirelessly. It wasn’t until the vehicle disappeared from her line of sight that she finally stopped, gasping for breath.
She stared in the direction the car had gone, memories of her parents engulfed in flames flashing through her mind. The tattoos had held no significance back then. It was only upon seeing the foreign man’s tattoo that the past resurfaced.
The tattoos were different, yet she knew deep down there was a connection.
Years of searching had led her nowhere. In that moment, Nelly realized the tattoo could be a clue, one she had forgotten.
On the bustling streets, she continued to gaze ahead, a thin layer of sweat on her forehead. Despite her pallid complexion, she remained strikingly beautiful.
Passersby couldn’t help but turn their heads, their attention drawn to her ethereal beauty. Some were so captivated that they even caused accidents.
The sounds of arguments and chaos fell on deaf ears as Nelly remained lost in her own world, unable to break free.
But then Alpha Kilian appeared, approaching her from behind. Surveying her, his eyes fell upon her wounded leg, causing his heart to ache.
He had known this woman for so long, yet witnessing her distressed state was unprecedented. Even in the face of accidents and assassination attempts, she had always possessed an unyielding mind and body. In this vulnerable moment, her tenderness stirred something within him, something that tugged at his heartstrings.
Alpha Kilian knew something was amiss with Nelly. Perhaps…
His eyes narrowed as he stepped closer. “Nelly!”
Nelly remained unresponsive, her gaze fixed on the vanishing car. A complex array of emotions flickered in her eyes.
“If you want to find them, I can assist you,” he offered. Only then did she snap out of her trance, turning to look at him.
“Trust me,” he urged, determination shimmering in his eyes.
Though she held no expectations for him, his words resonated deep within her.
“For now, let’s return,” he uttered, swiftly removing his jacket and draping it over her injured form before gathering her into his arms.
She didn’t resist; instead, she allowed herself to be carried.
Underneath the towering tree on the edge of the street, Alpha Kilian carried Nelly back to the hotel. Their captivating display caught the attention of onlookers, who believed they were witnessing a living painting.
Despite the melancholic expression on her face and the injury she bore, the scene possessed an otherworldly beauty that enthralled those who beheld it.
It was as if they had stepped into a scene extracted from a mesmerizing television drama.
