Chapter 14 I Don't Bother to Do That
"Hmph, I didn't expect you to be able to design as well. You're actually somewhat useful. I thought..."
Louis quickly stifled the laughter at the corner of his mouth, giving a disdainful snort as he stared at Blanche's delicate hands. Her surprised and repulsed expression just now made him feel uncomfortable.
Blanche tilted her chin slightly, revealing her snow-white forehead. Why couldn't this man stop making fun of people?
"What did you think?"
"I thought you only knew how to apply the cream to your hands."
Blanche was rendered speechless.
She noticed that Louis was walking towards the bed, so she followed him.
"For tonight, I'll be taking the bed, and you can make yourself at home on the sofa. We'll both have a night's sleep on the bed separately."
Louis's phone suddenly rang, and he glanced at the caller ID before answering.
After listening for a moment, his expression changed.
"Don't move from where you are, and I'll be there soon."
Louis hung up the phone and hurriedly left, the sound of his car starting up soon following.
Blanche pursed her lips. Although she didn't hear the specific content of the phone call just now, she did catch a glimpse of the caller ID - it was Cathy.
Blanche went to the balcony and saw that Louis' car had already driven far away, leaving only the taillights.
...
She slept until morning, and Louis didn't come back last night. When Blanche came downstairs, Louis' assistant Sam had arrived.
"Madam, I'm here to get a document for the CEO."
Blanche looked at Sam with scrutiny and nodded.
Sam entered the study to get the necessary information and came out. Blanche stopped him.
"What happened last night? Where is he?"
"Sorry, Mrs. Herbart, I can't tell you about the CEO's affairs. If you want to know, you should ask him personally."
Blanche's eyes sharpened. Cathy was an outsider but was quite popular in the Herbart family. Could it be that something happened last night...?
Blanche gave a disdainful snort. It seemed that the position of the Herbart's young madam was quite hot.
Sam was embarrassed. The CEO didn't come back last night, so Blanche must be guessing wildly. She was probably thinking too much.
"Mrs. Herbart, Mr. Herbart wouldn't do anything he shouldn't. Please don't think too much."
Blanche paused for a moment as she turned around, then she turned back and nodded lightly.
...
The scene was shifted to the hospital.
Yesterday, when Doris was returning to her country, someone targeted her halfway. The other party was aggressive and drove straight towards their car. Cathy supported Doris to get out of the car, and the driver continued to drive forward, finally getting rid of the other party.
Cathy and Viola hid in an alley, anxiously waiting for Louis to rescue them.
During the escape, Cathy scraped her knee. The doctor was now changing her dressing, and Louis was there too.
After the doctor had finished dressing her wound, he looked up.
"Don't worry, Mr. Herbart, Miss Bird's injury is not serious and hasn't affected any vital areas. She'll be fine."
Louis nodded, his eyes showing a hint of weariness. He had stayed with his grandmother in the hospital all night. His Grandma had been frightened, and her blood pressure had soared.
After the doctor left, Louis spoke up. "Thank you for protecting my grandmother yesterday. If you want compensation, just say it."
Compensation? Cathy was excited, and she really wanted to propose her dream come true. However, she remained rational and suppressed the idea that was about to come out.
"Louis, you're being too polite. Protecting your grandmother in times of danger is what I should do. By the way, my injury is minor, so I can leave the hospital. I'll go take care of your grandmother."
Cathy made a move to get out of bed.
Louis stopped her. "My grandmother is fine. Just rest and recover. If you need anything, ask the doctor. I'm going back to the company."
"Okay, go ahead." Cathy obediently said.
When Louis appeared at the door, Blanche just happened to pass by. The two of them almost collided.
Seeing Louis, Blanche widened her eyes. However, Louis spoke first.
"What are you doing here?"
Blanche was rendered speechless.
That was exactly what she wanted to ask Louis! However, a clear female voice came from the ward, and Blanche understood.
"Louis, has Miss Kent arrived?" Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Blanche glanced at the delicate and frail Cathy behind Louis, then looked back at Louis' scrutinizing gaze. She sneered.
"Don't look at me like that. Rest assured, and I didn't follow you here."
"It's better that way. Since Cathy gets hurt, you'd better put away those malicious thoughts. I hate women who play dirty tricks the most."
"Don't be so arrogant. As long as others don't harm me, I don't bother to deal with them either. Alright, meeting you two here is just my bad luck."
Blanche straightened her chest and walked towards her grandmother's ward.
Louis' face turned black. Did she still look down on them?
He threw his hand and left.
Cathy bit her teeth secretly, picked up her phone, and sent a message to a number.
"You did a good job last night. I'll transfer the money to your account."
Yes, last night, they were hit by a car driven by some thugs. It was her own plan, aimed at gaining favor with Doris.
Doris had the deepest dislike for her in the Herbart family.
Louis passed by a ward, and the voices of the conversation inside made him freeze in his steps.
