Chapter 17
As I scrubbed the floor, my mind was consumed with the anger and bitterness that had become my constant companions. I could feel the sweat dripping down my forehead, my aching muscles slowly dying with every movement I made. But I forced myself to keep working, my mind was starting to get numb to the pain anyway.
If I had just kept my mouth shut, maybe I would be somewhere lying down and thinking about what to eat instead of here in the garden working off food that wasn’t even in my stomach. I was starved and overworked and it wasn’t looking up for me either. It didn’t look like my faith was going to change anytiție soon.
The last time I tried to stand up for myself in front of the head maid, I know how that went for me and compared to this. I could consider myself lucky. The only that thing that annoyed me was how hungry I was feeling. My stomach was literally growling at intervals and it made me feel really bad for my baby
I heard that not eating enough food during pregnancy made babies come out underweight and I didn’t want that for my baby but right now, I knew it was least of my issues. I would be lucky if it made it out of me alive.
I was lost in my thoughts, reliving the nightmare that had become my life, when I heard footsteps approaching. My heart. skipped a beat, and I braced myself for the worst because nothing good ever happened to me since I stepped foot in this cursed land.
But when I turned. I found myself face-to-face with the Alpha who had approached me at the garden days ago.
He stood before me, a smirk playing across his lips as he studied my face. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, my hands trembling with fear and anger. We were alone and there was no saying what he would do to me.
“Well, well, well” he purred, his voice silky smooth. “Look at what we have here. The mighty Luna, reduced to a lowly slave I didn’t remember him being this rude. Was he finally starting to show his true colours?
I glared at him, my jaw clenched in defiance. “Leave me alone,” Isnarled. “I have no interest in talking to you.” I let him know.
The Alpha chuckled, unfazed by my anger. “You should have let me finish, I was heading somewhere.” Where the hell could he possibly be headed with the foul words that came out of his mouth? How was reminding me of a condition that I was fully aware of a good thing!
“What
are you doing here? I thought I warned you to stay away from me?” I yelled at him trying to keep the space between us since he kept inching close.
“I’m here to make you an offer pretty girl. An offer that has the power to change your life for the better. For a lot better.” He added staring at the rake in my hand and the pile of leaves that was only a few feet from us. Shame creeped up my throat a little but I couldn’t let him get to me. I couldn’t let him milk my desperation and try to rope me into whatever scheme he had planned. I knew nothing good could ever come out of him.
“When you hear what I’m about to offer you, I’m sure you’ll change the look on your face.” He teased and I rolled my eyes My curiosity itching just a little bit.
“Say whatever you want to say and be on your way, as you can see, I have a shit load of chores to do and talking isn’t going to get them done. My boss isn’t exactly fond of excuses either,”
The corner of his lips stretched upwards and his eyes looked like nothing but slits on his face as he smiled.
“Patience baby girl, patience.” He teased as he inched even closerThis text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
Stay the f**k where you are. 1 warned and he placed his hands in the air above his head.
“Calm down, I’m not going to hurt you. I come in peace, I mean no harm.” He said and I snickered.
“Said every serial or not killer ever, I muttered under my breath. I was barely audible and his face didn’t give away if he heard me
“I’m here to offer you a place in my pack. A better place. A place much more better than the one you’re in now. I promise to treat you better than he ever could.” He offered and it sounded just like how the devil would.
The Alpha’s words hung in the air like a poison cloud, and I could feel my rage and disgust just rising up
un within me. It as hard choosing whether to hit him in the head with the rake in my hand or kick him in the balls but I was reasonable enough not to choose either.
“You think I’d agree to become your slave?” I spat, my voice laced with venom. “You think I’d throw away my dignity, my self-respect, just to escape from this place? You must be sorely mistaken.”
The Alpha raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. “I think you’d be surprised what you’d agree to, if the alternative was staying here, a prisoner to Aston’s whims,” he said, his voice smooth and dangerous.
“And don’t try to deny it,” the Alpha continued, stepping closer still. “You know as well as I do that you’re trapped here, a pawn in his sick games. But with me, you’d have a chance at freedom, at a life away from this place.” He continued to advertise his offer.
“You and I know that the only reason you’re offering me a place in your pack is so you can have sex with me but guess what? I hate to break it you, it won’t be possible because I’m with child blurted and expected to be five steps away already but the desperation in his eyes grew and he moved even closer.
I could feel my heart racing, my mind whirling with the possibilities. But even as my desperation grew, I knew I couldn’t accept his offer. Not with the life growing inside me, not with the knowledge that I’d be abandoning my baby if I went with
bim
“That won’t disrupt anything. I know you know how hot you are He said licking his lips like that was supposed to make me happy, “I could take you to a place and help you get your baby removed, it’s not like you can raise it without the father anyway.” He added and I wrapped my hands around my stomach protectively.
“I won’t leave my baby behind,” I said, my voice firm and unwavering. “I won’t let you take me away from him, no matter what promises you make.” I made sure to make myself clear.
The Alpha’s expression hardened, his eyes flashing with anger and disappointment. “So you’d rather stay here, a slave to Aston and his minions, than take a chance at freedom?” he snapped. “You’re a fool, little Luna. A selfish, stubborn fool.”
I met his gaze, unflinching and resolute.
The tension in the air was palpable, the silence between us thick and heavy. I could see the Alpha struggling to contain his rage, his fists clenched at his sides.
“Fine,” he growled, his eyes burning with hatred. “Stay here, then. Stay here and rot with your precious baby. But don’t come. crawling to me when Aston decides he’s tired of your games and wants to kill you off.
He turned on his heel, his footsteps echoing through the hall as he stormed away. He took that a lot much better than I thought he would.
“Are you sure you don’t want to come with me? Sorry for getting mad at you.” He turned to say and I stared at him in surprise, I knew he was not sex starved so I didn’t understand why he looked so desperate.
“No I told him again.
“If that’s your decision then I’m fine with it. It was nice to have had a chance.” He said and strutted off.
I sank to the floor, my legs trembling with exhaustion and relief
As the Alpha’s footsteps faded into the distance, I allowed myself a moment to catch my breath. My body ached with the effort of scrubbing the floor, and my heart raced with the adrenaline of the encounter.
But I knew that I had made the right choice. I would not abandon my baby, not for anything or anyone.
With a shaking hand, I reached down to touch my belly, feeling the flutter of life inside me. “It’s just us, little one.” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. “We’ll get through this logether.”
I sat there for what felt like hours, the silence of the garden and cool breeze joining their hands to hug me. My mind drifted to the memories of my past, of my life before this nightmare had begun.
I remembered the days when I was a respected Luna, a proud member of my pack. I had never imagined that I would end up here, a slave to a man who saw me as nothing more than a plaything.
But I had to stay strong, for the sake of my baby. I would not let Aston and his stupid friends break me, no matter how hard they all tried.
