Chapter 2195
Chapter 2195
"Need a hand with that?" Gabriel, towering well over six feet, effortlessly reached up to pry open the cupboard door, following her request, he grabbed the pepper shaker and handed it to her.
"Thanks!" Sylvia beamed, "Could you also pass me the slotted spoon?"
Slotted spoon?
Gabriel eyed several different spoons and, taking her description to heart, picked the one with holes and handed it to her.
Sylvia praised him, "Spot on! You've got quite the knack for this!"
Gabriel chuckled, "Am I really that clueless about domestic stuff?"
Sylvia arched an eyebrow, "Aren't you?"
Gabriel frowned slightly but didn't argue.
All this was indeed unfamiliar territory for Gabriel. He had once even been intimidated by the mundane aspects of daily life, but now, immersed in it, it all seemed quite natural.
Waking up in the morning, cooking breakfast with a woman, sharing a meal, and then heading out to tackle the day together didn't seem as dull as he'd imagined.
The rich aroma of food in the kitchen, mixed with the subtle scent of the woman, created a blend unlike any other. Sylvia, who one wouldn't peg as the type to cook, seemed out of place in this domestic scene, yet now, it seemed perfectly harmonious.
Sylvia turned off the stove and smiled, "I only put pepper in my bowl, and since you don't like green onions, I've separated them out."
She spoke with gentle consideration as she served the soup, "Here you go, this one's yours."
Gabriel nodded slightly and took his bowl to the table.
Sylvia had also prepared an omelette and sandwiches, all arranged with the same delicate precision that she applied to everything she did. She was always a feast for the eyes.
Sipping her soup, Sylvia asked, "The call I took earlier, it's not going to cause you any trouble, right?"
Gabriel replied, "No, it won't."
Sylvia nodded, "Good."
She hesitated for a moment, "You'll still be my bodyguard today, won't you?"
"Mhm."
Sylvia's lips curled into a subtle smile and she focused on her meal. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
After they were done, they left together, Gabriel driving as usual, while Sylvia sat in the passenger's seat, visibly more relaxed than the day before.
"Oh," Sylvia suddenly turned to him, "you never mentioned what you want for being my bodyguard."
"Didn't I already receive something?" he said, eyes on the road.
Sylvia felt a warmth in her cheeks and whispered, "That doesn't count. You can ask for something else."
Gabriel smiled faintly, "I'll let you know when I think of something."
Sylvia nodded, "That's an open offer."
Their arrival at the company today stirred up even more excitement than the day before. After observing them the previous day, especially their cozy lunch, the staff was abuzz with speculation about the nature of their relationship.
And today he was back!
So the traffic to Sylvia's office, under the guise of work discussions, noticeably increased.
Sylvia could see through their intention. While she wasn't bothered, she worried Gabriel might be uncomfortable.
She had Milanda inform all departments that anyone visiting her office without a valid reason would forfeit their bonus for the month.
Once the message was delivered, her office finally became quite again.
After handling some paperwork and with noon approaching, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID; it was Baron.
In the past, she had dealt with clients who had less than professional intentions toward her. Knowing the trials of being a woman in business, she usually managed these interactions with a bit of charm and tact, avoiding outright confrontation.
But Baron was different; she felt an innate aversion to him and didn't even want to feign politeness.
She silenced her phone and set it aside, then got up and walked over to Gabriel.
