Chapter 2984
Shelly was extremely embarrassed by Fergus's words and stole a glance at Hayden to see his expression darkening.
"What is happening? This is hell!" she thought.
"Have the two of you already gotten to the point where you are discussing marriage?" Hayden had not anticipated that they would be moving forward with their relationship so swiftly or that Shelly would be so desperate to get married.
"No, Fergus is just messing around!" Shelly said.
"Haha! Yeah. I'm pursuing Shelly, but she hasn't agreed to it." Seeing how Hayden seemed interested in the topic, Fergus continued, "Shelly and I come from the same hometown. It's a remote, underdeveloped town. She was the first person that I had met from there since moving to Avonsville. It felt like fate. Moreover, we're around the same age, and, most importantly, our mothers know each other." An unreadable look crossed Hayden's face, one that could be interpreted as displeasure, but Shelly felt like he had a similar expression on most of the time.
"Shelly, what are your thoughts on this?" Hayden asked.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Shelly's cheeks flushed as she voiced her thoughts: "It's true that Fergus and I are from the same hometown and that our families are well-acquainted, but I've only just met him, so I don't know him well enough to make a decision yet. It's too early to talk about marriage."
"So, if you were to consider marriage, you would think about him, right?" Hayden continued.
"I don't want to get married right now. As I mentioned before, my focus is on my career. I want to buy a house in Avonsville and bring my family over in the future," Shelly replied.
"It's just a house, and with the current profitability of your cafe, you should be able to achieve that goal by the end of the year," Hayden remarked.
"I hope it goes that smoothly!" Shelly expressed.
"So, once you buy your house at the end of the year, you'll consider marriage?" Hayden casually poured himself a glass of water.
"I don't know... I'll know how I feel when the time comes. After I've bought the house." Shelly felt deeply conflicted.
She had not really thought much about the future.
Until now, her focus had been on running the cafe successfully, earning some money, and improving her life. She had not expected the business to flourish so quickly with the help of the Foster family.
"Shelly, I truly have feelings for you. I

didn't know you were friends with my boss before, but now that I know, I will be even more careful with Fergus took this opportunity to express his thoughts. "I know I might have rushed things a bit, but please don't be frightened by me. From now on, observe my actions, and you will see that my intentions are not impulsive or reckless. I genuinely want to build a family with you."
Hayden could not bear to listen any longer and stood up. "You two carry on with your meal. I have something else to attend to."
Just like that, he left.
Fergus was taken aback for a moment.
Shelly immediately stood and caught up with Hayden. "Haydenz you said earlier that you had something you needed to discuss with me. You haven't mentioned what it is yet!"
"I took the pickle you gave me back home. My mom loves it," he said.
That was an excuse: Hayden simply wanted to ask Shelly about what had transpired between her and Fergus the night before.
Now that he knew how things had progressed, what he had wanted to say was no longer important.
"Then the next time I visit Aiden, I'll bring some more," Shelly whispered to Hayden in a voice only they could hear.
Hayden nodded. "If you decide to accept his proposal, will you tell him about the child?"
"I told him last night. I mentioned that I have a child, and he said he doesn't mind," Shelly replied.
Hayden let out a cold laugh. "He doesn't care because he doesn't love you. A man who truly loves you would never be this indifferent about this sort of thing." With that, Hayden walked away.
Shelly returned to her seat and sat down.
"What were you two talking about just now? It seems like you are quite familiar with each other," Fergus mentioned curiously.
"Nothing." Shelly pondered the
words Hayden had just said and,
upon careful consideration, found some truth in them. "Fergus, let's just be friends. Please refrain from doing anything beyond the boundaries of friendship. I truly haven't considered marriage at this point."
