Chapter 734: Is This Your Biorobot, Don't You Recognize It?
Tina lifted a hand, tilting Stephanie's chin upward with a cool expression, "Do I need to remind you how your grandmother treated my mother-in-law? My mother-in-law exhausted all kindness towards your Lyon family. What reason would she have to avoid seeing your grandmother?"
Stephanie bit her lip, clearly unwilling, "But you still can't just kidnap my brother. I admit I did wrong, and you used me as a test subject, I accept that punishment, but what did Eric do wrong? He was just at home, and you took him prisoner, how is that right?"
Tina, expressionless, released her chin and wiped her hands with a tissue again, unhurriedly, "Nathan, bring him in."
Soon, Nathan entered from outside, carrying a biorobot that looked exactly like Eric on his shoulder.
With a thud.
The robot was thrown mercilessly to the ground, landing right at Stephanie's feet.
Its emotionless, icy eyes stared straight at the siblings, causing Stephanie to scream in fright.
She turned and hid in Eric's arms.
Eric's face also changed, the anger from being detained for several days dissipating under Jared's icy gaze.
It was as if he finally realized what he had done.
His face was pale, his hands trembling as he shielded Stephanie behind him, "What is this thing? Why does it look exactly like me?"
Tina looked him straight in the eye, "What? You don't recognize this thing?"
"How could I recognize it?!"
Eric immediately retorted, "Is this a robot? Why would you make a robot that looks like me, Tina? I'm already like this. I can't even compare to my sister, I have no way to fight against you, why can't you just let me go?" His face showed genuine bewilderment and helplessness.
Courtney, who believed she had seen countless smooth-talking criminals, could almost always tell if they were lying, though not always with absolute certainty.
But at this moment.
Looking at Eric, she couldn't tell at all if he was lying.
Nathan, with a stern face, pulled out a news article previously suppressed by higher-ups: "Mr. Lyon, even if you haven't seen this robot, you should have seen this news, right? A biorobot, don't you recognize it?" Eric was startled, "Should I recognize it?"Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
Jared's cold gaze shifted slightly, his toe tapping on a hole in the biorobot's head, "This biorobot was found in my mother-in-law's hospital room, Eric, quite bold? Hurting my mother-in-law, huh?"
Eric was panicking inside, seeing Jared's demeanor, it seemed he was certain that Eric was behind the biorobot!
His hands clenched into fists unconsciously, thinking about how to spin his tale.
Stephanie didn't even dare to look that way.
Her hands tightly clutched Eric's shirt, her eyes buried in his chest alternating quickly between nervous and fierce. Bastards!
What exactly do they want?!
Eric, such a useless person, what could he possibly do that would be so outrageous?!
These two, they must be trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, to kill them too!
Absolutely cannot let them succeed!
Stephanie's eyes suddenly fierce, she tremulously stepped out from Eric's embrace, "What if someone else deliberately made it to look like Eric? He was previously captured and taken to Alderanth, who knows what those people did using him? We are still a family after all. Tina's mother, Eric doesn't even know what she looks like, how could he possibly send someone to harm her?"
She spoke in a gentle, analytical tone.
Tina and Jared exchanged a knowing look, raising their eyebrows as if they were listening intently, and nodded for Stephanie to continue. This almost tacit approval gave Stephanie the courage she needed. Eric, panicked inside, couldn't help but feel a stroke of luck as he straightened his posture. Yet, he remained silent, his body trembling as he stood there.
Watching Stephanie approach him again, she said, "You've seen what kind of person he is. He's too timid to even kill a chicken, let alone harm Tina's mother. And if he really wanted to harm her, why would he send an android that looks just like himself? Even a fool wouldn't do such a thing."
Stephanie did not notice the momentary stiffness in Eric's body after she finished speaking. Tina, however, caught it, her beautiful eyes flashing with a dark gleam.
"There is some sense in that," she said, her lips finally curving into a smile.
"Mr. Lyon, what do you have to say?"
Caught off guard, Eric stuttered, "I-I think my sister is right. Tina, could it be an internal issue? After all, only someone from within would know your mother's whereabouts. And, I-I don't have the capability to create androids."
At this, Tina laughed, a laugh as chilling as a poisonous poppy. After a moment, she composed herself and tossed a used napkin into the trash can, speaking softly, "Then it must be an internal issue, Uncle. We need to investigate thoroughly." Jared's expression remained stoic, his eyes sharp as he looked at Eric, his voice hoarse, "Yes, we need a thorough investigation. We can't wrong my cousin."
Tina's lips slightly curled as she looked at Eric, "You rest. We'll look into it and find out who is courting death!"
For some reason, despite their belief in his words, Eric felt increasingly anxious. He couldn't shake the feeling that Tina and Jared were implying something else, perhaps hiding some unknown threat.
Lost in his thoughts, Eric didn't notice when Tina and Jared left the villa. By the time he realized, only Stephanie was left with him, even the guards had gone.
"Eric!"
Stephanie suddenly shouted, glaring at him with a dark expression, "What exactly are you hiding from me? Do you want to scare me to death?"
She had never ceased to resent Tina, but her concern for Eric was genuine. He was her younger brother, and she couldn't just watch him get into trouble right before her eyes.
Catching Stephanie's eye, Eric suddenly had an idea. He grabbed her hand urgently, "Sis, we can't just sit here and wait for death. Staying here, they'll kill us one day!"
Stephanie winced as he gripped her hand painfully and pulled it away, irritated, "Of course, I know we can't go on like this, but what can we do? The Lyon family has fallen, and my former backers are gone. Now it's just the two of us, relying on the Farrell family."
"No! We have a chance!"
Eric insisted.
Stephanie was taken aback, "What chance?"
"If we can change the leadership of the Farrell family, we won't have to depend on anyone," Eric's eyes gleamed with resolve.
Stephanie looked at him in astonishment, "Are you crazy? The Farrell family is the most powerful in Ashbury. It's not that easy to change their leadership!"
"Just trust me, I have a plan. Just make sure to back me up when the time comes," Eric said, his eyes dancing with excitement.
