Chapter 735: No One Believes Tina Anymore
In the Reed family home, Damian had just resolved a thorny issue at work and returned. As he opened the door and was about to call out Juliet's name, he was startled to see several people sitting in the living room. "Tina, Mr. Farrell, what brings you here?"
"Is there any progress with Juliet's matter?"
Damian sighed in relief as he realized what was happening, and approached everyone with his briefcase in hand.
Juliet poured him a glass of water. Griffin, who had scarcely been home, had just pushed out a freshly made breakfast.
Tina observed everything and knew that Damian had already talked things through with Griffin. The remaining three members of the Reed family were now living together harmoniously.
"I just came to see how things are; it's nothing important."
She tapped on the armrest of the sofa and tilted her chin, signaling Damian to look at the android.
Almost immediately, Damian's relaxed expression changed.
"Tina, you have to believe me. I've destroyed all those things, not one is left!"
At this point, Juliet also spoke up in support of Damian.
"Tina, could there be some misunderstanding?"
She had been questioning Nathan as he carried the man in.
Tina had no choice but to wait for Damian's return. Griffin, seeing his brother's anxious demeanor, scoffed, "Tina, I admit my brother was a jerk before. But there were reasons for his actions, and now his survival instinct is so strong, this mustn't be his doing."
The united front was evident.
Tina raised an eyebrow and spread her hands in resignation.
"I didn't say it was his doing; why are you all so anxious?"
The three members of the Reed family exchanged looks, their expressions suggesting they felt accused.
Jared watched amusedly as Tina teased the three Reeds, his dark eyes filled with indulgence.
Nathan and Courtney looked from one to another, unsure whether to comment on Tina's wicked sense of humor or laugh at the Reed's bewildered expressions.
Tina pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration.
"I just came by because I had nothing else to do and wanted to see you all."
Damian, "..."
Griffin, "..."
Juliet, "..."
After a few seconds of silence, Juliet spoke, "Do you believe what you just said?"
Tina, "... Is my credibility really that low?"
Juliet, "What do you think?"
Since the Reed family's incident, Tina's visits had been infrequent, and each was marked by some impending issue.
This time, she claimed she was just visiting, but she had brought along an android, making it hard for anyone to believe her bluff. Tina, "..."
No one believed her anymore, and that was troubling!
Tina pinched her brow again, clearly exasperated.
"Alright, there actually is something."
At her words, Damian and the others tensed up instantly.
Tina, frustrated by their reaction, turned to Damian.
"Gemma wants to see you."
Damian was visibly shaken, then stood up, looking at Tina in astonishment.
"Really?"
Griffin and Juliet looked confused.
"Who's Gemma?"
Faced with his siblings' questions, Damian's face flushed with a hint of red. His family was unaware of his dealings with Gemma.
He cleared his throat awkwardly and told Griffin and Juliet, "I'll explain later."
Turning back to Tina, he asked, "Did Gemma really say she wants to see me? When and where? Is it just to meet, or has something happened? Should I..."
Damian was so eager for the meeting with Gemma that he was almost panicking. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
"She asked you to meet her tomorrow at two in the afternoon at the cafe. She didn't say why; you'll have to ask her yourself when you see her," Tina said, seemingly at a loss for words. Damian pursed his lips and after a long pause, looked up at Tina, "Why didn't she come to find me herself?"
Was she using Tina to relay the message because she planned to distance herself from him in the future?
Tina's eyes narrowed and her expression deepened, "You'll know once you're there."
Upon hearing this, Damian's heart suddenly sank.
Leaving the Reed family's place, Tina looked around nonchalantly.
She took Jared's arm and got into the car, "To the Shaw family."
"The Shaw family?"
Jared asked, puzzled.
"Aren't we going to eat first?"
Tina shook her head, "The Lindens know about my mom being targeted, and they insisted I visit to clarify things. There's no way around it."
Jared said, "So those life-threatening serial calls yesterday were from them?"
Seeing Tina nod, Jared chuckled, "Then let's skip it. What do you want to eat? I'll take you."
If it weren't for those two old men yesterday, he might have coaxed Tina into another romantic bath.
Thinking about calling them over for a questioning? Nice try!
However, their meal was not meant to be peaceful.
Just as the food they ordered was served, Tina's phone began to ring again.
Seeing it was an unknown number, she frowned but answered.
Ella Bailey's arrogant voice came through, "Tina, I'm warning you, hand over the formula now, or I'll kill Elsa!" Tina's hand paused while picking up food, "Let me hear Elsa's voice."
"I'm not negotiating with you!"
Ella Bailey choked up, then raised her voice, "If you don't believe me, call the Dyer family right now!"
Her voice turned icy, "Elsa is in my hands. If you don't want her dead, hand over the item within an hour!"
"Send me the address."
As the food in front of her was about to go cold, Tina lost patience to continue the conversation.
She hung up after a final remark and told Jared, "Have your people check Elsa's location and send someone to secretly protect her."
The smartphone worked well, and Jared hadn't heard what was said on the other side.
Nonetheless, with Tina's direction, he had no objections.
After arranging for someone through Nathan, he asked, "What happened?"
As they ate, Tina explained, "Ella Bailey claims she kidnapped Elsa, and when I asked to speak to Elsa, she refused. Who knows what she's up to. What do your people say?" Finding Elsa's location wasn't difficult.
It took less than two minutes after Jared gave the order for a response: "Elsa is at a suburban shopping mall, my people are already on their way."
Who kidnaps someone and meets at a shopping mall?
Hearing this, Tina felt relieved, and the braised pork in her mouth tasted even sweeter.
Jared loved watching her eat with no guard up, acting like a spoiled little daughter.
He never stopped feeding her, occasionally taking a bite himself.
In a dilapidated factory on the outskirts of Ashbury.
Ella Bailey slapped a mosquito sucking blood on her leg with a pop.
Her agitated mood was plainly visible on her face as she anxiously checked the time on her phone, "What time is it now? That girl Tina, she better not be dead on the road!"
