Chapter 141
Viper grew even more furious. “Oh, yeah? You think you can beat all of us by yourself!
“Guys, get him! His life is all we need!”
At his command, five or six men suddenly lunged at Dominick.
“Dominick! Watch out!”
Lola’s heart tightened as she watched him anxiously,
Dominick swiftly stepped aside, dodging the punch!
He grabbed his attacker’s hand and kicked him away!
Another man saw this, charging at Dominick with a punch!
Dominick easily dodged. But the next second, the first attacker, enraged, scrambled to his feet and turned his fury on Lola, who Dominick had been shielding.
The
man pulled out a knife out of nowhere and aimed it straight at Lola!
Dominick was being attacked head–on while another man was rushing toward Lola from the side!
He didn’t hesitate for a second, turning and exposing his most vulnerable side, completely shielding Lola.
Lola barely had time to react when the man holding her suddenly slumped.
A dagger was buried deep in Dominick’s left arm, blood gushing down his shoulder.
“Dominick Dominick, what’s wrong?” she cried out.
But the man had already lost consciousness, his tall body collapsing into Lola’s arms.
Dus
“You…you promised to keep us alive! Look what you have done! Aren’t you worried about the consequences?” Lola’s voice trembled.
Viper scoffed; his eyes gleaming with smug satisfaction. “Take them away!”
Dominick didn’t know how long he had been unconscious. Even unconscious, he couldn’t find any peace, his body throbbing with pain.
After what felt like an eternity, his thoughts started to come together, and something came to mind.
“Lola… Lola…
Dominick repeated her name over and over. Before he blacked out, she was all he could think about, and even now, through the fog, she was still his main concern.
“Dominick? Are you awake? Hey, can you hear me?” Lola’s voice was full of worry.
Dominick gradually regained consciousness, his senses sharpening.
He could hear Lola’s voice and felt a stabbing pain.
“Ugh…” he groaned, and his face twisted in agony.
“What’s wrong? Are No
you’ll die!”
still in pain? Dominick, wake up! You’ve been asleep for a whole day. You need to eat something, or

Fighting through the pain. Dominick tried to gather his thoughts and finally managed to open his eyes slowly “Lola… he whispered weakly. His voice was so faint that she had to lean in close to hear him:
Lola leaned in closer, lowering her voice. Tm here. What do you want to say??
Dominick’s first thought wasn’t about his throbbing shoulder but the fact that Lola actually seemed worried about him!
He suddenly smirked. “So, you do care about me.”
Lola bristled, feeling like he was teasing her. She stood up without hesitation.
“You seem line to me. Now get up and feed yourself. Just don’t starvel‘ she snapped, partly out of spite.
Dominick’s eyes twinkled with amusement at her reaction.
“I told you, the only way out of our contract is my death. You’re worried about me now, so you don’t want to break the contract, do you?”
Lola instantly regretted showing any concern. He was the devil himself who would never die!
“I forgot, okay? Let’s pretend I didn’t say anything. Now, just die so we can void this stupid contract!” Lola crossed her arms over her chest.
Dominick found Lola more and more endearing with each passing moment.
“Alright, enough jokes. Where are we?”
Dominick looked around. They seemed to be in a small wooden cabin. The room was small, with only a bed, a worn–out sofa, and windows that were welded shut. The door was firmly closed.
Hearing this, Lola sighed and sat on a wooden chair next to Dominick.
“As you can see, we’re locked up.”
Dominick frowned slightly, “You said I’ve been unconscious for a whole day. They must be really patient since they haven’t done anything to us yet.”
Lola nodded slightly. “Not only that, but they’ve been sending us bowls of vegetable soup every day. It’s like they’re worried we’ll kick the bucket in here.”
It was all very strange.
Dominick glanced at his arm, wrapped in a simple bandage.
“Bandages, vegetable soup… They don’t want us dead, but they won’t let us go. And no one’s coming to cause trouble.”
Dominick looked up at Lola. I know who’s behind this.“\\
Lola was slightly taken aback. “You do? Who?”
Dominick wasn’t sure how to explain it to Lola. This might bring up some troubles, but at this point, he couldn’t keep it from her any longer.
He had to put it another way.
“The Richardson family.”
In Lola’s memory, the only Richardsons she knew of were her grandparents.
In childhood memories, it had been a long time since the family had any contact with grandparents.
“That’s impossible.
No matter how long it had been, they were still Lola’s grandparents and family. Dominick had to be mistaken.
“It must be the Richardson family.”
“No way! Don’t be ridiculous! Are you making this up? Are you messing with me again? What are you up to this time!” Dominick frowned slightly, the wound on his arm throbbing more painfully.
“Why would I risk my life to mess with you? The stakes are too high.
“Besides, the fact that you’re so quick to deny it instead of being surprised tells me you know there’s a good chance I’m right.” Dominick gritted his teeth against the pain and slowly sat up.
“Even though the Richardsons are your grandparents, you must understand that when it comes to interests, even family can change
“Since you don’t believe me, let’s consider the opposite. What if the Richardson family is really behind all this?
Think about it. That guy with the scar was surprised when he saw you because he thought you were Jenna. After calling the Richardsons, he realized you weren’t, so he abducted you too.”
Lola felt something inside her breaking bit by bit. “But both Jenna and I are their granddaughters. Why would they do this? “Jenna’s been with the Richardsons ever since she left the Lewis family. It makes sense that they’d favor her a little more
Dominick changed his approach, without saying that Jenna had collaborated with the Richardsons to bring down the Lewis family and himself.
