Chapter 988
Brielle furrowed her brow, sizing up the man in front of her without taking his outstretched hand. Myles, seemingly unfazed by her scrutiny, glanced around the room instead. "Lost, are you? I can show you the way out," he offered.
The upper floors of the casino were seldom visited by outsiders, and Brielle had made her way up the stairs without any interference. The place was vast, each section boasting a unique atmosphere, a testament to how much the elusive King enjoyed his luxuries. There was something about Myles that Brielle didn't quite trust. He exuded a sense of danger, mixed with an indescribable aura. With a frown, she turned to leave the way she'd come, but Myles followed closely behind. "Here to see King?"
Brielle had no recollection of Myles, but despite his seemingly cold demeanor, he had an odd warmth towards her.
"Yeah."
"He's injured. It'll be a while before he's back on his feet."
Something felt off to Brielle, but she couldn't put her finger on it. By the time they reached the ground floor, she was acutely aware of his presence behind her, and her tone grew colder. "Is there something you want?"
"I'm Ramey's cousin."
Ramey? Brielle was taken aback and took a closer look at Myles. Indeed, there was a resemblance. But his skin was unusually pale, as if he hadn't seen daylight in ages. "What's your relation to King?"
"I'm his doctor." When Myles saw she was inclined to talk more, his lips curved into a small smile. "How's the toast to his health? He told me he's been staying at the Premier Palace."
In Brielle's world, Ramey was a distant relative of Wesley, and Myles, being Ramey's cousin, must also be related to Wesley.
"Yeah."
"I'd like to pay him a visit. Would Ms. Brielle mind?"
Curious about the unease she felt around Myles, Brielle nodded in agreement.
Downstairs, the atmosphere was electric. Chase stood in the center of the action, surrounded by a mountain of chips, while other players were losing their shirts. Chase, with a satisfied arch of his brow, casually grabbed some chips and tossed them into the air, winking at the cocktail waitresses.
"Thanks for the drinks, ladies. Go and treat yourselves."
Afterward, he wrapped his arm around a bombshell standing nearby and planted a kiss on her cheek, making her blush fiercely.
"Chase, you're such a tease."
From a distance, Brielle watched with disdain. "Playboy."
Chase laughed, grabbed another handful of chips, and slipped them into her cleavage, clearly taking advantage.
"Oops, Chase, maybe I should go home with you tonight. I'm good at... everything."
Those chips must be worth millions, she thought. Chase was indeed a big spender. Brielle hurried to intervene, pulling Chase away.
Chase blew a kiss to the woman. "Rain check, sweetheart."
Once outside the casino, Chase's expression turned serious as he glanced at Myles. Brielle had only been inside for half an hour, and now she was walking out with a man.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
A purchase? He patted her shoulder with newfound respect. "Never would've guessed. Birds of a feather, huh?"
His face was all smiles, but his eyes
were warily sizing up Myles. Myles just stood there quietly, his gaze occasionally drifting over to Brielle Chase dropped her off at the
Premier Palace and gave Myles, who intended to stay at the Palace, one last look. Considering that Max's people were still around, he decided not to meddle further.
His job was done. As for any discoveries Brielle might make, that was for her to know. Inside the Premier Ralace, Ramey was already waiting. He had suggested that Brielle should get out more, but with her mental state uncertain, he remained close by, ready to hypnotize her if necessary. But he wouldn't resort to deep hypnosis until her emotions stabilized.
Upon seeing the man following Brielle, Ramey's eyes lit up. "Cousin!"
Brielle hadn't objected to Myles accompanying her, considering she had Chase beside her, and with Addison and Aiden trailing in their vehicle, Myles, who was all alone, was unlikely to try anything with so
meges. And once inside
the Premier Palace, they were in Max's territory. With many of Max's people around, Myles had no chance to pull any stunts.
