Chapter 989
"Cousin? What brings you to Beaconsfield? I thought you said-"
Ramey cut himself off, glancing at Brielle, and fell silent.
Brielle sensed they had something private to discuss, so she retreated to her bedroom.
Recently, she'd been feeling weak and constantly tired. She had no idea why. But to anyone else, it was obvious-she'd been through a lot and lost a child; her body just couldn't handle it all.
In Brielle's world, Max was on a business trip. When she started hearing things that weren't there, she almost forgot the baby altogether, which only added to her confusion about her health. Restless, she tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. Minutes later, her phone rang. She reached for it, but the screen was dark.
"Are you asleep? Did you get out of the casino?"
Max's voice brought her immediate relief.
"Yeah, I'm out. I ran into someone who looked like King, but I doubt he'd let me see his real face so easily."
"Stay cautious around him."
""I will. I'll wait for you to come back."
""Good girl."
After hanging up, Brielle, who had been wide awake, drifted off to sleep. It was her subconscious protecting her, with the imagined Max advising her to be wary of Myles.
Downstairs, Ramey pulled Myles into the garden, away from prying eyes and cameras, and whispered urgently.
"Cousin, why didn't you tell me you were coming? I know Brielle was your patient. After deep hypnosis, you're not supposed to see her. What are you doing here?"
Though Ramey called Myles 'cousin,' they barely knew each other, having met more at conferences than family gatherings. Myles was always an enigma, renowned for his top-tier hypnosis skills, but his client list was a mystery to Ramey. Myles glanced around the Premier Palace and smiled faintly.
"Didn't I tell you to stay away from Brielle? You're an only child. Could your parents bear losing you?"
Ramey's eyes widened, unsure if Myles was joking or threatening.
"What could possibly happen to Brielle now? I never thought someone as strong as Mr. Dorsey would just... leave."
Myles's brow furrowed, clearly at
wanting to discuss Dorsey. He looked up to the second floor, his eyes filled with complicated emotions.
"Why are you here, cousin? What's your plan with Brielle?"
"Just checking on a patient's condition."
Ramey exhaled in relief. If Brielle had been Myles's patient, he'd know her well.
Ramey hadn't had much chance to treat Briette. Max wanted to stabilize her emotions first, but after Max's incident and her month-long coma, Ramey hadn't had the opportunity.

Ramey asked Wesley to arrange a room for Myles. Wesley, knowing Ramey was a hypnotherapist and could help Ms. Brielle, quickly obliged.
Late at night, Brielle felt unwell, as if something was bothering her. She thought she heard a faint noise at the door.
She got up, threw on a robe, and opened her bedroom door. Nothing.
Wrapping her robe tighter, she went downstairs. The villa was pitch black, faintly lit by the dim light from outside.
"Max?" she called, hoping he had returned. Silence.
Thinking he might be outside, she opened the living room door. Nothing.
She must have dreamt the noise, mistaking it for his footsteps.
Feeling disappointed, she turned to close the door but froze at the sight of a shadowy figure on the couch.
In the dim light from the window, she could see his masked face.
