Mr Grant, Please Be Gentle

Chapter 1585 : Much like a person

Inside the hospital ward, Charles White was sitting on the bed with his eyes closed, when Winnie came back from outside to get takeaway.

“You can’t eat anything spicy or exciting for a while, have some porridge.”

Winnie ripped open a box of porridge and handed it to Charles White.

Charles White joked and took it, “I’ll still have a chance to eat when I’m healed, but if I don’t escape, I won’t be able to eat anymore.”

“Say something auspicious.” Winnie complained, she was really freaked out today.

“Scared, right?” Charles White put the porridge aside to dry, his eyes deep, looking at Winnie’s gaze full of deep emotion.

Without dodging, Winnie met his eyes and asked, “Who are you looking at through me?”

At her question, Charles White looked as if his secret had been discovered and smiled covertly.

“No.”Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

“I don’t believe it.” Winnie shook her head with a light smile, never taking her eyes off Charles White’s face, and she could see his panic.

He was lying.

She must look like someone, Winnie thought, and every time they met, he treated her with a strong sense of long goodbye.

The person she resembled must have been very important to Charles White.

Charles White took the porridge and ate it, avoiding Winnie’s eyes.

Winnie also stopped asking questions, intuition tells her, Charles White must have a story.

Winnie lowered her eyes and fixed them on one spot, thinking that this might be the key to her breaking through to Charles White.

“Aren’t you going to tell the family?”

“Selina couldn’t take the shock and couldn’t tell.” Charles White teased, “Why don’t you stay, I was hurt trying to save you.”

“Yeah, that’s all right.”

Winnie was very generous, and staying was just what she wanted, such a good opportunity to maybe talk about his company in the middle of a conversation.

But Charles White didn’t really let her stay, the situation of a lonely man and a woman, if Selina knew, he had no way to explain.

In the afternoon, Charles White’s assistant, Goss, came to take care of him.

When he saw Winnie at the door, Goss seemed quite surprised.

“Goss,” Charles White said with a warning in his tone, “take Miss Winnie home first.”

“Yes, President White.”

Goss slightly owed and looked at Winnie again with much more normal eyes, but Winnie could still feel that Goss, like Charles White, was looking at someone through himself.

“I’m off, you take care of your injuries.”

Winnie barked and then took the lead, with Goss following close behind.

The vip ward is on the ninth floor, there is a direct elevator to the first floor, there are not many people on this floor, only Winnie and Goss after getting on the elevator.

Winnie stared at the numbers on the screen, and asked casually, seemingly unintentionally.

“You’ve been with President White for a long time, right?”

“Yes, six years.” Goss said truthfully.

Winnie smiled and turned her face away.

“Do I look like anyone? You didn’t look at me right when you walked in the door, as if you saw someone you knew. If Charles White hadn’t reminded you, I’m afraid you would have recognized me wrong.”

“Sorry, I was rude just now, I thought President White was the only one in the ward, I was just surprised to see you.”

Winnie saw in Goss’s eyes only a panicked defense, he obviously did not have the mental quality of Charles White.

“You don’t have to rush to deny it, I’m just asking, do we really look alike?”

“…” Goss bowed his head and stopped talking, which was tantamount to acquiescing to all this.

“It really seems so, you do not say I have a way to know, not to embarrass you.”

Elevator doors open, Winnie said as she got off the elevator, “No need to drive me, I’ll take a taxi myself.”

Goss stared at the distant figure and did not follow.
