My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0381

Chapter 0381

Solaris has recently experienced a lot of rain. The drizzle and chill were sealed outside by securely closed doors and windows, making the atmosphere inside oppressively hot.

Sonia sat on the sofa, pale-faced, staring at her phone.

Quentin went to take a shower.

She had just messaged Alex, wishing he could come and take her away. Sonia didn't want to come here, let alone see Quentin. She was, however, unable to continue working at Horizon Holdings.

Sonia was struggling with work, but no one was willing to help her. As a result of the circumstances, she was isolated at Horizon Holdings.

Xavier had agreed to help her. However, he had not kept any of his promises and was now flirting with other women. Even the trip to Solaris to see Quentin was arranged by Xavier, but what that meant was apparent to her.

Sonia grasped her phone. She had repeatedly messaged Alex. He was only next door, staying in that bitch's room.

The sound of the bathroom door opening halted Sonia's movements.

Quentin stepped out of the shower, wearing only a towel. He had a flabby waist and abdomen. The sight of it repulsed Sonia.

"Sonia," he said suggestively, "come over and help me with the towel."

Sonia froze. She sat on the sofa and refused to move.

Quentin repeated her name a few more times. He became agitated and was ready to approach Sonia when his phone rang.

His face flushed with irritation as he proceeded to answer the phone, providing Sonia with a moment of relief.

She was about to relax when she overheard Quentin's irked reply, "I know Burning Star Studio has a lot of people pushing it, but nothing's been decided yet. We will discuss the specifics later."

Sonia looked up at Quentin. Before her arrival, Xavier had frequently stressed Quentin's importance. She hadn't noticed it before, but now, she wondered if it had something to do with Burning Star Studios.

She was filled with resentment as she recalled Candice's patronizing attitude toward her. Her animosity was so deep that she wanted to grind her teeth in frustration.

Sonia could not bear the thought of being trampled by Candice's feet.

Quentin has just ended his call. His brow was furrowed, indicating displeasure.

Sonia chewed on her lip. She suppressed her rage and approached him with a coquettish and timid tone. She said, "Quentin... "

Candice felt cold early in the morning. She put on a windbreaker before leaving.

Redshade Corporation's tender conference had only just begun. Abel had reminded her yesterday that the group's leader would come to speak with them today.

Being able to attend this conference demonstrated the firm's capabilities. As a result, the group's representative's visit served as an early point of contact with the selected studios.

Candice held a quick meeting with Hanley and the others before leaving. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Before the meeting finished, Ryan said, "Boss, aren't you heading to Solaris in a few days? Perhaps you two can look into it together."

Candice asked, "Hanley, are you visiting Solaris?"

"Yeah. There are certain materials that Dorrington is missing, and they're only available in Solaris," Hanley said with a smirk, "but I probably won't stay for long, so I haven't told you yet."

Nadia giggled and said, "I thought you were going to surprise her by keeping it a secret."

Hanley didn't argue but reminded Candice to take good care of her health.

Candice arrived in the conference hall to find Abel and Yondu already there.

She immediately brought up some ideas that Hanley had mentioned and discussed them with Abel.

Someone opened the door to the conference room just as they were finishing up their discussion.

The host presented a middle-aged man with a smile, saying, "This is Quentin Howles, the primary person in charge of this Redshade Corporation tender conference. If any one of you has any questions, feel free to ask."

Quentin wore spectacles and seemed quite gentle.

He grinned and replied, "Give me a second. We have prepared all of the internal documentation for this tender conference. You can check them out shortly."

As soon as he finished, a figure appeared at the door.

Sonia appeared with a smile on her face. She was holding a stack of documents as she began distributing them per Quentin's directions.

When she got to Candice, she stopped and whispered quietly, "What a coincidence."

Candice saw it as the total opposite of coincidence. She stared at Sonia, but her expression remained calm.

Sonia smiled at her before moving away.

When Sonia went away, Angela leaned in and asked, "Do you know her?"

Candice answered, "Not very well."

Sonia hadn't gotten far.

She blinked and trembled slightly when she heard this. Her eyes were filled with chills.

Quentin was a decent man. He worked extremely hard to clarify things for everyone.

Candice asked a confusing concept-related question during the questioning session.

Quentin scowled at her and asked, "Are you from Burning Star Studio?"

Candice confirmed with a nod.

Quentin dismissed her rudely, saying, "If it's Burning Star Studio, forget it. Your studio does not match our eligibility requirements. Next, please."

His response was sharp, leaving no room for Candice to say anything.

Candice could not help but ask, "May I ask if you have a misunderstanding with my firm? For what reason are you saying we don't meet the requirements?"

Quentin looked at her and stated, "I don't think a studio that can't even ensure basic safety is capable of handling such a large project."

Candice sent an involuntary glance at Sonia.

She wore an icy sneer and stared provocatively at Candice.

"Although Burning Star Studio has recently gained popularity and produced some excellent work, Redshade Corporation reserves the right to refuse participation from a studio that does not meet the job requirements."

Quentin gave a plain statement.

Candice realized it was pointless to say anything further at this point, so she sat down quietly.

Throughout the event, Quentin addressed every studio except Burning Star Studio.

Candice attempted to explain multiple times, but Quentin's stern demeanor thwarted her efforts. He seems to have an unfavorable impression of Burning Star Studio.

She eventually learned from Abel that the initial person in charge of the Redshade Corporation project was not Quentin but his uncle. However, the big boss had to travel abroad for some reason, leaving Quentin in charge of Redshade Corporation's event.

If Quentin was unhappy with her firm, Candice might not even get the opportunity to participate.

She was aware that this was largely about Sonia, but she didn't have time to quarrel with her.

Candice reached for her phone to call Hanley.

She noticed Alex approaching her before she could make the call. When he saw Candice, he hesitated and questioned, "Why are you standing outside?"

Candice gave him a complicated look. She went on to say, "My company might not be able to take part in the tender conference."
