My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0382

Chapter 0382

Alex furrowed his brow, his gaze piercing. "What do you mean?"

Candice sneered and said in a mocking tone, "Maybe you should ask Sonia. She seems quite loyal to Aether Corporation. She even stood up for them."

As Candice was about to explain to Alex, Sonia timely interrupted her. She subtly used Aether Corporation as an excuse, making it seem as if Burning Star Studio had caused great trouble for Aether Corporation.

Recalling last night, when Alex received a message from Sonia and hastily left, Candice couldn't help but reveal a look of disdain.

After pocketing her phone, she walked past Alex and left.

Alex watched her departing figure, his brow furrowing tightly. After a moment, he lowered his gaze, his cold face showing a hint of sternness.

Candice went outside to call Hanley and inform her about the situation with Quentin.

Hanley remained silent for a while.

After a pause, he calmly spoke, "Quentin has a questionable character. You don't need to have too much contact with him. Let me handle this when I come over."

Candice hesitated. "But from the looks of it now, he seems resistant to Burning Star Studio. I'm worried about what will happen if this goes on."

Hanley comforted her. "He's not the person in charge of Redshade Corporation, so you don’t have to worry."

Despite Hanley’s reassurance, Candice couldn't shake off her concerns. She returned to the meeting room with a heavy heart.

Although Quentin's rejection was evident, Candice wasn't about to give up so easily. She had dealt with many difficult clients before, and Quentin was just one of them. Besides, Burning Star Studio's ability was widely recognized in the industry.

However, Quentin's attitude, coupled with Sonia's interpretation, left others with a somewhat skeptical view of Candice.

Taking advantage of their good relationship, Angela approached Candice and asked, "Is there any grudge between Burning Star Studio and Mr. Howles? He seems very hostile toward you." Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

Candice pinched her brow before saying anything. She then heard Angela sigh. "But I think you should pay more attention to Mr. Elysian. Hailey asked him to step out earlier. When I went out just now, the two of them were talking, and they seemed quite close."

Candice paused for a moment before she looked up and asked, "What has that got to do with me?"

Angela replied, "Stop pretending. Judging by how nervous Mr. Elysian is around you, I know your relationship is more than meets the eye."

Candice didn't respond to Angela's words. Right now, she was only concerned about changing Quentin's impression of Burning Star Studio.

However, she couldn't change the safety incident that had happened; she couldn’t turn back time.

Even after the meeting ended, Candice was still worried about this issue.

Abel and Yondu came to comfort her, and she nodded in thanks.

However, she didn't expect that, after leaving, she would see Alex and Sonia together again.

Thinking about it, she hadn't seen Alex since she encountered him at the door. It seemed that he had been with Sonia all this time.

They were on the balcony of the corridor on the first floor.

The upstairs bathroom was being cleaned, so Candice had to come downstairs. Unexpectedly, she saw Sonia leaning close to Alex.

They were so immersed in their conversation that they didn't notice her.

Candice turned around, not wanting to make herself uncomfortable.

However, what she didn't know was that as soon as she left, Alex also took a step back, creating some distance from Sonia.

His attitude turned very cold. "What did Xavier give you?"

Sonia gritted her teeth and looked up at Alex. "Why didn't you reply to my messages last night? I sent you so many; didn't you see any of them?"

Tears welled up in her eyes. She looked at Alex, her eyes full of sadness. Choking on her words, she spoke, "If you had replied to my messages last night, I wouldn't have..."

She couldn't bring herself to finish her sentence. She could only look at Alex with resentment, hoping to see a hint of regret on his face.

However, there was none.

There was no ripple of emotion in Alex's eyes. He lowered his gaze to look at her, his patience completely gone. "So, are you using this as an excuse?"

"Lex, I just wanted to see you..."

Alex looked at Sonia with his dark eyes. He looked distant, and there was no patience left in his voice.

"If you still haven't realized what you should be doing now, fine. I'll ask Sawyer to let the legal department know."

Tears instantly fell from Sonia's eyes. She looked at Alex, who turned around and left without a trace of mercy.

She clenched her fists, a storm brewing in her. How could he be so heartless?

He had loved her so much. Why was he treating her like that now?

Standing in place, she slowly closed her eyes in pain. If it weren't for Alex, she wouldn’t have let that disgusting old man Quentin humiliate her; if it weren’t for him, she wouldn’t have gotten together with Xavier!

It was all because of Alex.

It was all because of him!

Sonia hugged her knees and lifted her head, cold hatred flashing in her eyes. She took out her phone and made a call.

Her voice was laced with ice as she hissed, "You did a botched job with the car accident previously. If you don't handle it well this time, don't expect to get a single dollar! I don't care what methods you use. Just get the job done!"

After returning to the hotel, Candice hastily opened her files to resume work. The room service called, interrupting her focus on work.

Shawn had again ordered a double meal, but Candice didn't want to see Alex at all now. Every encounter with him reminded her of Sonia.

Sonia, in Candice's eyes, was like a fly—not harmful, but once she’d had an encounter, she'd rather avoid it altogether. Even the sight of her made Candice uncomfortable.

Maintaining a firm stance, Candice instructed the staff to deliver the meal directly to Alex's room, while she opted for takeout. She appreciated her grandfather's kindness but saw no need to complicate things for herself.

Before the takeout arrived, Alex appeared. Candice blocked the doorway and stared at him with cold eyes. "I've already had dinner."

Alex paused, his gaze intense. "What are you upset about again?"

His words lacked tone.

Candice spoke expressionlessly, "Alex, I'm sick of the sight of you right now. Can you stay away from me?"

She couldn't help but sneer, "It's your business if you tolerate and give in to Sonia, but I can't."

Her eyes remained calm yet resolute. "I will make her pay for this."
