Chapter 0413
Sonia gazed at Alex as she spoke with a softened tone; it was a complete contrast to her attitude in front of Candice. Her eyes were teary as she cautiously probed, "Lex, shall we talk outside? I know a nice coffee place nearby."
Sawyer furrowed his brow slightly while sizing up Sonia. Their relationship wasn't particularly good, and they weren't very close.
When Alex transferred Sonia over, Sawyer often had to clean up the mess she created. Though they were minor issues, they became annoying when they piled up, leading Sawyer to maintain a distant attitude toward Sonia.
Sonia continued to look at Alex expectantly, confident that Alex would agree once she mentioned Brisco Corporation.
Full of expectations, she was taken aback when Alex's emotionless voice rang out. "Why should I listen to you?"
She explained instinctively, "But regarding Brisco Corporation…"
Alex lifted his eyelids, his gaze as calm as a still pond. He swept his eyes over Sonia's bewildered face, showing no interest in what she was saying. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
A shiver ran down Sonia's spine as a sense of panic took over. Desperate, she looked at Alex. Realizing she was unable to read anything from his expression, she turned to Sawyer.
After looking around, she finally looked back at Alex and steadied herself by squeezing her palms.
"Apart from Brisco Corporation, I also need to talk to you about Redshade Corporation. Lex, don't you want to take over Redshade Corporation? I heard you've been planning for the proposal. I can help you," Sonia said while biting her lip.
The financial meeting on the first floor was ongoing, and there were others there besides Alex.
Sonia's voice, initially soft, gradually grew louder as she spoke. It seemed like she wasn't just informing Alex; she was also emphasizing to herself that she could indeed help him.
With half-closed eyes, Alex paid little attention to Sonia's words. Sawyer timely interrupted, "Sonia, the meeting is about to start. Mr. Elysian needs some rest. Could you please leave?"
Embarrassed, Sonia stood her ground. "Lex, I meant what I said. As long as you're willing, I'll help Aether Corporation through this crisis."
Sonia was about to step forward after she finished speaking, but Sawyer extended his hand, blocking her path. He reminded, "If you can't find your way out, I can escort you, Sonia."
Sonia stormed off.
Sawyer frowned while looking at Alex. "Looks like Sonia is going to complain to Quentin again."
Alex, with a calm expression, replied, "Is everything arranged with Dorrington?"

As the meeting was about to end, participants in the summit meeting were very proactive and eager. Many had exchanged contacts and discussed potential collaborations.
Candice received numerous business cards, mostly from those interested in associating with Burning Star Studio. Even Angela handed over their studio's card, expressing her boss's desire to meet Hanley.
Observing Angela's exhausted appearance, Candice paused her action of taking the card. "What's wrong? You look pale."
Shaking her head, Angela sighed. "My best friend's relationship is in crisis, and I’m her emotional support."
Angela's best friend was Bella, and Bella's boyfriend was Darius.
Candice felt a slight unease and was about to inquire further when Angela complained, “Men are useless! I’m so sick of them. They’re always looking for a sidepiece. I told her to break up with him!”
Candice had expected this. She was about to ask more about Darius when Angela, now on the phone, abruptly left.
Left with no choice, Candice let it be.
The day ended unusually early, with Candice leaving the meeting room at 5:30 PM. Barox was supposed to pick her up at 6:00 PM, and as she was about to call him, she spotted a figure not far away.
Frowning, she was about to turn away when the figure moved toward her. Henry's voice, serious and urgent, reached her ears. "Candice!"
He approached quickly, then he blocked her path and tried to grab her arm without explanation. "You need to come with me to the hospital now."
His face stern, he scrutinized Candice. "You haven't been pregnant for long, so it's not too late. Let's go to the hospital and get rid of the child!"
He grabbed Candice's arm forcefully, pulling her forward.
Henry, after contemplating for several days, had come up with this solution. Even if Candice was pregnant with that poor guy's child, it didn't matter.
He was Candice's father and had the right to decide for her!
As a Renault, she couldn't be with a poor guy. This would ruin his reputation!
Moreover, those friends who had dinner with him before were now mocking him, saying he had gone so crazy trying to climb the social ladder that he was even spreading rumors about his daughter and other men!
Because of this, Henry didn’t dare to go out these few days, and his phone had been powered off. He even bought a new number just to text Candice!
Henry couldn't stand this humiliation.
As he recalled everything, he tightened his grip on Candice's wrist, causing her pain.
Caught off guard, Candice stumbled as she was pulled. Regaining her balance, she forcefully pulled her hand away from Henry's grip and glared at him coldly, saying, "Henry, what are you doing? We’re out in public!"
Henry glared at Candice, his anger rising at the thought of being looked down upon by his friends.
Suppressing his voice to avoid attention from passersby, he growled, “Candy, I’m doing this for your own good! I don’t want you to regret it!”
Chest heaving, he appeared livid.
Candice was upset as well. She looked at her wrist, which was reddened from Henry’s grip.
“What can that poor loser give you?” His eyes were filled with rage, but as he thought about what that person had said, he suppressed his emotion and tried to reason with Candice.
"Candy, believe me. I've experienced more than you can imagine. Being with such a man won't bring you a good life. Listen to me. I can take you to terminate the pregnancy. You're still young, so you’ll recover in no time. After you recover, I'll introduce you to a well-respected man from Solaris. You're pretty, so I’m sure you'll have plenty of opportunities!"
Henry spoke as if it were a matter of course, but Candice found it nauseating. The so-called well- respected man was probably Geoffrey, and the opportunities he mentioned were likely similar to Hailey's.
Disgusted, she was about to speak when someone gently grabbed her shoulders and pulled her to the side.
Accompanying this was a faint scent of cedar.
