Chapter 1389
Chapter 1389
“Why are you so kind to me?” Ashlynn asked, emotions overwhelming her. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Because we have adopted you, so we.”
“Are you still going to lie to me?” Ashlynn interrupted her, panting as pain pierced through her chest. “Back when I was little, my adopted parents took a family photo with me and though I was a little older than this little girl in the photos, I can still tell that I looked exactly like her!”
Knowing that she could not deceive Ashlynn any longer, Beth closed her eyes sorrowfully and opened
them again, tears of regret filling her eyes. “I’m sorry, my Little Crescent. It’s my fault that you went missing…
Ashlynn had thought that she might have been mistaken as children could look alike at a young age, but when Beth admitted to it, tears scrolled down Ashlynn’s eyes.
“How did you find out?”
“Your brother Jeremy found the crescent birthmark on your back and did a paternity test…” Beth looked at
her.
“So, all of you knew and I was the only one in the dark?”
“Only your dad, Jeremy and I know. I haven’t told your grandfather. He would be over the moon if he finds out. Losing you wasn’t just a traumatic experience to us, but also to your grandfather for the past
years… Beth walked over to take Ashlynn’s hands. “You are a lady of the Hilton Family, Little Crescent. Come back to us and you will never have to suffer again.”
Ashlynn did not know how to react to the sudden development. Some part of her blamed her parents and she moved away from Beth’s hands once again.
“Crescent?” Beth mumbled in devastation. “Please don’t hate me. I will make it up to you. Please don’t go…”
Ashlynn studied the despair on Beth’s face, the strong, powerful woman she knew looked extremely fragile and for reasons she could not begin to explain, Ashlynn’s heart ached at the sight.
Perhaps it was the bond of the blood that connected them..
Ashlynn lowered her gaze and turned to leave.
“Crescent… Beth called out. “You are still injured. Don’t go.”
Ashlynn struggled to move her feet. “I…I’m fine. I just need to cool down.” She ran outside and came close to bumping into someone.
She looked up and saw Aunt Cher.
Aunt Cher had stayed in the hospital for the past two days. She had thought that getting a concussion from an asylum patient had been bad enough, coming home and finding Ashlynn running toward her had worsened her mood. “Ugh!”
Ashlynn ignored her and ran outside.
Aunt Cher returned to the living room and saw Beth sitting on the couch blankly. “Mrs. Hilton, what’s wrong?”
“Why didn’t you rest a few more days?” Beth asked dazedly.
“The doctor said that I’m fine now.”
Beth did not respond and seemed dazed. Noticing her reddened eyes, Aunt Cher realized that Beth had
been crying.
“Did Ashlynn do something wrong? Mrs. Hilton, I’m telling you, this Ashlynn girl is capable of.” Aunt Cher mumbled.
Beth interrupted her and said, “She is just like me.”
“What?”
Beth looked up with determination. “Ashlynn is my long lost daughter, Crescent. She is a lady and the future heiress of the Hilton Family. I will announce this to all of Athetin soon so that she can be officially welcomed into this family.”
Aunt Cher was stunned. “Mrs. Hilton, have…have you been mistaken?”
