Chapter 217 Did Nothing to Support Brown Group

The bidding session had barely ended when Dad and Mom found out that Flint Group had won the bid.

After all, Eric was my husband, and even though Brown Group didn't win the bid, it was still something to celebrate.

Unfortunately, Eric had to go on a business trip that evening, so he couldn't come home with me. After comforting my parents and easing their disappointment over a phone call, I got into Dad's car after work and headed back to the Brown residence.

As soon as I arrived, I saw Jack standing at the top of the stairs, his face filled with disdain. Elsa was timidly standing behind him.

As we sat down at the dinner table, Jack immediately took a jab at me. "I heard that Flint Group's victory was partly thanks to your help."

I raised an eyebrow at him. "Where did you hear that from?"

Jack snorted. "You don't need to know where I heard it from, but don't you think you should consider whose side you're really on? Even though you're married to Eric now, aren't you still a member of the Brown family? Why are you turning your back on us?"

I pretended to be surprised. "Why am I suddenly a Brown family member again? Didn't you say before that once a daughter is married, she's no longer part of her family? Do you only consider me part of the family when I'm useful but want to kick me out when I'm not?"

Jack's face flashed with a hint of embarrassment, but he still pressed on,

criticizing me, "No matter what, you should always put the Brown family's interests first."

He then turned to look at Dad and Mom. "Mom, Dad, tell her. Jane clearly knew how to secure the bid but helped Eric steal it from us. Isn't she betraying the family?"noveldrama

Dad's face flashed with anger. He said in a low voice, "This is a family discussion, not a business negotiation! Your sister is already married to Eric. So what if she helps him win a project? You're over here criticizing your sister. How about you use your ability to win some projects for Brown Group?"

Jack didn't expect Dad to defend me, and his face stiffened. He glared at me but didn't speak.

I shifted my gaze between him and Elsa. After a while, I asked coldly, "It was Elsa who said it, wasn't it?"

Hearing that, Elsa immediately shivered and quickly looked to Jack for help.

Jack immediately stepped in front of Elsa, his expression stern. "Why do you keep making things difficult for her? I'm the one who pressed her for answers."

He then let out a scoff. "I never imagined you'd be so calculating, to go this far just for Eric."

I shot a cold look back at him, my smile devoid of any warmth. "What exactly have I done? Why don't you explain?"

Jack crossed his arms. It seemed he had been waiting for me to say this. The next moment, he began analyzing the situation in a self-assured manner.

"This time, only three companies had the best chances of winning the bid-Flint Group, Cornell Group, and Brown Group. You did nothing to support the Brown Group, used Elsa to mislead Cornell Group, and in the end, helped Flint Group complete the bid proposal. Don't deny it. I can see through all of your plans."

After hearing his words, I let out a scoff. "I did nothing to support Brown Group? You didn't even bother to consult me about the bid. How could you say I did nothing?"

Jack was defensive even though he was the one who hadn't wanted me to know about the bidding.

Now, he was turning it around, accusing me of doing nothing to support Brown Group.

After saying this, I turned my attention to Elsa and curiously asked, "Elsa said I used her to mislead Cornell Group. Didn't you ever ask her how I misled her?"
