Chapter 218 False Accusations

Upon hearing that, Elsa's face quickly showed a hint of panic. She instinctively tried to stop me from saying what I was about to say.

"Jane, don't accuse me falsely," Elsa pleaded.

I sneered, "Falsely accuse you? I haven't said anything yet. How could it be an accusation?"

At first, I had planned on not making things too clear at the dinner table, but I never expected her to strike first. Since she was so eager to defend herself, I no longer felt the need to hold back.

I turned to Jack and said with a smile, "Back then, I only casually mentioned to Elsa that the government might rezone that area for real estate development. If she was truly loyal to the Brown family, you all would've known about it and would've come to me to confirm it.

"But the fact is, you knew nothing. And Jeremiah ended up with the real estate bid proposal."

I raised my gaze and locked eyes with Elsa, whose expression now looked defeated. I continued, "So, who do you think she passed this information on to?"

As soon as I finished, Elsa's face turned pale with panic. She frantically waved her hands, looking helpless. "I didn't..."

She turned to Jack and said, "I swear, I didn't... Please believe me, Jack. The government was keeping the information under wraps. I thought Jane was just joking, so I didn't tell you guys. As for Jeremiah, I might have slipped up, but whether he believed me or not was up to him. I didn't mean it. I just mentioned it as a joke!"

She desperately clung to Jack's sleeve, pleading with him.

Mom and Dad remained silent. At this moment, they thought it was all just a farce.

Jack's expression changed slightly, as though he was making an important decision. The next second, he lifted his head with determination. He was about to speak, but I interrupted him.

I sneered at him, my eyes filled with mockery. "Jack, brains are valuable, but yours might only be worth a fraction of other people's."

Jack furrowed his brows. He understood the meaning behind my words. I was saying that his intellect was far below average.

I didn't give him a chance to argue back. I said coldly, "Elsa can manipulate you with just a few words. Are you even human? She's used you as her pawn countless times, and you still haven't learned a thing."

I sighed deeply, a trace of disappointment in my voice. "If it weren't for her stirring things up today, would you be saying all this to me?"

I glanced at Elsa, who was still lowering her head and pretending to be innocent. I scoffed. "Look, here we go again. You're out here fighting her battles while she hides behind you. She's quiet now, waiting for you to finish arguing with me, then she'll just feed you a few sweet words and you'll be fine again. You're just like a dog, so easy to calm down."

My words hit Jack with fury, but at the same time, something seemed to click in his mind. For once, he didn't snap back at me. Instead, he turned to Elsa, looking confused.

Elsa instantly looked panicked. She reached out and grabbed Jack's hand, shaking her head desperately. "Jack, I would never..."noveldrama

Before she could finish, Jack had already fallen for her act again.

Turning back to me, he stared at me with determination. "Elsa isn't like that! You're the one making false accusations. It's pathetic. She's just not good at arguing. Not everyone is like you."

I rolled my eyes.

It was pointless talking to someone this dense. Even speaking one more word felt like wasting my life.

Just then, Dad and Mom intervened, their voices breaking the tension. "Enough! Can't we just eat in peace?"
