Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 765

Chapter 765:

Thinking back to Allison’s reaction earlier, he could tell that she still had feelings for this guy.

Verruckt was curious. How had this man captured her attention? Jareth nodded quickly. “Got it. I’ll handle it right away.”

Just as he turned to leave, Verruckt spoke up again, “Are those two idiots still sitting in the reception room?”

“Yes. Just like you asked, I’ve made things difficult for them,” Jareth said with a grin. “They’re currently dealing with bad vomiting and diarrhea. They’ve already chugged eight glasses of water, and they still have a long way to go.” In truth, it was nothing more than a prank.

Verruckt barely lifted his eyes. “Just make sure they don’t die in Fleeingland. Otherwise, those old men from the Immortality Group will start interfering with the lab again.”

The Immortality Group was all about profit, especially when it came to international clients. They preferred cooperation to confrontation, always focusing on the bigger picture.

But Verruckt didn’t care one bit about profits.

He leaned back in his chair, crossing his legs as he looked toward the door, his expression unreadable.

“In a few days, once they’re on the plane back to Vrining, who knows what might happen to them,” he said with a detached tone, his words carrying an ominous weight.

Only he had the power to boss Alice around. Anyone else who tried would face serious consequences.

In the waiting room, Colton felt extremely weak. For reasons they couldn’t explain, both he and Melany had suddenly started feeling nauseous and were dealing with diarrhea. The hospital was far away, so they had to rely on the lab staff to check on them.

A group of so-called professionals arrived, each one confidently assuring them that they could help. But every attempt to ease their discomfort failed, and soon another expert was brought in.

Melany forced a smile and asked, “Don’t you have anything for diarrhea?”

“Sorry, ma’am,” the researcher replied. “We don’t have any antidiarrheal medicine, only laxatives.”

Melany didn’t know what to say. As she was about to speak again, she hurried back to the restroom, frustration bubbling up inside her, though she held it in. She was worried that showing her anger would scare off the researchers. If Lindy’s condition worsened, she feared they would all blame her.

Three hours later, the vomiting and diarrhea finally stopped for both Melany and Colton, though they were utterly drained. As the sun began to set, Colton finally saw Jareth again. In a weak voice, he asked, “Does Mr. Shaw have time to talk about our project now?”
