Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 766

Chapter 766:

Jareth shook his head and replied coldly, “Sorry, Mr. Shaw has something urgent to take care of today. I don’t think he’ll be able to meet with you two.”

Colton’s face grew even paler, his expression darkening. If it hadn’t been for the first staff member who mentioned there was medicine, Colton would have thought this place was a total scam. After Jareth left, he didn’t notice Allison standing just around the corner.

As Colton and Melany were about to leave, Allison showed up again, adjusting her glasses.

“Sorry, Mr. Shaw is just like that,” she said.

To Colton, Allison was the only person in the lab who seemed easy to talk to.noveldrama

“Your boss is really unpredictable,” he said, still looking unhappy. “When will he be free next?”

Allison let out a deep sigh. “It looks like Mr. Shaw will be going on a business trip soon. The lab and the pharmaceutical company are holding a joint meeting, so there will be a lot of visitors, and we’ll all be very busy.”

She shrugged and made a lighthearted remark. “We might as well open the boss’s office to everyone; there won’t be any time for you to meet him soon.”

Colton asked casually, “Why is the lab open to visitors?”

Allison answered smoothly, “We have a lot of specimens here, which help showcase our expertise.”

Allison then subtly steered the conversation, adding, “The boss’s office does have the medicine, and it’s not a big deal. If I had the power, I’d have given it to you by now. But I can’t make those decisions, so I’m really sorry.”

From the start, Allison had made it sound like the medicine for the head pain was easy to get and not very important. She even mentioned that the lab would be busy the next day and that Verruckt would be on a business trip — this was all meant to plant a certain idea in these two people’s minds. Sure enough, Melany’s eyes narrowed with a hint of calculation as she asked casually, “So, how can we attend this meeting?”

“I’m not sure about that,” Allison said, glancing at Melany. “You might need an invitation from the lab or some connection with the company’s leaders.”

It was obvious from Melany’s expression that she had something in mind.

Melany smiled sweetly and said, “Then we’ll just find a pharmaceutical company we know, maybe buy some shares, and visit the lab tomorrow. It’s not much money, after all.”

“Of course,” Allison said with a knowing smile. “But you’ll need to come before two in the afternoon. Otherwise, you might miss Mr. Shaw, and there won’t be anyone to greet you in the lab.”

Melany didn’t realize that she was walking right into a trap. She raised her chin confidently. “Of course, our time is valuable too.”
