Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 769

Chapter 769:noveldrama

“So that’s your question?” Allison smiled softly, then confessed openly, “It was the day you proposed a divorce. The man I spent that night with on the cruise was him.”

At her words, Colton’s mind flashed back to the strange marks on her neck the day they divorced at the courthouse. So it had all been true!

He spoke in disbelief. “Allison, how could you be so…”

Before he could finish his sentence, the call was abruptly ended. Only silence remained.

Colton stood frozen, holding the phone in his hand, rigid as a statue. The call had left him with an overwhelming flood of information. His mind raced, overwhelmed by a whirlwind of thoughts, each one more confusing than the last.

Without thinking, Colton’s eyes drifted toward the bathroom, where music played alongside the sound of the shower running. It was clear that Melany had washed off her makeup and was taking a bath.

In the past, Colton would have never questioned her, even believing that Allison was just trying to cause trouble between them. Now, he remembered how, during the Perfumery Competition, Melany had pretended to be Allison, taking on the identity of Scarlet Snake and telling one lie after another.

Was she really as innocent as he had believed? Once doubt crept in, it only seemed to grow stronger.

In the end, Colton opened Melany’s laptop bag and found the USB drive tucked inside. She usually kept it locked away from him. But now, with a blank look on his face, Colton opened the laptop and plugged in the USB drive. The files on it were a tangled mess.

He scrolled all the way to the bottom, his eyes landing on the oldest folder.

Click!

Colton moved the mouse over the file. He paused for a brief moment, then clicked to open the folder. Immediately, a flood of old photos appeared on the screen.

Colton was left speechless. “How is this possible…”

Most of the photos were of him, taken in secret at different times! There were pictures of everything — his school, his home, even his old desk from years ago. It was clear now: Melany had lied about meeting him for the first time five years ago. A chill ran down Colton’s spine.

Why had she been spying on him and gathering information for so long?

Almost without thinking, Colton scrolled down and came across a set of photos that stood out. It was a picture of an alley from five years ago.

His fingers shook as he clicked on the set of photos. The first photo showed a girl carrying him, but they were too far away to make out their faces.

He moved to the next photo. This time, the focus was sharper, and the girl’s profile was clearly visible. Colton’s dark eyes stayed glued to the screen. The familiar shape of her brows, nose, and jawline could only belong to Allison from back then!
