Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 774

Chapter 774:

“Stay still.” Verruckt’s voice was cold, and he leaned slightly toward her.

It only took a moment to buckle her in, but the air between them felt unusually still and tense.

Allison couldn’t see Verruckt’s face, but his presence felt like a storm — heavy and unnerving. She fought the impulse to snap at him and shoved his hand away. “Thanks, Mr. Shaw.” Click! The seatbelt finally clicked into place.

“No need to thank me. I figured you were too clueless to fasten it yourself,” Verruckt said, his tone flat.

Allison bit back the urge to strike him, responding, “I can do it.” Her hands weren’t broken, after all. Of course she could manage a seatbelt.

“Look in the drawer in front of you. There’s a jewelry box inside,” Verruckt said, his voice rough as the car began to move. “Your job today is to take it to Mr. Charles Blake’s wife. Her name’s Mollie Blake.”

“Okay.” Following his directions, Allison pulled open the drawer and discovered a slightly scuffed blue velvet box. Inside, there was a ring, its gemstone shining brightly — an emerald, worth more than a diamond.noveldrama

“Do I just hand it over to Mrs. Blake?” Allison asked as the car slowed to a stop at the red light.

“Definitely not,” Verruckt answered, pulling out the ring. Without hesitation, he slid it onto Allison’s middle finger, his hand easily wrapping around her slender wrist. “Once Mrs. Blake sees the ring, she’ll approach you. Then you can tell her about the illegal experiments. She’ll understand everything.”

It seemed like a straightforward instruction, but Allison’s face stiffened. She couldn’t tell if this was some kind of test.

“Mr. Shaw, I don’t get what you mean.”

Verruckt let out a quiet chuckle, his face hidden in the shadows, making it hard to tell what he was thinking.

“Alice, it’s fine if you don’t understand. Just follow my orders,” he said, his voice rough but dripping with casual confidence. “If you don’t, you won’t make it through the night.”

It sounded like a threat, but that was just the way Verruckt was. Allison wasn’t shocked. She just blinked and replied, “Alright.” The light changed to green, and the car moved forward.

Allison glanced at the ring on her finger, deep in thought. The emerald was massive and worth a fortune, especially with its fine, intricate carving. Even nobles would count themselves lucky to own such a piece.

As she thought it over, Allison suddenly noticed a small gap between the ring setting and the emerald. At that moment, Verruckt spoke again.

“There’s going to be a commotion tonight. When it happens, leave with Jareth.”

“Commotion?” Allison guessed it had something to do with Immortality Group, but she pretended to be nervous and asked, “Will it be dangerous?”
