Chapter 1078 The Insincere Apologies
Chapter 1078 The Insincere Apologies
"Brandon, Dallin, the media outlets, and the Internet troll are going to pay for what they did. What are your thoughts on the McDaniel family?" Julien looked at Sydney and asked the question again.
Sydney rubbed her temples and replied, "I don't know."
Julien stared at her steadily and asked again, "You don't know, or are you thinking about me?"
Sydney's fingers pressed to her temples paused slightly.
It was quite subtle, but Julien noticed it.
Julien realized at once that he'd guessed right.
It wasn't that Sydney didn't know how to get back at Erin.
It was easy to think of many ways to get back at someone.
But Sydney said she didn't know because she was thinking about him.
Julien sighed, "No need to consider me. Just do what you want with it."
"I know." Sydney gave Julien a smile. "I know you don't want me to be hurt by others, but I don't want you to be criticized either. Though you don't care about that, I can't stand it. There's no rush to this thing. Everyone knows now that the rumor is not true and that Erin is behind it. Her reputation is ruined. We're in no hurry to get back at her. Take it slow and let me think about it, OK? I won't go easy on her," she said with a serious look as she rested her hand on his arm.
Since Sydney had said so, Julien could only let her.
Sydney was right. They'd clarified the rumors and people weren't blaming her anymore. The netizens had turned their attacks on Erin.
Sydney was now safe. She could take her time to figure out how to get back at Erin.
Therefore, Julien didn't mind if she took some time to think about it.
Luke had a bitter smile as he watched the two consider each other.
'They think so much about each other. They must love each other very much. How could anyone possibly get between them? Cayden is lucky to be in Jackal City at the moment and that he's now under the control of his second personality. Otherwise, if he sees Syd loving Julien so much, he would be very sad.'
"Ms. Raines." Suddenly, Sean appeared at the door and knocked with one hand when she called out to Sydney.
Sean's eyes crossed over Luke and landed directly on Sydney's face, pretending that she only saw Sydney.
Only then could she 'ignore' the man.
Only by ignoring the man would she not feel lost.
However, Sean didn't notice that the moment her voice rang out, Luke, who had been lounging on the sofa, immediately shivered and then he slowly sat up straight.
Actually, he wanted to turn and look at her.
But somehow, he gave up on that idea. His hands gripped the arms of the sofa tightly and his head was lowered. No one could see the expression on his face.
The moment Sean appeared, Sydney immediately glanced at Luke to see his reaction.
Certainly, she saw every move Luke made.
Seeing Luke's hand tightly grip the arms of the sofa, Sydney understood that Luke wanted to turn and look at Sean. But somehow, he gave up.
Julien also saw Luke's reaction when Sean appeared.
Julien didn't usually pay attention to Luke, but he glanced at Luke after he was annoyed by Luke. Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
And he noticed that Luke was acting strangely.
Julien's perception of Luke's reaction was different from Sydney's.
Sydney thought Luke's strange reaction was because he didn't like Sean, while Julien didn't.
Julien glanced up at Sean and then at Luke. He narrowed his eyes and an ambiguous look flashed across them.
The look flickered quickly, so Sydney didn't notice it.
Seeing Luke keep his head down, Sydney wondered what he was thinking. She sighed slightly and then turned her eyes to the door. She put on a smile and asked, "What's up?"
Sean glanced out of the corner of her eye at the sofa where Luke was sitting.
She couldn't see Luke's body just at the back of his head.
Luke didn't turn around. Sean felt relieved yet a little lost.
But she quickly organized herself, took a deep breath, shook her head, stopped looking at the sofa, and put on a serious face. She turned to Sydney and answered,
"Ms. Raines, several media outlets just called. They want to apologize to you and hope you forgive them. And they sent a lot of gifts."
"They want to apologize to me?" Sydney raised her eyebrows. "Are they the ones that retweeted the rumor?"
"Yes." Sean nodded.
Sydney smiled then, "Looks like Zach was right. He just said there's a disturbance going on within those media outlets. Looks like it's true."
"Julien is going to help their competition. How can they stay rest?" said Luke, rolling his eyes and being dismissive.
Sydney looked at Julien and said, "I have a guess."
Julien responded, "I know what you're thinking."
Sydney smiled at Julien and then turned to Luke, "Luke, ask your assistant if he has received any calls from the media apologizing."
"OK, I'll ask." Luke lowered his crossed leg, took his cell phone out of his pocket, and dialed a number.
Hearing Luke's voice, Sean immediately lowered her head.
Sydney felt sad at this scene.
Two minutes later, Luke hung up and shrugged, "Nope."
"Looks like we guessed right." Sydney was not surprised by Luke's answer. A mocking expression was on her face. "Luke and I were both involved in the rumor, but they only gave me an apology. They didn't apologize to Luke. They weren't sincere in their apology. To put it bluntly, their intention in calling me was not to apologize."
She looked straight at Julien, "You were their target. They wanted to use me to reach you."
Luke's realization dawned on him. He slammed his thigh. "I get it. You're saying these media outlets called you to apologize in order to get Julien to leave them alone, right?"
Sydney nodded, "Yes, that's what I think."
Luke's chest heaved violently in anger, "Damn! They're shameless. Did they think they could get away with it?"
"They wanted to try anyway." Sydney had a mocking smile on her lips.
Luke clenched his fists and said, "Syd, don't go soft on them. Don't believe their apologies."
Sydney rolled her eyes at Luke. "I have principles. Do you think I'm soft? I don't think they're sincere at all. Why should I help them?"
