The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 234

Chapter 234

Cordelia toyed with a piece of pickled plum, her gaze settling on Ronan.

"Don’t you want your cases?" he asked again.

Cordelia moved over to sit beside Ronan.

"Is that all?"

"What else do you want, Mr. Evans? Lumos Enterprises is a giant in its field; this bit of business is but a Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

drop in the ocean for you. Moreover, auditing isn't Lumos Enterprises' main gig, but it's our bread and

butter. Mr. Evans, cut us some slack, please. I'm pregnant, and yet I still have to sing for my supper. It's

not easy for us, is it? The holidays are around the corner, and without money, my baby and I will be left

out in the cold." Cordelia cajoled Ronan with a mix of sincerity and flattery.

"You guys? Who?" Ronan picked up on her choice of words.

Who could it be? It was just her and Jamie.

"Oh, just me and the baby." Cordelia knew he didn't like Jamie, so she didn't mention him.

Ronan's gaze dropped to Cordelia's belly, which seemed larger than most expecting mothers, plump

and round. His hand reached out to stroke her belly.

Cordelia tried to pull away. "Well, it's not the first time for you." He watched her intently.

"We're divorced, Ronan. Strangers."

"If we're strangers, then why did you come to me?" Ronan retorted.

Cordelia was left speechless.

"Why is your belly so big?" Ronan switched the topic when he noticed how Cordelia was at a loss for

words. He even entertained the idea that maybe she was further along than she claimed.

However, Cordelia just chuckled. "Mr. Evans, I'm just lucky. I'm having twins."

"Twins?" Ronan frowned.

"That's right. Others have to go through it twice, but I only have to do it once. I'm done for life," Cordelia

replied.

Ronan snorted. She was lucky alright, that man sure had some skills.

"Stay with me tonight." Ronan leaned in closer, his hand sliding up her thigh.

Cordelia flinched slightly. "Mr. Evans, you have some interesting tastes."

"I just like pregnant women!" he whispered huskily into Cordelia's ear. As he leaned in closer to

Cordelia again, the soft scent of her perfume filled his senses, as if he was standing in a garden of

flowers.

"My hands are sticky. Could you hand me a wet wipe, Mr. Evans?" Cordelia asked, her gaze landing on

a packet of wet wipes nearby. She had been holding a pickled plum earlier, and her hands were sticky

from it.

"Sticky? From what?" He looked at Cordelia with a playful glint in his eyes.

"Pickled plum," Cordelia whispered into Ronan's ear. "We don't have that kind of relationship anymore.

Not after you pushed my mom down the stairs. It's not possible."

Ronan handed her a wet wipe without a word.

Cordelia carefully wiped each finger. At a glance, she noticed that Ronan had beautiful hands. They

were slender, with healthy, pale nails. His eyes were also captivating, unlike anyone else’s, with their

dark pupils. They were incredibly expressive.

For a fleeting moment, Cordelia wondered if her future children would inherit his good looks. She hadn't

taken a good look at Ronan before, but now, with hopes and speculations about her babies’

appearance, and knowing he was the father, Cordelia wanted to see if she could find any clues in his

features.

He had thick earlobes. Cordelia thought to herself how wonderful it would be if her children also had

thick earlobes.

"Will you stay with me tonight? If you do, all the contracts are yours. If this is how you want to close

deals, who am I to stop you?" He pulled Cordelia closer, shifting her body towards him, but due to

Cordelia's swollen belly, her upper body was left hanging in the air, her chest appearing smaller in

comparison to her belly.

"Sure, I'll stay. But not tonight, Mr. Evans. Pregnancy has left me perpetually tired. I've been out so long

today, I'm exhausted. How about tomorrow? I'll pick a nice place," Cordelia suggested amicably. After

all, Ronan was her golden goose. Just a flick of his wrist, and she would be rolling in dough.

"Pick a place?" Ronan's intention was clear. His place was the most suitable.

"But it's more exciting to do it outdoors, don't you think?" Cordelia retorted.

"Fine, contact me when you've picked a place. Once you've slept with me, you'll never have to worry

about money ever again." With that, Ronan got up and left.

He knew Cordelia wouldn't let him drive her home tonight. She didn't want him to know where she

lived. But could she ever really escape him?
