Chapter 235
Chapter 235
Cordelia watched as Ronan swaggered off, muttering jerk under her breath. He'd always been a crafty
one, taking what he wanted without a second thought.
Cordelia was exhausted. She sat in the karaoke bar for a while, listening to soothing music, before
hailing a cab home.
As she sat in the taxi, Cordelia couldn't help but replay the memory of her mother's fatal fall from a
building. The sight of Ronan always stirred up a fury within her.
Cordelia booked a luxury suite in a five-star hotel she found online, but she vowed to never get
involved with Ronan again. If Ronan wanted to sleep with her, she might as well have played him for a
fool. As for the business deal, she figured it was entirely up to Ronan. If he wanted to give it to her, she
would get it; if not, even sleeping with him wouldn’t help.
She sent a message to Ronan. [Tomorrow at 6 PM, Hilton Hotel, Room 4059.]
His response was simple. [Okay.]
On Cordelia's phone, Ronan was still saved under the name "June." Whenever she saw "June," her
mind would wander back to their sweet past moments. But she knew she shouldn't get lost in the past.
So, she changed Ronan's contact name to “Mr. Evans, Lumos Enterprises," a strictly professional title
that implied a work relationship.
Ronan, on the other hand, felt a pang of sadness. She used to have sex with him because he liked it,
and now she was doing it for the deal. How ironic!
Cordelia sent another message to Deanna. [Tomorrow at 6 PM, Hilton Hotel, Room 4059. Ronan is
waiting for you. Don't blame me if you miss out.]
She suspected that this trick would probably cost her the deal with Ronan. She had prepared herself
for the worst, but at least she still had the twenty million he had given her.
But the thought of her twins' future education, buying a house made Cordelia feel anxious.
Deanna was surprised when she received Cordelia's message, thinking, “Could it be a trap laid by
Cordelia?” She and Cordelia were never friends.
She even sent a message to Ronan. [Ronan, what are you doing tomorrow at 6 PM?]
Ronan, fresh out of the shower, drying his hair, immediately knew what Deanna was asking about. He
also knew that Cordelia had told Deanna about the arrangement. He replied. [At the office!]
Cordelia, that was a clever move!
Ronan was certain that she wouldn't show up the next day. During their time at the karaoke bar, Ronan
had noticed the coldness in Cordelia's eyes. Despite her constant laughter and flirtatious smiles, her
gaze was hostile and icy. It was the look of someone who wanted nothing more than to tear Ronan limb
from limb!
So, the next day, Ronan didn't go. Instead, he called Cordelia and asked her to come to his office the
day after tomorrow to collect the project materials. All the companies had already delivered their
materials to Lumos Enterprises.
"Really?" Cordelia was in disbelief, as she was packing up her office.
"Yes," Ronan confirmed.
Could it be that Ronan, pleased with Deanna, decided to let bygones be bygones and give Cordelia the NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
deal?
However, getting business was the most important thing. Cordelia needed to be busy again, especially
with the babies on the way and the need for baby formula money.
After hanging up on Ronan, Cordelia got ready to leave the office. Jamie was out on a business trip
and wasn't around. Cordelia, being pregnant, rarely took the stairs, even for just two floors. She always
used the elevator. But this time, she had to take the stairs.
The stairwell was dark and ominous. Cordelia held onto the handrail with caution, coughing
occasionally to activate the sensor light. She was afraid of accidents. Being pregnant with twins at her
stage meant that any accident could be dangerous for both her and the babies.
But as Cordelia was descending the first flight of stairs, someone suddenly pushed her from behind.
Cordelia let out a scream as she tumbled down the stairs. She was terrified, her head spinning from the
fall, but she tried her best to protect her belly.
She feared for her babies.
As she lay there, she couldn't help but wonder who pushed her?
