Blood trickled from Lester's blade and fell to the ground. The stench of blood filled the air with an ominous vibe, spreading quietly.

Shaken, Dominic could feel death closing in. Fear consumed him, and his voice started to quiver. "You'd better think it through. My dad is a Brigadier, and my grandpa-"

But before Dominic could finish, Lester interrupted him. "Is your grandpa really that big of a deal compared to Mr. Wood? By his order, I'm here to kill Matthew. Anyone who stands in my way will be eradicated."

Dominic was left speechless. Horace's authority was terrifying. One word from him could send thousands of troops into battle. Horace was totally out of Dominic's league.

Lester dropping Horace's name felt like a mountain bearing down on Dominic. His status felt fragile as glass, ready to shatter at any moment.

Realizing their situation, Leo and Lucien each grabbed one of Dominic's arms and backed away.

Lester smirked with a hint of contempt. "In the face of death, this is all you amount to."

Dominic was being pulled back to his car. When he saw that Matthew hadn't returned from the front, he suddenly remembered his mission.

"Matthew Grant! What do you think you are doing? I'm defeated, and you're not making a run for it. Do you have a death wish?"

However, Matthew stayed put and just outright ignored Dominic. Standing in the middle of the road, Matthew watched Lester approaching with his blade. A mix of emotions flickered in his eyes.

"Honestly, you and I are the same. We're from rural areas with no money, no status, and no connections."

What Lester said resonated with Matthew. After dealing with all the unfair treatment at the company, Matthew decided to start his business in a fit of anger.

He never expected the road to entrepreneurship to be even tougher. Looking back now, he couldn't but sigh.

Lester shook his head slightly. "You really think we're alike? What's this? Trying to get on my good side?"

Matthew was taken aback. Trying to get chummy? Matthew was confused by Lester's assumption. "I'm just saying how I feel."

Lester flicked the blood off his blade, sending droplets of blood flying. The triple- edged tip gleamed in the light.

Lester slowly closed in on Matthew as he coldly remarked, "Don't bother sucking up to me. You're not making it out alive tonight. I'm not letting you off Even though we are both from rural areas, you're just someone by death's door.

"Meanwhile, I've spent ten years training hard Although I haven't made a name for myself, I've become incredibly strong. All I need is oneopportunity and one stepping stone, then I'll shoot to the skies."

As Lester finished speaking, he held his blade firmly and shouted, "You're my ticket to greatness! Killing you will be my path to success. When you're just about to die, do you think you're on my level?"

Matthew didn't expect that a simple expression of empathy would be mistaken for trying to suck up. And now, he wasn't being told he wasn't even worthy of comparison.

Without warning, Matthew sprang into action. He balled his hands into fists and headed straight for Lester, who held his blade in reverse.

Watching Matthew charge in unarmed, Dominic forgot about his injuries in his panic and yelled, "You're no match for him, Matthew! Do you have a death wish? Are you crazy?"

Upon seeing this, Leo and Lucien frantically shouted, "He's the real deal, Matthew. Even Dominic didn't stand a chance. Don't get yourself killed."

The muscles on Matthew's legs tensed up all of a sudden, unleashing a terrifying force from beneath his feet.

After a bang, the ground beneath his feet cracked into a spiderweb pattern as he launched himself toward Lester, like an arrow shot from a bow.

Lester sneered. "Are you so impatient to meet your maker? I'll help you with that." The moment Lester ended his sentence, he drew his blade in a flash.
