Chapter 516
Beer bottles, chairs, and daggers were scattered on the ground. Matthew picked
up a bottle and continued making his way toward Craig.
Craig shouted in fear, "Sebastian isn't here with me. I had sent him to a psychiatric hospital about half an hour ago."
Matthew stopped three feet in front of Craig. "Sebastian is completely sane. Why would you send him to a psychiatric hospital? Your lie is too absurd. Be honest with me. Where's Sebastian?"
Craig said with a trembling voice, "I'm telling the truth. He didn't cooperate with the development project and shouted hysterically. Seeing how he lost his mind, I suspected he had a mental disorder, so I sent him to a psychiatric hospital."
What a ridiculous suspicion. Matthew had never come across such an absurd
excuse.
"It's up to the professionals to diagnose whether he's mentally ill. It's not something you can decide just because of your suspicion. The psychiatric hospital won't take him in.
"If you don't start telling the truth, I'm going to take matters into my own hands." As Matthew continued speaking, he slowly raised the bottle in his hand.
With his back against the wall and his legs shaking, Craig covered his head and explained, "I swear it's true! I'm not lying to you. I really sent him to a psychiatric hospital. In the past, I had even sent someone from the town to one, and he was actually perfectly fine too.
"I'm acquainted with the director of Clearwater Psychiatric Hospital. For some extra cash, he's willing to take anyone in. I'm telling the truth. You should hurry to Clearwater Psychiatric Hospital to find Sebastian."
With a crack, the bottle came down hard on Craig's head. Pieces of glass, beer foam, and crimson blood ran down his head.
Because of the impact, Craig was seeing stars and wobbled a bit. It took a few seconds before his vision cleared.
Just then, Craig saw Matthew walking over with two more bottles. Terrified, he hurriedly explained, "You've got to believe me! Sebastian is really at Clearwater Psychiatric Hospital. You have to trust-"
After a clang, Matthew swung another bottle on Craig's head, shattering it. With a thud, Craig dropped to the ground. His vision went dark, and he lost all his strength. However, the excruciating pain snapped him awake in the next instant.
Watching Matthew raise another bottle once more, Craig pleaded in fear, "Stop hitting me! I swear I'm not lying. You've got to trust me."
Matthew coldly grunted. "I do believe you."
Upon learning that a healthy person like Sebastian had been sent to a psychiatric hospital by the lawless Craig, Matthew struck Crag even harder. As he finished speaking, he smashed the bottle down with force.
With a loud bang filling the air, Craig felt like a boulder had fallen from the sky and hit him. He just went down to the ground.
His head was on the ground as he attempted to push himself up, but it felt like his head wasn't cooperating at all. It just didn't budge.
At least his eyes still worked, but everything was a bit fuzzy. After rubbing his eyes, he opened them, only to see Matthew walking over with an unopened bottle of O champagne.
Craig freaked out. If that hit him, he'd be done for. He cried out, "Please stop! It'd really kill me. I'm begging you. Spare me please."
Sporting a blank expression, Matthew's eerie words sounded like they came straight from hell. "I want you dead."
Right after Matthew spoke, another bottle broke, sending glass pieces and the champagne everywhere.
Blood rushed out of Craig's head. His muscles twitched as he kicked his legs frantically on the ground. After a brief moment, he finally went completely still.
The yard reeked of blood. Around ten burly men were so terrified that they collapsed to the ground, literally shitting their pants.
Matthew pulled out his phone and dialed Leo's number. "I'm at the mayor's place, Leo. Come over and clean this place up."
At the entrance of Campbell Town, Leo and Lucien chilled inside a car. Leo placed a bet against Lucien.
"Ever since we met Matthew, he's been making us clean every time. I doubt that'll happen today. He's here to see a friend, so he probably won't go around killing anyone. I'm willing to bet you on it. If I lose, you can set the terms."
Lucien shook his head. "I'm not betting. I think he won't kill anyone today either."
Leo chuckled and continued, "What if he does end up killing someone? If you make a bet, you could win. You can set any conditions you want."
Lucien twitched his mouth. The wager was pretty tempting as he could pick any terms he wanted.
If there was even the slightest possibility, Lucien would take the bet. But there wasn't even a slim chance to win. Matthew had come to this place for a friend, so he had no reason to kill any people.
"Matthew isn't a psychopath, and he is perfectly normal. There's no way he'd kill anyone today. Even if you put everything you have on the line, I'm not betting."
Leo teased Lucien, "Fine. I'll bet my entire life's savings. Are you not even considering it?"
Seeing Leo being all ridiculous, Lucien snapped, "Go away. I'm not taking the bet."noveldrama
Right then, a phone suddenly rang. Upon noticing Matthew was the caller, Leo immediately tapped on the speaker button.
Matthew's voice came from the line. "I'm at the mayor's place, Leo. Come over and clean this place up."
