Chapter 515
Matthew hurried to the main entrance of Craig Shaw's, the mayor of Campbell Town, villa and walked right in without hesitation. The place was lively that day.
Ten of the houses, including Sebastian's, had been demolished. Campbell Town was close to Lambda City, so the land prices were through the roof.
Craig received a commission of 600 thousand dollars for every house demolished, and tearing down ten houses meant 6 million dollars.
It was a big celebration, and ten or so burly men were drinking together with Craig in the yard.
Suddenly, Craig saw a stranger entering his yard, so he shouted, "Who are you looking for?"
Matthew looked around and couldn't find Sebastian. "I'm looking for the mayor."
Seeing Matthew come empty-handed, Craig coldly responded, "I'm the mayor. What do you want?"
Matthew took a deep breath and contained his anger. "Where's Sebastian?"
Craig immediately got on guard. "What's your relationship with him?"
Matthew fixed his gaze on Craig and replied, "I'm Sebastian's friend. Where's he? Where are you holding him?"
Matthew was part of the medical sects' community, and Sebastian was the successor of Thermodra Sect. This was too complicated to understand, so he didn't feel like explaining anything.
Just a friend? Craig scoffed. "What age are we in now? Are you really going to stick up for Sebastian? You'd better think twice. Standing up for a friend could get you badly hurt."
Was that a threat? Matthew's gaze turned sharp. His voice was cold as if it came from the abyss of hell.
"You can't intimidate me. How can you tear down Sebastian's house without his consent? And what right do you have to kidnap him? Give him back."
On what grounds? Craig suddenly burst into laughter and shouted at the group of burly men drinking. "Show him what gives me the right to do so, fellas."
In a flash, the dozen or so men stood up at once. Some grabbed the bottles from the table, some picked up chairs, and some even pulled out daggers. All of them sported menacing expressions as they moved toward Matthew.
Craig faced Matthew and coldly said, "I've got numbers on my side, and I've got powerful connections too.
"Let me spell it out for you. If I want to take you out, it's as easy as giving the word. I'll count to three. If you're still here, don't blame for what happens next. One!"
With an ominous look, Craig stared at Matthew. As he started counting, he gestured to his men. The burly men continued closing in on Matthew. In the blink of an eye, they were only ten feet away from him.
Craig slowly uttered, "Two!"
Right after Craig spoke, a snapping noise rang out. Matthew's fist had already landed on the throat of a nearby burly man. A sharp crack filled the air as the throat bone broke. Anyone who heard it would feet their skin crawling.
The victim held his neck and collapsed. The rest of the group were struck with terror. They just stood there blankly out of fear, as if they saw a ghost. Nobody was able to move.
Meanwhile, Craig just gaped at Matthew in shock. How did he have the courage to make the first move when he was alone against so many people?
Snapping back to reality, Craig immediately yelled, "Get him! Gang up on him together-"
What felt like a symphony of bone-snapping sounds signaled that three more victims had their throat bones broken. They all clutched their neck and dropped to the ground.
Craig's cries were abruptly cut off. He watched with horror as the four men writhed, holding their necks.
The victims grasped their necks and rolled on the ground in agony. They wanted
to shout but couldn't as blood gushed out of their mouths.
In no time, the four of them lay on the ground motionless with their hands still on their necks. Blood rushed out from their mouths, and their faces were twisted in agony. Their gruesome death was immensely horrifying.
The rest of the burly men backed away in fear silently, keeping their distance from Matthew. They gazed at him as if they were staring at a terrifying monster.
As Matthew slowly made his way to Craig, he reminded Craig in a chilling voice
that sent a chill down Craig's spine.
"Don't forget to count to three."
Craig couldn't even say a word. He kept retreating as he shook his head. It looked like he was saying, "I'm not saying three. I won't".
He was totally scared out of his wits. Craig had done many things worse than tearing down Sebastian's house, but all those people did was scream and curse.
A few went as far as filing complaints, but he wasn't worried about that. After all,
he had powerful connections. But no one had ever dared to go all out.
Matthew was the first person who did, and he killed four people right away.
Craig backed into the wall with his spine pressed against it. With no more space to retreat, he stopped in his tracks.
As Matthey walked closer, Craig panicked and screamed at his dozen or so men at the top of his lungs, "What the hell are you waiting for? Can't you see he's going to kill me? Step him now."
Upon hearing Craig's words, the burly men retreated even faster. In their panic, someone fell and scrambled away in fear, like scared mice cornered by a cat.noveldrama
