As Tony finished his sentence, the sound of footsteps came from the doorway of the pasta restaurant.

Nolan came running back, panting heavily as he approached Matthew. "I'm sorry. I thought you were a scammer and that you'd call out to me as I left to try and sell me something. I didn't expect you to just let me walk away without calling me back. That's when I realized you were genuine. I came back to thank you."

Matthew's face lit up with joy as he smiled. It wasn't about the thank you but the fact that Nolan had taken his word to heart and would likely try out the tips at home.noveldrama

Grinning, Matthew added, "I'll repeat what I just told you in case you don't remember. Take out your phone and turn on the recording function as I go over it once more."

Nolan repeatedly nodded. "Good idea. Honestly, I ran back here because I forgot a couple of things."

As Nolan spoke, he pulled out his phone and turned on the recording feature.

Matthew iterated his instructions again, then continued, "Don't expect immediate results in just a day or two. You need to be patient and stick with it. It'll be a pleasant surprise."

Nolan was thrilled as he listened and eagerly nodded. "Okay, I'll remember that. I'll make sure to follow through. Could I ask for your name?"

Mattew chuckled. "My last name is Grant."

With his face lit up with hope, Nolan asked, "How should I address you?"

Matthew hesitated for a moment, then gave his name. "Matthew Grant!"

Nolan made a mental note of Matthew's name. He was about to say something when the restaurant owner set down two plates of pasta on the table.

Upon seeing this, Nolan made the payment via PayPal with his phone, then turned to Matthew and said, "I've paid for your bills. Thanks again. I'll be on my way."

Tony's wrinkled face beamed brightly. He had been worried about not having money to pay, so this worked out perfectly.

Matthew grabbed Nolan. "Wait. I told you I didn't want your money, and I mean it. Take out your phone, and I'll transfer the money back."

Tony was taken aback. After all the trouble of getting someone to pay, Matthew was returning the money. Matthew was being absurd.

Nolan tried pulling his arm back, attempting to escape Matthew's grip. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't.

He quickly explained, "This is just a token of my appreciation. Going to the hospital would cost way more than this. Let me show my gratitude."

Matthew gently responded, "Seriously, that's not necessary. Someone's already paying for the meal. If you pay, he won't get the chance."

He had promised not to take a single penny, and he meant it. He wasn't about to go back on his word over two plates of pasta, so there was no way he'd let Nolan pay.

Tony stood up, ready to persuade Matthew to stop being so insistent and let Nolan show his appreciation. But after hearing Matthew's words, Tony swallowed his own.

Nolan was about to say something, but Matthew had already transferred the money back. He then put the phone back in Nolan's hand and pushed him out of the restaurant.

Matthew didn't stop until he pushed Nolan to the doorway, then waved his hand to send Nolan on his way. "If you don't leave now, you'll be late. Hurry up and go. Someone's treating me today, so don't worry about it."

With a look of regret, Nolan glanced at Tony. He figured out that Tony must be the one paying for the meal.

He dejectedly sighed and turned to Tony. "You're so lucky to get the chance to pay

Dr. Grant's bill. I want to pay, but he won't let me. This time, the honor goes to you. I'm actually jealous."

After saying that, Nolan regrettably walked off.

Tony sported a bitter look.

How was he lucky? He didn't have any money in his pocket. He wanted nothing

more than to stop Nolan from leaving and get Nolan to pay, but it was just wishful thinking.
