The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 823

In the courtyard of a villa in Lambda City, Tony held his phone with a grim expression.

Matthew helped Tony to the chair. "Have a seat before making the call."

He had just heard the phone conversation, and Marilyn was out of line. Her own father had passed away, and she still didn't want to come back. Who wouldn't be upset about that?

Matthew was worried that Tony's anger might take a toll on his body.

Taking a moment to settle his emotions, Tony picked up the phone and dialed a different number. This time, he reached out to Jay's oldest son, Benson Carling.

Benson was pushing a stroller with two small dogs in it at a veterinary hospital in Cherton, Estoria-one of them was a poodle, and the other was a corgi.

Benson looked worried. Two hours earlier, the corgi got sick and suddenly started having diarrhea.

The corgi's eyes were dull, looking weak and drained. Benson felt awful, so he made an appointment with the vet to get it treated.

Opening the door, Benson pushed the stroller inside and quickly asked the doctor, "Take a look at my baby, doctor. He's always been well-behaved and healthy, but he suddenly started having diarrhea. I'm worried."

The doctor picked up the corgi and placed it on the examination table. As the doctor was about to begin, Benson's phone started ringing loudly.

Benson reached for his phone. Seeing it was Jay calling, he hesitated for a moment before picking it up, "I'm busy right now, Dad. Can you stop calling me for a while?"

Hearing the impatient tone again, Tony gritted his teeth and swallowed his anger. "I have something to tell you. Your father has passed away."

Benson kept his eyes on his corgi. It seemed a little afraid of the doctor and started barking.

Watching the dog in distress, Benson felt a pang and frowned. He faintly heard the voice on the phone but couldn't quite make out what was said.

He simply replied, "I'm in the middle of something. My corgi's sick. Can you please not make things harder?"

Did Benson just brush it off as trouble?

The anger Tony had just managed to suppress instantly flared up. He snapped, "All you care about is your sick dog. Do you even know your father has passed away?"

Holding the phone, Benson was stunned, then burst out angrily. "Stop kidding around, Dad. If you're dead, who am I talking to on the phone?"

Tony was furious that he started swearing. "Can't you tell the difference between my voice and Jay's, you fucker? I'm your uncle."

Uncle Tony?

Benson looked surprised. "Have you come back to your senses?"

Tony didn't want to talk about himself. "Let's not get into that. I'm here to tell you something important. Jay is dead. I'm notifying you so that you can come back to handle his funeral."

Benson was puzzled. "Dad was doing well when I called him during New Year's. How did he die? Did the household staff not take care of him?"

New Year's? It was already summer now.noveldrama

Half a year had gone by without calling home. No wonder Benson couldn't tell the difference between Tony's voice and Jay's voice.

Tony was even more pissed. "H-How could you even say that? Never mind. I'm not going to argue with you. You need to get back as soon as possible to take care of your father's funeral matters."

Benson glanced at the doctor treating the dog and knitted his brows together. "I've got stuff to do today. I might not be able to make it back."

Tony was livid. "No matter what you've got going on, nothing's more important than your father's passing. You need to get on a plane and come back." Benson sighed. "Fine."

After saying that, Benson ended the call and walked up to the doctor. "How long will the treatment take?"

As the doctor examined the corgi's butt, he responded, "It'll take about two to three hours for treatment. If you don't have time, you can come back tomorrow."

Benson gently petted the corgi's head, feeling a little heartbroken seeing the corgi looking so down.

After thinking it through, Benson realized going back wouldn't bring Jay back. But if the corgi didn't get treated, things could get worse. At that moment, he made up his mind. "Get it treated first."
