I continued to stare in shock as the mutant bowed low, and even whined.

Did it just obey me? Or is it afraid of me?

I looked behind me to see if there was someone else but there was no one. Just me and the Prince.

I took a step back towards Theon. Okay, maybe it's just a coincidence.

"Stand up." I said and the mutant obeyed, rising to its full intimidating height.

Okay, no. Bad idea! Bad idea!!

I was just about to tell it to sit or something when a twig snapped somewhere and we both turned to see Miro come into the

area.

Immediately, everything changed. The calm beast turned violent and roared at Miro before running away at full speed.

My entire body shivered as Miro watched it disappear into the night, before looking my way. Then he began to stalk towards me, fully naked.

My wolf stirred as I raised my eyes to the night sky, refusing to see beneath his chest.

I forgot I'd have to get used to naked men during missions since I'm the only girl.

"What are you doing here?!" Miro queried as he reached me.

I opened my mouth to find the words but they were not coming

"Look at me!"

My eyes fell on his green, angry ones, fighting really hard not to roam elsewhere.

"How did you find us?" He asked.

"With my tracking skills?"

Miro's angry gaze slid to someone behind me and in an instant, he was by his brother's side, cheeking his injuries. Theon was unconscious and had suffered a major cut to his stomach area, making him lose a lot of blood. "What happened?!" Miro queried as more soldiers came out of the woods and rushed towards us. Thankfully, they were dressed in shorts this time

"I don't know. All I saw was that the mutant had got up and attacked the Prince. He was going to kill him."

"Then you came in and stopped the mutant?" Miro asked, as someone handed him a spare short and he began to wear it. Everyone stared as I looked at them in confusion and worry. "I-I just tried to stop it and i-it was. 1/5

Just then someone drove a bike into the area and I recognised it as Miro's power bike. Within minutes, Miro had men carry

his brother towards the vehicle.

The person who drove it vacated the bike for Miro, giving him the keys and Miro climbed on.

Immediately, Theon was made to sit on the bike and rest on Miro's back while another guy climbed in at the back so Theon could be secure between him and Miro.

"Hang in there, brother." Miro said as he started the machine and then he looked at me. "I want you at the hospital."

I nodded in reply. "I'll be there."

"Adam, you're in charge until further notice."

"Yes sir." Adam nodded.

And with that said, I watched Miro ride away.

"Hey, want a ride?" I turned to see Adam still having that limp I noticed at the start of the ball.

"Yeah, but what happened to you?" I asked as he fell into step with me.

He swallowed, his eyes darting to me with an expression I had no strength to decipher. "Had a little accident." He muttered.

"Glad you're okay." I stated, not wanting to press the matter further.

"Thanks, Ryn." He answered and afterwards, it was all silence between us, occasionally interrupted by Adam giving orders to the others.

Eventually we came out to the main road and to my surprise, there were already an array of cars

waiting.

"You're with me." Adam said, before leading me to his sports car. I would have been in awe but I was worry for Theon and confusion for what happened with the mutant. terribly caught between

An hour later, Adam and I were led to the hospital room where Theon was admitted. In the hallway, we found Miro sitting with his head hung low.

I had no idea if I was seeing things, but it looked like Miro was in pain - the emotional kind.

When he saw us, he rose to his feet, putting on an indifferent mask. Adam briefed him on the others and then asked about Theon.

"The Healer said he'll be fine." Miro answered and after a while, Adam checked to see if I'd be okay on my own before saying his goodbye. Miro watched him leave, then his green eyes settled on me.

"Are you

both an item?"

I blinked in surprise. "Wait, what? No!" I scratched the back of my neck. "He's like a brother to me."

Miro scoffed, looking Adam's way. "Yeah, right." He said, before sitting down and fiddling with his fingers.

I stared awkwardly around, not sure what to say.

"You know you can sit right?" He said, still not looking at me. "I don't bite."

I smiled before tentatively sitting beside him on the couch.

Immediately, I did that-I noticed how small I was beside his huge body, and I watched him stiffen before he inhaled deeply and relaxed.

Just then, his sweet scent wafted through my nostrils and I suddenly had the urge to climb into his arms and bury myself in his scent.

I shook my head. I don't deserve him.

Instead, I focused on my breathing and on my restless wolf and as we sat there, I liked the fact that he wanted me around despite all the trouble I had caused.

I looked at his tattoos specially designed to cover up scars. He had a similar inscription on his spine like Theon but where Theon had a whole ass python writhing on his back, Miro's back tattoo was more disturbing.

On one side of the inscription was

the image of a young boy hanging limply by the ropes attached to his body and right above the boy was a giant man's hand, whose fingers were connected to the ropes... like a puppet

I wondered what it meant.

"Why did you ask me to come?" I queried softly, absent-mindedly studying the tattoo.

Miro continued to fiddle with his fingers. "I don't know." He answered. "I just find your presence.....comforting."

I looked at him and scoffed slightly. "The Prince Miro I remember didn't like me very much and wanted me gone." "Trust me, that Prince Miro was an ass."

I giggled, and for the first time, he breathed out a laugh.

"Considering his encounter with Chelsea, he very much believes you're a slice of heaven."

My giggle grew into a full blown chuckle and for a moment, I loved how his big shoulders trembled in laughter.

We settled down, the atmosphere seemingly peaceful. Then I remembered Theon and felt guilty for laughing. "Will he be okay?"

Miro audibly swallowed, his smile fading fast. "I lied." He said, and I looked at him in shock. "The Healer said my brother would need a full blood transfusion. That's what I'm waiting for

"Oh." I replied. "But after that, he'll be fine, right?"

Miro nodded, and the act was so sad, I felt like giving him a hug

"That's why I asked you to come here." Miro said, finally looking at me. "Both of us will be unconscious. Can you stay for as long as you can?"

I blinked in surprise before nodding. "Yes. I'll stay."

"Good." He smiled, then his gaze fell to my lips and lingered and all of a sudden, I felt this pull to get closer and kiss him. The air between us became electric and demanding and in that moment, all I wanted to do was know how he tasted. Suddenly, we heard commotion ar My heart leapt in my throat as I rose to my feet and bowed. I noticed Miro didn't bother,

"You!" The King pointed in my face. "You're the cause of all these problems! You're a cursed child!!

Tears rushed to my eyes.

I flinched and trembled and just as I was about to leave, I heard Miro's voice. "Stay."

I froze and turned to him.

"What did you just say?!" The Alpha King queried and Miro rose to his feet, standing nose to nose with his father.

"I said....she is staying."

"No. She is leaving." The Alpha King pointed to me. "She is bad luck."

"Then let her be my bad luck."

I gaped at Miro in shock.

"What?!" The King frowned. "You have no idea what you're saying!"

"And you do?" Miro replied, arching a brow. "Theon is hospitalized because of you! If you had listened to him, he would not be in this situation.!"

"Don't you dare blame me for your mistake and this cursed bitch's luck!"

Miro scoffed and stared at his father from head to toe. "All these years, I tried so hard to please you. To be your perfect son! Now, here you are, assigning blame again but never taking any."

The King scoffed in reply. "What blame do I have to bear?"

"Theon's injury? Nora's death?"

The King frowned. "No-Nora's death?! I'm pretty sure that's your fault!"

"But it's not." Miro countered. "You are just as much to blame!"

The King folded his arms across his chest. "How?"

"How?" Miro asked in disbelief. "You chose your precious daughter, sentencing me to death without a second thought. I was just fifteen, Dad! What could I have possibly done to deserve a death sentence from you?!"

"If she hadn't followed you to Maybee's, she would have been safe!" The King snarled.

"If you had taken her like she begged you too, I wouldn't have tried to take her home!" Miro yelled, his voice breaking. "I was trying to protect her, Dad! EVERYTHING IS YOUR FAULT!"

"You're the one who kidnapped Dominic's father! You're the one who chose to covet their special serum! You're the one who chose to be a bad father to Theon and I!" Miro growled, his voice raw with emotion.

"You're the one who forced us to

chase after live even when it

forehead straining.

"And as for Nora," Miro swallowed, "you're responsible too. You are the one who chose to dote on her so much that she was seen as your weakness! You killed Nora, Father, not me!"

The King's hand shot out and punched Miro in the face.

Miro's head swung to the side, his bottom lip splitting open to bleed.

Miro turned his harsh green gaze on his father, looking so much like Theon with that one act. "Let that be the last time you ever lay your hands on me, Father."
