Chapter 222
Chapter 222
Grace came back to her senses after hearing what Ernest had said. She didn't expect Ernest to be
such a polite and mature child.
"It's okay." Grace shook her head and looked at the lovely child. He was so handsome. His facial
features looked familiar to Grace.
Grace looked at him and walked over. She said gently, "Ernest, welcome to our house. I am really
happy that you came over to our house to play with Little Gary."
She put her hand on his shoulder and looked into his big eyes.
All of a sudden, she felt sad for some reason.
Grace said gently again, "Ernest, do you know this is the first time Little Gary brought a friend over? I'm
very happy that both of you are good friends."
"Oh, really?" Ernest was a little shy. Then, he said, "This is also my first time visiting a friend's house. I
was very lonely in kindergarten before."
"Oh?" Grace was shocked.
Gary looked at his mother and shrugged. He said, "Mommy, I'll be lonely as well if it weren't for Ernest.
I'm glad to have him as my friend."
Upon hearing this, Grace's heart ached. She said, "I'm happy for you both to have met each other and
become good brothers."
Ernest nodded his head and said, "Yea, it feels like
we have known each other for a really long time.”
"Yeah, I feel that way too," Gary replied.
Grace felt sad when she looked at them smiling together. They looked so similar!
Grace's heart ached.
She hoped she could see them smiling forever.
Their smiles were so bright and charming.
It made her happy knowing that the kids were happy.
Grace looked at them happily and said, "Alright, guys. Continue playing with your toys. I'm going to go
prepare dinner."
"Auntie, thank you!" Ernest said politely.
Grace shook her head and said, "It's my pleasure. Ernest, you have to come over often, okay?"
Ernest nodded his head again and said, "Yes, of course. As long as you don't mind."
"Don't worry, mommy. I'm sure that he'll come over often." Gary said. Then, he put his arm around his
shoulder and said, "He's my best friend."
"I know. Well, please enjoy." Grace nodded her head and said.
Alice had washed a few fruits and placed them on a plate when Grace walked into the kitchen.
"Sister, please let them have some fruits first. We're going to have a scrumptious dinner. So, I might
take a longer time to prepare for it. I'm afraid that they'll be hungry." Alice said.
"Alice, it seems that you know how to take care of children very well. I believe you'll be a good mother This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
in the future." Grace hoped that her sister would get married and have children. She wanted her to
have a blissful life.
Alice was stunned. She looked a little sad.
Get married and have kids?
But she did not want any of those. She was still traumatized by what had happened that fateful night.
She did not want to marry anyone.
Grace saw Alice lowered her head. She had stopped cutting the fruits as well. It seemed that she was
thinking about something.
Grace suddenly understood what she was thinking. She sighed and did not say anything. She took the
plate of fruits out to the kids.
She could not force Alice.
She had to give Alice some time.
Jensen Charm was the one who had started it all.
Was Jensen capable of convincing Alice to let her guards down again?
There were apples and peaches on the plate.
Grace liked to eat apples. However, Little Gary liked to eat peaches.
"Ernest, Little Gary, please go and wash your hands and have some fruits," Grace said.
"Okay."
"Mommy, are there any peaches? I can smell peaches." Gary asked.
"Yup. There are apples as well." Grace said.
Ernest and Gary went to wash their hands and came back. Ernest frowned when he saw peaches, he
avoided them.
Grace was confused. She asked, "Ernest, you don't like peaches?"
"I don't like peaches, but I love apples. " Ernest shook his head and said.
Grace was stunned. She didn't expect that she and Ernest would have the same taste in fruits.
"Oh, really? Then, help yourself to more apples." Grace turned the plate around, facing a lot of apples
to him.
"Peaches are too hairy. My whole body will itch when I eat them. But, my father likes peaches, just like
Little Gary." Ernest said with a sweet smile.
"That's such a coincidence. Peaches are actually great for digestion. But, it's sad that we're allergic to
it. I have the same problem as you." Grace said.
"Mommy, you and Ernest are the same. Whereas I am like his father. We're really destined to be best
friends." Little Gary smiled and said.
Grace smiled and said, "I wish Ernest was my son as well."
Upon hearing this, Ernest looked at Grace. He did not mind having such a loving mother like her.
However, he didn't know when his father was going to find him a step-mother.
Grace's heart ached when she saw that Ernest remained silent.
She had a feeling this child might be yearning for a mother since he was also from a single- parent
family.
She said to Gary immediately, "Eat up. By the way, Ernest, do you have anything else that you don't
like to eat?"
Ernest said, "I don't like carrots. Everything else is fine. But, I prefer meat."
"What?" Grace was stunned again.
She didn't like to eat carrots when she was younger. She only started to like them as she grew older.
Also, she loved to eat meat.
It was such a coincidence that this child had the same exact taste as her.
"That's great. We have the same taste in food." Grace said.
Ernest looked at Grace, who was walking towards the kitchen, in surprise.
Gary muttered, "Ernest, did you ask your father what kind of person your mommy is?"
Ernest shook his head and said, "No. My father loves me very much. He spends time with me as well. I
never knew who my mommy was."
"You have the same taste as my mom. You seemed more of my mother's son than I am. It's a little
weird, don't you think?" Gary looked at Ernest and said.
"It'd be great if I have such a great mommy. They said that my mommy is in the United States. She
gave birth to me after marrying my father. After that, she left and never came back."
Gary was shocked. He frowned and asked, "Who are they?"
