Chapter 92
The moon hung heavy in the night sky, casting an eerie glow over the dense forest surrounding the packhouse. Nathan and Tristan, identical twins with eyes that gleamed with a mixture of urgency and worry, hurried toward the building. Their patrol had been cut short by an inexplicable wave of pain, forcing them to rush back to the packhouse, where they feared the worst.
They were afraid and that was a small word. They needed to see her, feel her. Ella, their mate. And every second was becoming harder to bear.
Inside, the atmosphere was tense and fraught with an unsettling energy. The packhouse, an imposing structure of stone and timber, felt colder than usual as they navigated the narrow hallways toward the quarters assigned to them. The scent of fear and distress grew stronger with every step, until they reached their
room.
Sara was pacing restlessly, her hair falling in disarray around her shoulders. The room was stark and functional, with simple furnishings and no fireplace to soften its cold ambiance. Her eyes were a mix of frustration and anxiety, and she snapped her gaze toward the twins as they entered.
"Well, look who decided to join the party," Sara said, her voice dripping with a hint of sarcasm. "I was starting to think you two had gone and found a new hobby, one that doesn't involve saving the day."
They didn't have time to deal with Sara's attitude. There were more concerning matters and if she was this snarky, it meant she was very nervous and afraid.
Nathan's eyes were filled with a fierce concern. "Sara, what's happened? We felt something, where is Ella?"
The twins looked around the room, they wanted to see her.
Tristan's jaw tightened. "And?"
Nathan growled. "And you just let her? How could you?" He blamed Sara.
Sara gritted her teeth in frustration and in challenge she spoke, "Oh shut up, lover boy. I told her not to go but she said it was important. Important for her so I agreed on the terms that if she gets late I will go in search of her. And that;s what I did."
"And then what happened?" Tristan asked in desperation.
Sara rolled her eyes. "And when I got to the meeting spot, it was a ghost town. No Ryan, no Ella—just a mess. I found signs of a struggle, blood, and a whole lot of nothing. It was like a bad dream, except it was real."noveldrama
Sara looked into their eyes. "I believe Alpha Rambo is the one behind this." her voice was soft but there was underlying anger.
Nathan's expression hardened. "You think Alpha Rambo is involved?"
Sara gave a sharp nod. "Oh,
absolutely. Hound a surveillance
our room that was
camera in our
supposed to be discreet. Clearly net
someone wanted to keep an eye on us. Alpha Rambo's behind this, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan is in on it. They're probably sipping tea and plotting their next move as we speak."
"Why do you think so?" Nathan asked.
Sara gave him a look that said are you fucking stupid and then said, "Firstly I found cameras in our room. Secondly he deliberately tried to separate you from her. Third, I saw the Moonlake warriors in the forest searching for someone. Just think about it, the rogues are on their turf and those warriors were roaming in the inner forest, when they should be in the frontlines. Alpha Rambo is up to something and I am damn sure that he has Ella."
Tristan looked around, taking in the grim details. "We need to act fast. If Alpha
Rambo has Ella, he'll use her to his advantage."
Sara's eyes narrowed with resolve.
"You don't say? I'd never have guessed. Let's not waste time playing detective. We need to mobilize the other packs. I've got a list of the Alphas who backed Ella at the conference. I'll get in touch with them. You two can handle the defense and try not to get yourselves killed."
Nathan managed a grim smile at Sara's snark. "Thanks for the pep talk. We'll get started. We need to make sure we're prepared for anything Alpha Rambo might throw at us."
As they gathered around the table, Sara began drafting messages to the Alphas. Her fingers moved quickly over the keyboard, her usual snarky demeanor masked by the urgency of the situation.
Nathan and Tristan split their tasks. Nathan focused on strengthening their defenses, making sure their quarters were secure and that they were ready for any potential attack. Tristan began crafting encrypted messages to the Alphas, ensuring the information would remain confidential and reach the right hands. Sara glanced over her shoulder, her expression a mix of frustration and determination. "You know, I never thought I'd be the one running around trying to save everyone. But here we are. Just don't screw this up, okay? We can't afford any more mistakes."
With a shared sense of purpose, Nathan, Tristan, and Sara braced themselves for the challenges ahead, ready to face whatever dangers lay in their path to rescue Ella and secure their future.
After a beat of silence Nathon spoke to Sara. “And what about you?"
"Me?" Sara asked, confused.
"She is your sister right?" Tristan chimed in.
Sara gulped, but kept things under wraps.
"Whatever I have work. I am not like you guys." she said and started working.
What do you think?
