The Cherished Wife

Chapter 649

"Alright, but Charlie..." Noelle started.

"Peter and Sean are already on their way. Can you relax now?" Steven reassured her.NôvelDrama.Org content rights.

Noelle nodded. "Okay, I'll go back with you first."

After Steven and Noelle left, another team quickly arrived, efficiently clearing Wenford Road. The two bodies were also taken away for processing.

...

Meanwhile, Charles drove all the way to the outskirts before stopping in front of an abandoned factory.

He turned off the engine and rolled down the window, his slender fingers holding an unlit cigarette. He played with a lighter, flicking it on and off. He watched as two men and a woman stepped out of their vehicle.

They were armed and slowly advancing toward him.

Charles squinted, still fiddling with his lighter. Only when the leader got closer did Charles swiftly open the car door and jump out.

The three assassins barely registered Charles' movements. As they tried to react, Charles tossed the lighter toward them.

In one swift move, Charles kicked the leader. Then, as the lighter soared overhead, a gunshot rang out. The bullet pierced the lighter, triggering a loud explosion.

The leader was caught in the blast, his face covered in soot and debris as he struggled to get up.

His two subordinates were also injured, though not as severely.

"Boss, are you alright?" The female assassin rushed to help him. "Boss!"

"Charles Hoffman, you're dead meat!" The leader shoved the woman aside and quickly grabbed a gun to start firing at Charles' position.

However, Charles agilely evaded the shots. He even leaped over the car roof to find cover on the other side.

Charles held a small handgun.

With quick precision, he shot the leader right in the forehead. In the ensuing chaos, he managed to take down the second male assassin as well, leaving only the woman standing.

However, Charles was out of bullets at this point.

Typically, Charles did not carry firearms, but due to recent threats from Kerlsberg, he had started keeping one on hand. It proved to be useful tonight.

The female assassin was shocked by Charles skills and found herself in disbelief. They barely had any time to react before Charles took down their leader with a single shot to the head.

His agility and reflexes were beyond comprehension.

The leader who was shot was Seven Quill, one of the top three marksmen in Quill. His sharpshooting skills were unrivaled within the organization.

To think Seven would be taken down by a single shot from Charles was beyond imaginable.

The female assassin waited, but Charles remained hidden in the shadows, not making a move.

"Charles, you're out of bullets, aren't you? Tonight, it's either you or me. You killed my two comrades, and I'll be sure to avenge them!" she yelled.

"Is that so?" Charles gripped his gun tightly, his mind racing. He narrowed his eyes while pulling out his phone, which was still connected to Peter.

Peter quickly sent him the exact location of the female assassin.

Charles put his phone away. As the assassin's impatience grew, he called out, "If you hadn't come after me, I wouldn't have had the chance to kill you guys. Now that I'm about to die, tell me-who paid for my head? At least let me die knowing the truth."

"Since you want to know, I'll tell you. The one who paid to have you killed is from your own country, Westel. He offered a high price for your life. Don't blame us for this! Money talks, after all."
