The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 826

Tony's aged eyes showed a flicker of emotion. He looked up at the car, staring hard at the door without blinking.

The car door opened, and a man got out of the car. He was dressed in a white shirt, black pants, and black leather shoes.

His hair was slicked back perfectly, not a strand out of place. But as he stepped out and glanced down, a lock of hair fell over his eyes, so he flicked it back up without thinking.

With a cold look in his eyes, he frowned and checked out his surroundings. He briefly glanced at Tony before fixing his gaze on Matthew. After giving Matthew a once-over, he started frowning.

Gunnar picked up a cold glint in Matthew's eyes, and it left him feeling unexpectedly rattled.

Matthew barely glanced at Gunnar before turning to Tony and asking, "Who's this guy?"

Tony shook his head blankly. "I don't know him."

The car door opened once more, and a woman stepped out.

Her hair looked freshly done with a yellowish hue. She had flawless makeup and striking pink lips. A vivid green scarf was tied around her neck.

Wearing a lace dress, she carried a pink handbag and wore crystal-studded sandals, making her look pretty feminine. It turned out that the woman who got out of the car was Marilyn.

Marilyn hooked her arms around Gunnar's and walked with him into the yard.

When Matthew saw her, he had a hunch she was Marilyn. He frowned, watching her leisurely get out of the car and take the man's arm as they strolled into the yard.

Back in the village, when some of the old people passed away, their daughters would start crying as soon as they came back to the village. Their wails could be heard far and wide.noveldrama

Matthew thought it was too much for him, especially when some distant relatives would join in and cry at the top of their lungs. It seemed like they were putting on a show.

But he had also seen daughters who cried so hard they fainted. After an hour of weeping, they could barely speak. He could tell they were genuinely heartbroken. However, despite Jay's recent passing, Marilyn still had the time to put on makeup and look her best. She was even calmly linking arms with a man as she walked in.

Matthew couldn't explain it, but he felt disgusted by Marilyn. As he turned to Tony, he realized Tony's expression had turned dark and cold. He sat there without moving an inch.

Marilyn spotted two people in the yard. When she noticed Tony's shabby outfit and messy hair, her lovely eyebrows furrowed slightly.

As she walked closer, she called out, "I'm back, Uncle Tony."

With a cold expression, Tony pointed inside the villa. "Since you're back, go take care of Jay's body."

Marilyn knitted her brows together. "Are you telling me Dad's body hasn't been placed in the coffin yet? He died yesterday. Why did it take so long?"

The muscle in Tony's face twisted. If it weren't for Jay's body still being unburied, he would've already started swearing.

Keeping his anger in check, Tony coldly responded, "Are you blaming me? You should be asking yourself that. Your father has died. Why hasn't he been put in the coffin?"

Marilyn raised an eyebrow. "Wasn't I out of the country?"

Tony kept a straight face. "You were just overseas. It's not like you were dead."

She became more annoyed. "Why are you being so harsh, Uncle Tony? I put my work on hold and traveled back from overseas to handle Dad's funeral because of my responsibility to him. Why are you being like this?"

Responsibility?

Tony's gaze was filled with irony. He had just learned from Matthew that if Marilyn cared, she could have stayed in touch anytime through phone calls and video calls. That fact that Jay was dead for so long without anyone noticing said it all—it was neglect.

Hearing her call herself responsible only fueled Tony's anger. "Your responsibility? Your father died, and his body was left to rot in the house, but you didn't even know. How do you have the nerve to call yourself responsible?"

Marilyn irritably retorted, "If I didn't care, would I even be here? Left to rot in the house? Stop being so dramatic, will you? If word got out, people would think I'm ungrateful."

Tony was so angry that his face turned red, and his frail hands started trembling. "You think I'm out here to make you look bad? Fine! You're so grateful, right? Then go in and take care of the body."

Marilyn snorted. "I've always been a good daughter. Dad was proud when I got into a prestigious college in Eastoria. When I got my citizenship there, he threw a banquet with a lot of guests."

Marilyn kept talking as she walked into the house. As she bragged about the banquet, she suddenly paused, and a horrified look crossed her face.
